The Rolling Stones got their success partly thanks to the Beatles; one of their first hits was "I Wanna Be Your Man", written by Lennon-McCartney, and George himself recommended them to Decca to let the recording happen in the first place. Bonnie, the Beatles were filmed in the Cavern in 1962 by Granada TV, one of the largest TV companies in the UK at the time. They had the franchise which covered the North West of England for the ITV network and while they made major programmes to be networked across the country they were also contractually obliged to produce local programming, of which this was an example. The Beatles Cavern footage was shot simply for a brief regional report on the then-local Merseybeat phenomenon and if it had been, say, Gerry and the Pacemakers playing on that day it would probably be them on film. You can sure hear the difference ... Love the film from 1962 Liverpool but ... GOOD GOD ... the sound from the ROOF TOP is the best ... THANK YOU, RONY
That beat dadada bum bum dadada bum bum, was the sound that made them famous. It was similar to other sounds of the times, but the blend was so distinctly them.
I've read all the threads about who was better, Pete Best or Ringo Starr, and all I have to say about that is I found a RUclips video where Carl Perkins invited Ringo Starr to be a guest drummer and lead singer for "Honey Don't", which we all know, was covered by the Beatles . Drummers are strange creatures, and those who can also sing are rare indeed. Ringo Starr is one of the rare ones who can not only play but sing. Whether he was a better drummer is immaterial. Whether he was a great singer is also immaterial. The fact that he could do both was instrumental in the success of the Beatles.
+supraludwick83 Yes, Pete best was a phenomenal musician, but he didn't get along well enough with the Beatles, aside from John, and Paul McCartney and George Harrison said he was "too conventional" to be a Beatle, and so Epstein, the original manager of the Beatles, decided it was best(Ha get it...... Anyway, stupid jokes are besides the point.)(See told you so (Stupid jokes------> .))that all of the Beatles, to be successful, needed to all get along and John invited Ringo Starr to join the band after the dismissal of Pete Best, who was prior friends with John and Paul, to be the new drummer, and became an official part of the band on August 18th 1962 and you probably know the rest.
Well explained Quentin, and I did laugh at the best joke... hehe, I think Pete was more Raw for rock and roll... I love Ringo don't get me wrong... but the other day I was listening to "Money" both versions not studios but live, and Pete does "destroy" Ringo... Pete could have been great in a band like "The Stooges" or any early Punk band...
+supraludwick83 Exactly. I completely understand why you like Pete Best and I do agree, he an amazing and talented Percussionist but I personally believe Ringo is superior in many ways, not trying to start any Flame Wars or anything, "Flame Wars The Force Awakens", that's just my opinion. I do respect both of them though.
I swear that I've followed the Beatles since about 1967 and at one point, had almost every Album that premiered songs as fresh releases. The Let it Be Album I had contained "One after 909" and that's the first time I ever heard or knew of it. So I'm really surprised that they wrote that song in 1957 and that was a year after I born! Even though I knew a lot about the Beatles, I was no 'walking encyclopedia' about the band. I just knew more about them than any other band I knew and listened to. David Gilmore, (Pink Floyd), said that he got his early ''inspirational start' from the Beatles, as many other Rock & Roll bands of the period would later admit. In fact, I think it's very difficult to say "My favorite song of all time is...". For me, it's impossible to say what my favorite all time song is. That essentially equates to: I don't have a favorite song. However, my favorite band was and still is the Beatles with a close second being Pink Floyd. I hear many similarities in the lyrics & music of the songs from both bands and even more so between the songs written by Lennon and Gilmore. Not so much the specific words or notes, but the similarity in they way that they were consistently fitting the lyrics and music together so that each of the two components, (the lyrics & music) supported one another. There are many good songs from many bands, but the really great songs are always the ones that came together in that way. It's a "genius thing" and I'm afraid that it all seemed to come to an end sometime between 2004 and 2007. History has a way of making full circles and then repeats itself. The music of this, and the last generation has truly lost the entire point and talent of the previous years. This is very likely due to the commercialism mindset of the large recording producers, who found it more profitable for them if they keep the music they'll produce in line with the trends and events of today. That way, they can sell the productions to TV & Radio commercial advertisements. They avoid bands because then they need to accept a smaller profit for themselves. In addition, the music can't be easily bargained out of the writers and band members. A large number of bands from the 70's through the 90''s have often mentioned how the production companies were constantly reconfiguring the contracts. Many interviews with writers disclose the precarious relationship with the recording labels. Large recording producers are not artistically talented, but they're certainly greed-motivated. I think the recording producers have finally got what they were shooting for and as usual, when an outside, avaricious-minded, influence imposes its guidelines, you can bet the results is a great reduction in quality and a large jump in quantity. That's the music of today, thanks to those people who worship the dollar bill. FWIW
They tried to record a version for their second British album ("Beatles For Sale") but weren't happy with any of the takes (plus George Martin didn't like the song at all) so it was dropped. A couple of the takes were combined for the first "Anthology" CD.
Pure Chuck Berry. I got a feeling "The Cavern" probably smelled like an underwater grotto. Not to be disrespectful, it just goes with Liverpool being a hard scrabble town in post WW2 England trying to better itself. I would give gold to go back and watch these boys play their songs all over again
Pero en esta version tempranera Pete Best estuvo al frente de la bataca justo antes que estos malagradecidos junto con brian epstein de dieran la patada en el trasero coordinados por george martin
I read back in 1970, just as the Beatles about to release the album Let It Be that One After 909 was one of their earlier songs as early as 1960, before the Beatles even made it to the U.S.
The Eternals - One After 909 (Beatles Tribute) Live on Cavern Club, 2016 This was The Eternals second performance in Liverpool, they are currently performing “One After 909” live at The Cavern Club, this film was released in 2016 when they went to Liverpool for their second concert as they recreate The Beatles in the early years. Justin Lee (Paul) Giovanni (George) Jorge (John) Chanyeol (Ringo) The Eternals Original Beatles Drummer “Pete Best” (Rico) was replaced by Ringo Starr as he is taking a break from drums, so Pete Best offers Ringo to take over.
Talent..belief..singing the song to how well they can feel right with doing. N the reason why they ultimately had such an influence and confidence was because they played the music with the Intention of giving the listener the best feeling (as they listened to themselves whilst playing) they put themselves In the listeners shoes n played how the song as they would like to hear it from the listeners perspective
hahaha well, i think you feel that way because this is so fresh. But in their entire catalogue there are much better. So much excellence is just hard to rank the best and the better. Did they ever phone anything in? never.

Thank you! Also, love these people saying shit about Paul singing or whatever the fuck. They both sang. Know why, people? They both wrote It! They'd know that if they read books. instead of googling shit. Anyway, you're right. BOTH versions are great, cause it's a FUCKING Beatle song!!
From the time I first heard the original version of this song on the 1995 issue of the Anthology collection, I've always liked it better than the 1970 Let It Be version. It's a rocker. You can dance to it. Their 1970 arrangement reminds me of some hillbilly music.
This is a great version. So is the spliced together one on the Anthology series. The version on Let It Be went to 7th chords and screwed up the song. Early versions are straight rock.
Mooie montage, fraai beeldmateriaal. 1 after 909 is een leuke jeugdzonde van de Beatles met een matige solo van George. Maar het gaat om de sfeer, en die is top! Mooi spul!!

And they were truly lucky to have him. But that’s not him in this video.
Brilliant - listened to it five times already. Thanks for posting.
Great song! Great footage!! Well done effort! Thanks!!
This song has such a place in my heart... BEATLES 4ever!!!❤️❤️
My new favorite Beatles song ... OMG ... Where has this been ??? ... It is from 1962 ... OMG .... !!!
Ringo isn't playing in the 1962 video ... Ringo is playing on the Roof Top ... You can sure hear the difference ... Love the film from 1962 Liverpool but ... GOOD GOD ... the sound from the ROOF TOP is the best ... THANK YOU, RONY
Ringo plays in this 1962 recording as well as in the video shot by Granada TV.
The one after 9:09 is the 9:25 departing at platform 2, Liverpool Lime Street.
A buffet is available on this train.
I saw a Morris Minor in there at about 1:08. My dad drove one of those around L.A. in the 50s.
Thank you for posting!!! I enjoyed this vídeo with all my heart.
Thank you Dos, a pleasure to so

Thanks

This video is from "Some Other Guy".
At 3:03 there is someone looking like George Martin siping… very prophetic shooting !
Ringo on drums in the Cavern sequence ,not seen any videos with Pete best yet.
When it seems that their composition like this one is not a great song for them it turn out to be great for us.

It's so funny that McCartney said it "is not a great song " , yet at the same time I feel this song is better than 90% of the music of nowadays
Pete Best is playing drums - he gave the song a real solid feel.
+Peter Wallace if Pete Best was good enough, we would never have heard of Ringo Starr
+Stan Deyo shut the fuck up... Pete rules!
I do respect both of them though.
pete best does good job on this one
Well Paul...i think it is a great song ....simple but great ....bravo ..paul

Paul's jealous. It must rough to be a musical genius and have to play second fiddle.
You can feel the song with him
WOW! A lot of energy.
This comment actually went with Gotta Get u into my life
Such a rare film,I have never see before.
I (still) ❤️ the Beatles
FWIW
Thank you sooo much for this wonderful post. Very clear and best ever for this subject.
👏👏
The earliest work of the Beatles. Historically.
Changing the time signature on this (on the Let it Be version) was a brilliant idea. Made the song so much better!
They tried to record a version for their second British album ("Beatles For Sale") but weren't happy with any of the takes (plus George Martin didn't like the song at all) so it was dropped. A couple of the takes were combined for the first "Anthology" CD.

Probably one of the first music videos ever made.
I met Cliff Richard in the shitters at Euston Station back in '62. His hoop was tight back then.
These men are talented REAL MUSIC PEOPLE!!! THESE OLD DONGS ARE GREAT!!
Eva Lustman all dongs matter Eva
These version of 1962 is quite different from version at rooftop concert in 1969
I thnk the drummer is Pete The Best in this video. Nice song by the way!!!
That's the version I remember the best ....wow loved these guys 💕
my favorite, "Beatles early tune" (didn't know it was a Paul & John composition"
one of their unforgettable from the early early days
Pure Chuck Berry. I got a feeling "The Cavern" probably smelled like an underwater grotto. Not to be disrespectful, it just goes with Liverpool being a hard scrabble town in post WW2 England trying to better itself. I would give gold to go back and watch these boys play their songs all over again
27/11/2019 I was just 17. They made my life full of dreams
🎵 Wonderful 👍 🧡 That´s Rock n Roll....
by far best version
What about Revolution no.9 and Octopus' Garden?
lymehausdj8 revolution 9 is a stupid piece of garbage

One of first songs The Beatles wrote ( John wrote when he was 17). But didn't appear on album, until their last one, Let it Be,1970

All music is timeless...40s50s60s70s......I've got 12 yo grands who caught wind... who/what are these Beatles...."they're really good"....yep.
GRANDES THE BEATLES. Saludos desde Lima Perú.
Pero en esta version tempranera Pete Best estuvo al frente de la bataca justo antes que estos malagradecidos junto con brian epstein de dieran la patada en el trasero coordinados por george martin
I was aware of this song, and they had it on the books for several years. They only put it on the last Album because they needed a song to fill the LP
I am envious of any Liverpoolian who might have been there during this.
I read back in 1970, just as the Beatles about to release the album Let It Be that One After 909 was one of their earlier songs as early as 1960, before the Beatles even made it to the U.S.
This was really well done.
The Eternals - One After 909
(Beatles Tribute)
Live on Cavern Club, 2016
This was The Eternals second performance in Liverpool, they are currently performing “One After 909” live at The Cavern Club, this film was released in 2016 when they went to Liverpool for their second concert as they recreate The Beatles in the early years.
Justin Lee (Paul)
Giovanni (George)
Jorge (John)
Chanyeol (Ringo)
The Eternals Original Beatles Drummer “Pete Best” (Rico) was replaced by Ringo Starr as he is taking a break from drums, so Pete Best offers Ringo to take over.

I think that this is perhaps the best song that The Beatles ever did!
Have you seen this one: ruclips.net/video/uH_tYi9cxZM/видео.html About John Lennon?
hahaha well, i think you feel that way because this is so fresh. But in their entire catalogue there are much better. So much excellence is just hard to rank the best and the better. Did they ever phone anything in? never.
Adoro está música sou Beatlemaniaco
Good video, I like the old footage
thx. I just made it for fun. Used only material what is available on the internet.
Peter Mader It's great. I made an amateur Beatles sketch a couple of months ago. If you or anyone else wants to see it, simply just type in the following.....Beatles sketch with snippets

Esses caras sim, tinham história pra contar.
"This is Way better than let it be version" well stfu already, both are awesome
Thank you! Also, love these people saying shit about Paul singing or whatever the fuck. They both sang. Know why, people? They both wrote It! They'd know that if they read books. instead of googling shit. Anyway, you're right. BOTH versions are great, cause it's a FUCKING Beatle song!!
Thank god they waited for this song...these guys were too intelligent man.

@@petermadervlogger nothing to do with one after 909
@@frankmccormick1175 True, but i like to play around with Beatle stuff
LOVE PETE BEST GREAT DRUMMER AND KICK ASS 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁👍💜
This is Ringo playing
From the time I first heard the original version of this song on the 1995 issue of the Anthology collection, I've always liked it better than the 1970 Let It Be version. It's a rocker. You can dance to it. Their 1970 arrangement reminds me of some hillbilly music.
This is the first time I heard this version. Let It Be version is my fav. I mean don’t get me wrong this is great too.
Put on 1,25 speed and you have the let it be/ rooftop concert version ... Well kind of
I love it so much ❤️✨🤗
This is a great version.
Mooi spul!!
Hebat sekali The Beatles ini Bah.....

Early on, they established and polished their landmark "dual lead vocal" singing in harmonies...
Seriously good for 1962. They could play
