I come from a long line of firefighters over 100 years my brother right across the river Jersey City, New Jersey 20+ years… firefighters are a rare breed unlike the thin blue line. These guys actually helped the community.
There was a fire. A bunch of dudes in red trucks wearing black coats showed up to the fire. They broke some stuff, sprayed some water, broke some more stuff and then there was no more fire. What other info do you need my brudda?
That’s just making the front entry safe. Free burning and stuff falling over the main entrance. Simple to put the fire in check to gain entry. Plus it met them at the door on the entry floor.
I hear what your saying but after 33 years, 20 on Rescue: having the nozzle three men back made no sense to me the two hard chargers at the door needed the line more if what you say is what was facing them. If the small amount of debris falling was a concern then they shoulda given it a quick hit from the get go while bleeding the air from the line before making the push inside. The nozzleman was definitely trying to put out the bedrooms-and achieved SFA. Maybe he was a rookie and they wanted to give him nozzle time I don’t know. If it was my crew I would have given him some debrief after.
@@kengaskin8304 Where you there to see the front of Side A (1) to see what was presented to the first due companies. Do know what the front entrance into the apartment looked like? From my perspective, the truck company forced a door, and truck companies do not carry a hose line, maybe in your 33 hear, 20 on a rescue, maybe you do, FDNY as most city trucks don’t carry hose, they carry FE tools. Not sure what SFA is, outside of Stress First Aid, but it appears, they (Engine Company) were protecting the stairs to gain access or egress, then use transitional attack, followed by interior attack to the 2nd floor.
@ I see it in the NYC buff early arrival Queens clip. Looks to me like the FE team is on the bottom outside stairs. Straight shot at opening of clip Alpha view your Side 1.
The nyc fire dept doesn’t use any pre connected attack lines. Professional fire dept. Know when to break the line. And some stretches reach ridiculous lengths.
4-5 mins? You watching the same video I did? @0:45 min mark they arrive and hop off the truck. @3:16 the line is charged and @3:51 they open up the line. So from arrival to getting water on the fire is just over 3 mins.
@@kevinjones1993 I observed the same. Line was in place before MPO had hydrant water and attack line connected. Line operated into doorway prior to second floor window.

New construction is so dirt cheap the damn thing is already falling apart. Good job, strange No saws.
Firewalls worked, no extension into the attached units.
Yeah good video but more information would be nice

I assume you must have been there? Do you take into consideration, that the stairs and front entrance was involved in fire?

No preconnect??? Wtf?

Deadman loads, mute stretch in NYC is usually more than a pre connect.
