It's also funny that she went to Philly to make those records. That Pop Art production is unmistakable! This easily could've been a Steady B record.
Poet now goes by Blaq Poet and is still puttin' out dope music after all these years. He's even on KRS One & Marley Marl's album that came out a couple of years ago so they sqashed their little beef i guess.

thanx for the props. shante' was a pioneer. if she was active today,she'd eat up today's competition male and female! much of today's mainstream hip hop is garbage and about 40% of the underground scene is not as hot as it used to be.

One of the Queen's hardest jams like "Bite This". Now a doctor; go ahead girl. My field is also psychology. No female rapper even comes close to Roxanne Shante. I remember going to house parties back in the 80's with beat-box competitions, boom boxes and fly girls everywhere. We would jam to Roxanne Shante and the Juice Crew all night long. Her jam "Big Mama" ate 'em all up. Whodini, Steady B, Doug E. Fresh and Schoolly D were rockin it back then too. Anyone know whatever happened to MC Poet?
shyne1913- I have every single Shante track,Including Bad Sista LP that big mama is on- Without a doubt "Bite This" is the hardest all around track in terms of beat, Marley's cuttin and rhymes. and the POP ART UK PRESSINGS- the worst diss she ever gave was towards Sparky D- Big Moma she just disses everyone Bite This is where Marley Marl goes off on the cuts no other Shante record matches

Bet no one can tell me what’s the source of the drums? I think it’s a combination of the Roland 909 Kik and 808 Snare Drum with The Headhunters God Made Me Funky drum samples.
