In the beginning as a vegan i thought eating like beyond burgers was the only way to get my proteïn as a vegan. Now i get 200 grams of protein a day without any Fake meat just real plants only💪🗿
By the way, thank you for this video. Most vegans should make videos like this. This is the first video I have seen that truly shuts the mouth of the carnivore trolls. Plus in reality when we look at nature we find that the most powerful of all land mammas are actually all herbivores. And out of all the apes including man, the gorilla is the strongest one. Those are the facts.

What a refreshing change to see a video highlighting the incredible variety of plant-based protein sources! Im sharing this and encouraging all my friends to explore the amazing world of vegan nutrition
This is a wonderful video! 20 years as a vegan, less than 10% junk vegan food (Beyond meat). Now at 55 years old, I am stronger and have more energy and far more muscle than when I was 35 as a non vegan. Thank you Markus and Cara, you guys are the best!
I grow a plant called Barbados Gooseberry. I thought i was buying cats claw until it formed fruit and found out it was Barbados Gooseberry. The leaves of this plant have around 25% to 26% of protein and they taste really good. Not sure if anyone knows about that plant but I love this plant as well as Fava Beans.
A plant based diet and adding 1 cup of soy beans or tempeh a day made my hot flashes DISAPPEAR in 7 DAYS!!!! I am soooo grateful! Hot flashes every two hours 24/7 was HORRIBLE. I was already plant based but adding soy daily did something to my hormones that helped!! Ladies take note, hot flashes are debilitating
You promised, and you delivered, your video about protein, thanks Marcus. I probably eat more protein than I thought. I eat tofu and tempeh, soy milk, lentils and cooked beans, I just had lentils pancakes this morning with a huge salad with greens from the garden. I do eat peanut protein and I love it. I make my own protein powder. I use chia seeds, quinoa, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, l also throw in some powdered cacao, which I know you don’t agree with, but I really like it. Also some monk fruit sweetener. I probably need to add some fava beans to my diet. Nato, I don’t think so, never tried, and I don’t think I will. I always learn something from you. I wish I had your looks, but again, we can’t always have everything. I have my health and don’t look too bad for my age. Also like you, I don’t remember the last time I got sick. Thanks again, for your kindness and great info.
Soy is so bad for you! I’m a two time cancer survivor. I’ve been vegan for years too. Eat all from the earth, vegetables & fruits. Fully Raw Kristina has wonderful recipes too!
Syncronicity. The past few weeks Ive gone crazy buying different beans and roasting raw peanuts after blanching. Starting to maintain Ideal weight now after wild swings. Great video!
Is it necessary to blanch/roast peanuts before making peanut butter or can one just consume peanut butter from plain peanuts ground into peanut butter?
I remember finding you years ago when you made a video about your Hollywood career, your lifestyle leading you into the desert naked ultimately to die, or something like that. Then you had an epiphany and began this journey of health. I'm not vegan, but I did go down that road for half a year or longer, largely because of your message. It's good to see you healthy and making such informative videos like this, being fair to all sides and comparing the nutritional value of all foods, vegan or not. It's also great that you aren't part of the crowd who is promoting the highly processed foods like Impossible and Beyond burger just to switch people from real meat at the expense of ones health, moving to these lab created Frankenstein foods. I went on a forty day/forty night water fast last year, as I myself had a moment like you did when you first started your journey. I don't know where the journey will ultimately lead me, but I'm still trying to figure out true life, and am sure I will cross your path again. Thanks.
I love you Markus. Great Video. I’ll have to try the raw fava bean that’s amazing. The powder seems interesting too. I bought your raw bodybuilding dvd 12-14 years ago. I’m 32 now! I find my self coming back to your advice as I’m motivated to look & feel my best. I’m glad your still doing your thing. You & Cara are so positive & inspirational.
I appreciate that you differentiated between dry and cooked. I know the difference now, but I do remember in the beginning of my vegan journey, getting confused by other articles and videos that didn't specify and clarify those points. Good video 😊
This is absolutely gorgeous so intensely packed together simple and clear. I love it. Thank you so much very very valuable rather than wasting all this time on blah blah online. Thank you dear very precious doing mostly Raw for 25 years getting older, and needing more of this.❤❤
thanks Markus - I remember going on a juice fast decades ago - before I knew anything about health - no juicers - essentially it was all sugar - needless to say - I felt hideous and have never drunk fruit juice since - the body needs salt - anyway - my knowledge of health and nutrition has been amplified exponentionally by you over the years - and yes I love peanut butter - I eat 100% organic no salt peanut butter all the time just by the spoonful - I have never tried fava beans - so I will definately do that one - I am not a raw vegan but I am vegetarian and usually eat salads everytday - yum - I do not know if Cara has ever made her raw hummous - I would love a recipe - I tried sprouting the beans - didn't work - so help on that would be great enjoy your day - Blessings to you and Cara x

I’m looking forward to buying your protein powder knowing that I don’t have to worry about hidden ingredients that don’t fit my diet.I started my vegan journey four months ago and have never felt better. At 56, all of my joint pain has disappeared-completely gone! As a full-time professional photographer, I used to suffer the next day from carrying gear, but now the pain is entirely gone. My diet made all the difference! It's amazing how quickly I stopped missing sugar and caffeine, soda, dairy. Although I wasn't overweight to begin with, I lost a lot of weight after changing my diet and am now just putting some weight back on. I love pumpkin seeds wasn’t aware of chia and fava beans. I also eat a lot of chickpeas, hummus, beans, and rice. Thank you for sharing; it's very helpful, especially for those of us who are new to this!

Brilliantly illuminating and mind broadening! Thank you for this comprehensive, myth debunking lecture on protein. I’m so grateful to have the confusion dispelled! ❤
Loved to see you showed the naked PB powder! I love this in my peanut sauce…. I use a spoon of regular peanut butter and a couple spoons of this. Really good as a sauce for a tofu veggie bowl ❤ also, makes your oatmeal very creamy.
This video is excellent❣️ Thank you yet again❣️Marcus, you are the best at providing resources. Might you be willing to share your fresh fava bean resource?
Fava beans are a personal favourite, along with chickpeas/hummus, pine nuts, coconut, chlorella, and pumpkin seeds. Cannot have peanut butter or yeast, which is fine with me.
Great. Video. Just started my Whole Foods plant-based diet about 60 days ago so this video was very timely for me. Thank you so much. I was always afraid to eat too much peanut butter because I’m needing to lose about 8 pounds too.
Great video - refreshing to see such a comprehensive summary of non highly processed foods. The science seems spot on as far as I can see. I’ve been looking for this common sense approach on protein for a while, but most of the stuff on the Internet misses the important factors. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Wow, so helpful! Gonna share this with my gym going beef and chicken son. 😐 Of course I'll say 'see, see how he radiates good health!' Not to mention inspiring for me too. ❤
Markus, you may not appreciate it now, but I'm about to change your life, forever. I don't think I've heard of fava beans before. Thanks for the heads-up! But I get my protein from a source unmatched 😮 It also has 2,470 mg of potassium per cup (70% DV), 25g of fiber (100% DV), and 39g protein per cup (78% DV). It also has 29 different types of antioxidants -- making it one of the most antioxidant rich food in the world! What is it? From East Asia: Adzuki beans 🙏🏿
Great video Markus! Let’s not forget our green drinks loaded with cucumbers,kale,Celery,parsley,sprouts..These are great sources of easily assimilated protein that are true whole food sources..
lol. 1 stick celery only has .28g protein. (zero point two eight) One whole cucumber has even less- .05 (point zero five) Its mainly all water. One cup parsley has 1.8g They are great for cleansing and micronutrients, but not protein. That's in nuts, seeds, chlorella, fava beans, etc
Yes but one must be careful because some types like chickpeas can cause mild food poisoning if not careful, like if they sit in soak water too long, bacteria can form, or even being wet from the rinse water can be enough moisture to grow bacteria to grow if it sits for a while. It's tricky. And some beans need to be outright cooked, while others do not. Each one is unique and different.
Thanks for another great video! I’ve heard that the quality of protein is important to ensure protein synthesis to help build skeletal muscle and prevent degradation. Leucine is the most important amino acid for muscle and is it available in plant protein or from meat sources?
Excellent presentation, Markus! There’s no kwashiorkor in US vegans. It would be a fun statistic to know how many fruits, vegetables, and grains there are available to us when someone asks what we eat. I would love to say a variety of 10,000 different plant foods (or the correct number)! 😊😊😊
I saw an interesting video where the person said that we have an innate craving need for a specific percent/amount of protein. When people live on these all fruit diets (for example) they overeat and gain weight because their bodies are desperately trying to get in enough protein. When you eat a higher protein vegan diet, you are satiated much quicker. I love the news about peanuts! I eat SO much peanut butter at 5'2" tall and less than 88 lbs.!
Thank you for all the information you have blessed us with, that was the BEST I have ever learned in regards to vegan protein sources. It is definitely great information! I have taken your protein for years.
Oh I was hoping you would compare the sprouts for the raw foodies or high raw leaning peeps like for chickpeas, buckwheat, lentils etc versus cooked. Do you have a video for that already? Resources can be murky for sprout nutrition. Thank you! Loves me some buckwheat sprouts ✨
I love fava beans... where can I buy fresh, you say there's an on line market? Also Markus which nutritional yeast is the best in your opinion? Thank you I love this information! 🌞🌸💪
Dear Markus I love fava beans I grow my own each year here in Australia call them broad beans they grow in the toughest soil are so hardy ' thank u for your videos
Good stuff thank you. July 4th 2024 will make one year being on a whole food plant-based diet. Not sure why I picked July 4th, my own personal Independence Day I guess. In addition, I quit caffeine. I lost weight without trying and feel great. I am 51. And learning how to swim! Crazy I know.

Sounds like you messed up your kidneys which can happen if eating bad beans. I suggest water fasting, then introducing cultured foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, coconut yogurt, and reading the kidney ebook MarkusEbooks.com
Great info, as always, Markus. Any advice for a 60+ yo woman who's struggling to lose weight and trying to increase protein? Vegan protein sources have so many calories 😩 🙏🏼❤️
Stop the carbs- anything with wheat and sugar ands refined seed oils- canola, saffflower, rapeseed, vegetable, soy, corn, sunflower. Just stop the processed packages foods, read the labels. Healthy fats do not make you fat, processed food does ruclips.net/video/f-ZFjL6Om6s/видео.html

Great video! I’ve always stayed away from peanut butter because everybody said it was bad so what would be a good peanut butter to go to and can you mix it with the local organic honey?
Any peanut butter that says just peanuts in the ingredients, nothin else. Never mix sugar and fats. Honey is way too high in concentrated sugars anyway. Try to wean off the sugar addiction and learn to be ok with the way things taste naturally without enhancing them with sweeteners
Nice, thank you for the comprehensive overview! The tempeh though is also fermented and actually could be eaten raw when you have a fresh one. I don't agree with you on milk being a protein source - it's not about going after it - but surely ancestors have been using it as protein source, since anyhow mainly its been eaten fermented and in the form of cheese - also its a full proteins containing all amino acids, so there was no combination factor to grains or legumes to be added. However - Id love to know from you about combining, since you mix different food categories, so to have a more insight view of yours on that. Like how raw legumes and starchy 'grains' (like buckwheat) go together. Love
This video came at the perfect time, as ive been trying to increase muscle mass, and now see im not eating enough protein. Thank you so much for this video and the list Markus. Its so appreciated. Youre a godsend. Blessings to you both.
Question? Im wondering if a person consumes 1 cup of chlorella/day if it’d be safe? If you split it throughout the day. Would the liver be able to handle it?
Missed this video! Just catching up on this one now! Just a little bit in and I need to take some notes. I need to build some more muscle and get a stronger body In general and back keeps hurting from little normal things. Need to strengthen my whole body eat more protein and lift more weights! lol. 1 stick celery only has .28g protein. (zero point two eight)
One whole cucumber has even less- .05 (point zero five) Its mainly all water.
One cup parsley has 1.8g
They are great for cleansing and micronutrients, but not protein. That's in nuts, seeds, chlorella, fava beans, etc
Thank you for this amazing video! Question - what about the sprouted versions of the fava beans, lentils, chickpeas etc?
That fava bean dish looks amazing!
Great video! I still have your Vegan Bodybuilding DVD set. That was incredibly inspiring for me.
What about tempeh? Is fermented tempeh raw? Once I tasted it and it is so delicious..but i don't know if it is raw or already cooked. Is it healthy?
Thank you Markus! And thank you for all you and Cara share with us!

Wonderful information! Many thanks. BUT, how much protein can be processed and absorbed in one meal?
Thomas Delauer just did a video on new studies saying A LOT more than people think.
Another great video. Just like your products. I am greatfull for the time you take to make all this happen
This was excellent! Lots of beneficial information. Thank you, Markus!
*peanuts are loaded with pesticides, so make sure it's organic!
Highly needed video for everyone 👏👏

They are on playlists.
This was awesome! Thank you for thorough breakdown!
This was one of my favorite videos ever. And you look fantastic by the way!
Thanks for this Markus. I was wondering where sprouted legumes fit into all this!
Thank you for this - Ive been sharing this with so many friends and family 🌻🌻🌻
I saw an interesting video where the person said that we have an innate craving need for a specific percent/amount of protein. When people live on these all fruit diets (for example) they overeat and gain weight because their bodies are desperately trying to get in enough protein. When you eat a higher protein vegan diet, you are satiated much quicker. I love the news about peanuts! I eat SO much peanut butter at 5'2" tall and less than 88 lbs.!
Good informative video. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for the video. Really appreciate this.
Dear Markus I love fava beans I grow my own each year here in Australia call them broad beans they grow in the toughest soil are so hardy ' thank u for your videos

Excellent video Markus! Real food for real health.

Love your videos and powerful messages .. thanks a lot Markus 🙏
I quit caffeine too. BP is much better now. Keep up the good work.
Merci ,Markus you knowledge is amazing 🎉😊
vous êtes les bienvenus 😊
@@MarkusRothkranz. Ola. I ate beans and lost my lower back . I m thinking of FMT (F. Microbiota Transplant). Can u send me some , please. I can pic up also. Have a great weak senior. 🙏🇺🇸

So clear and straight I love it
Amazing video. Thank you so much for explaining this protein so well.
I heard fava beans are high in L Dopa and contain C Dopa. Can you take a scoop off favabean powder daily in a morning smoothie without getting to much L dopa for it to become a problem? I want to use favabean powder as a protein source in my daily smoothie..... You would really help me out ❤
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 u hit this one outta the park sir u and Cara are the best of the best i have ur cookbooks and books and just got the protein powder (which is excellent) nx time will try it unsweetened and also have the night rebuild powder (can’t wait to try more im chkn off the list as i go 😄) thank you so much for these super products and all u do by giving so much insight (and keeping it real) to help us 🫶🏼
Great video!
Thank you
Nice, thank you for the comprehensive overview! Love
Many thanks Markus you always inspire me very interesting video.
What kind of vinegar do you recommend and why is vinegar good for you?
apple cider vinegar
Get on a consistent workout routine! Love what you do!
Much appreciation. You’re very kind.
