It just kills me all the music critics on board..Ringo's this, Pete's that. George's solo sounds is this and that...You know what - they were kids with no formal training, no great sounds systems...etc, etc. They pretty much taught themselves to play and created a new sound in the process. So let's stop wandering is Ringo was the better drummer..comparing George to other lead guitarists..because they set the standard for ALL bands to follow.

Grew up in Liverpool and saw The Beatles in the Cavern mainly at lunch time do's. Their playing was raw and real not the crap that is turned out now. You should have seen them at the Hamburg KaiserKellar, that where they learned the business.
They were fantastic days and I'm so glad that I lived through it. I pity all todays teens with MP3 and the Internet, you miss so much about real live music.

They also have recordings of this song they did in Hamburg on their first visit sometime between Aug. 17 and Nov. 30, 1960 during rehearsals with Pete Best and Stu Sutcliffe. This one was from Sept. 1962 shortly after Ringo became the drummer.

It's fantastic to hear this Cavern rehearsal version of One After 909, I didn't even know it existed! Listening to the snare fills, it's definitely Ringo on drums - Pete Best's snare fills were considerably more primitive, and the accented bass drum thumps are pure Ringo. Thanks for posting, Juan!

The drummer is Ringo (just a short time in the Beatles): Cavern Club rehearsal recordings; probably October 1962.

Lennon just had that something to his voice. He was the yin to Paul's yang. Really, with the technology, it is amazing that this can sound so good. Is this 1962?

    • @Elvis-Pelvis03
      @Elvis-Pelvis03 7 лет назад +2

wpollock1 It was due to Twist And Shout on the Please Please Me album. It put so much stress on his voice since he was sick while singing the song. After that song, he sang differently through out The Beatles.

This is indisputably Ringo on drums. The full rehearsal tape also includes 'I Saw Her Standing There', which wasn't written until late October / early November 1962 and finished by John and Paul December 1962. Pete Best was sacked from the band in August '62, before 'Standing There' was written. Then there's the fact that the drumming sounds exactly like Ringo, and not Pete Best...

My baby said she's trav'ling on the one after 909
I said move over honey I'm traveling on that line
I said move over once, move over twice
Come on baby don't be cold as ice.
Said she's trav'ling on the one after 909.
I begged her not to go and I begged her on my bended knees,
You're only fooling around, you're fooling around with me.
I said move over once, move over twice
Come on baby don't be cold as ice.
Said she's trav'ling on the one after 909.
I got my bag, run to the station
Railman says you've got the the wrong location
I got my bag, run right home
Then I find I've got the number wrong
Well she said she's trav'ling on the one after 909
I said move over honey I'm traveling on that line
I said move over once, move over twice
Come on baby don't be cold as ice.
Said she's trav'ling on the one after 909.
I got my bag, run to the station
Railman says you've got the the wrong location
I got my bag, run right home
Then I find I've got the number wrong

I said move over honey I'm traveling on that line
I said move over once, move over twice
Come on baby don't be cold as ice.
Said she's trav'ling on the one after 9-0,
Said she's trav'ling on the one after 9-0,
Said she's trav'ling on the one after 909.

This number was recorded again for the
"Let It Be" album in 1969 (with Ringo on drums).
This original version was done back in 1960 or 1961
when Pete Best was drummer, with John and Paul on vocals.
Pete Best never sang during his tenure with The Beatles,
but Ringo did when he performed lead vocals in
"I Wanna Be Your Man", "What Goes On", "Act Naturally",
"Yellow Submarine", "With A Little Help From My Friends",
"Don't Pass Me By", "Goodnight", and "Octopus's Garden".

It's great that you included so many photos of the early Beatles when Pete Best was their drummer, then transitioned images of Ringo. Some Beatles fans like to slam Pete Best, but I am among those who truly appreciate him. They were all still in their teens, and Pete was good enough to help them get to the launch pad. He was with them in Hamburg when they were grinding out endless gigs, sleeping on cots behind a porn cinema, and he helped John fight off the thugs who were beating the brains out of Stu Sutcliffe. He was (and still is) a stand up guy. Ringo is the fab, and better drummer, but why shit on Pete Best? He played an important part in their history, and I consider him THE original Beatles drummer.
