- The 'One After 909' is the oldest Beatle song ever. The song was written as early as 1957, and is one of the first Lennon--McCartney compositions.
In his 1980 playboy interview, Lennon explained. 'That was something I wrote when I was about seventeen'.
McCartney said, 't's not a great song, but it's a great favourite of mine because it has great memories for me of John. We were trying to write a bluesy freight-train song. There were a lots of those songs at the time, like Midnight Special by Lead belly. We wrote the 'One After 909. The girl in the song didn't get the 909, she got the one after it.
Its official release date, as part of the "Let It Be" album, was May 1970. The real first recording took place during a rehearsal in the Cavern in 1962, only sound was recorded. It's so different from record versions. It's rough, just back from Germany, just before there first recordings took place.
They held it back for so long because 'One After 909' is also a more American rock-and-roll sounding song. Still its a milestone, especially because it is the first one Lennon-McCartney ever wrote.
Look at it. The 'One after 909'. The film contains original material. Liverpool & The Beatles.
Ah, so
Something poetic about this being one of the group’s first written songs and appearing on their final album
John and Paul's vocal combination was just magic.
Sounds to me like John was inspired by Roll Over Beethoven when he wrote this song.
people always ask who did you prefer, the Beatles or the Stones…..?? I think for pure rock n roll they were both great, and the Stones still are…!! When it became time to invent new harmonies, and write beautiful songs, and take the whole thing to a new level, the Beatles win by a mile.
Decca records is still to this day probably kicking themselves 😂😂
Honestly, this rock n roller of a gem is way way superior than the Let It Be track. You feel the song a-chuggin like the damn old line! Beatles Forever!
i was wondering if these young lads did anything after this, they seemed like they had potential.. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
If I had a time machine, I would pack my bags and set the dial for The Cavern, duh
Better late than never! I'm glad this one made it onto a Beatles album, even if it was their last one.
Pete best was a decent Drummer....Ringo was exceptional
Oh, memories of Liverpool when everything was caked in soot.
They were never better than these early years. Their covers of Chuck Berry numbers remain legendary.
I've never heard this Beatles song before.
1962 i was 9 years Old But i Remember This song
"This is Way better than let it be version" well stfu already, both are awesome
There's music before The Beatles and there is music after. They changed it all
KILLER TRACK FROM THE BEATLES ! BEST 60'S BAND IN THE WORLD !
The film is just as precious as the recording. Great video.
I love this song... one of the Beatles best! I really enjoy listening to these early recordings of The Fabs, little did they know what worldwide legends they were about to become!
