I know each MK game is different, but some features some continue/improve or be similar and intros/outros and kustomize in general is something that could make MK1 like A+ perfect. Its got the fighting, its got great skins, arenas, and I can live without some finishers.. but give us some more kustomize options/gear rewsrds and ill shut up forever lol
What small details? I don’t really understand the hate this game gets. The only complaint I would say is the female Cyrax and Sektor. If they had given you the small details you wanted, would you be happy?

You made a lot of good points. I'll focus on one. I think when it comes to the Kameos they should've used characters that weren't on the main roster. I'm cool with Kuai Liang being Scorpion but if you have a Hanzo Kameo it's only going to make older fans feel some type of way. I'm cool with female Sektor and Cyrax. However, if you have their classic male versions as Kameos... people may feel some type of way. I liked the elemental Kameos in story mode. Also, they could've had some real fun with Kameos like making one of those Shadow Priests from MK2 a Kameo. I'm a stickler for not having duplicate characters.
Omg the shadow priest would've been brilliant. Seriously, they could've used a few of the enemies we know from previous games likes Shang's island guard with the spear. Great comment 🙌
The guest characters Homelander, Omni Man and Peacemaker were my motivation to buy MK1. If they weren't in the game I'd do what I always do with MK games which is buy when the game is dead to pay cheap for everything. I don't care for online.
If the game is done after T-1000, then they should look at which playable DLC characters are close to completion and add them to the game to complete the main roster selection screen.
BRILLIANT content once again, my friend. Absolutely beyond. Perfect arguments presented for both sides of the coin. I agree entirely with you on the kameo roster. It makes no sense to have some of the main roster also appearing as kameos. Would have much rather have been some of the lesser known characters from the 3D area appear here, such as Jarek, Dairou, Hotaru, Kai etc. I enjoy the fact that some of the historical characters from MK appear in the game, even if they are less significant to the main story and appear as kameos.

The kameos are literally PTW, the kameo system as a whole is a cash grab. If you only use dlc kameos it’s no wonder you’re having fun lol. Have you played with base kameos and base characters? I’m literally top 1500 both ranked and casual. There’s no variety. The gameplay feels dull because everyone uses the same few characters and kameos. I haven’t seen a geras, mileena, quan chi, li mei, general shao, Shang tsung, Jonny, raiden, Omni man, takeda, kitana, reiko, I fought my first rain in like months just today, hell I haven’t even fought a scorpion in a while. It’s always the same few characters, same few kameos, with the same big damage. It’s easy to say you’re having fun when your DLC kameo literally recharges twice as fast with like 3 times more versatility. Isn’t it ? (Rhetorical question in case the people who cope say other wise lol) if they aren’t using khameleon they’re using Janet cage. The game just feels so one dimensional. Mkx and even mk11 were way more versatile than this pile of shit. :| upload sets with good players and not washed mfs using dlc kameos while you use base characters and kameos and you’ll see just how much better they are. And if you use Kung Lao w goro congrats. He’s probably the one free set up that’s decent. But I miss the days when you could literally pick almost anyone. You can’t pick anyone in mk1 and get the W. Not if you’re a FTP player that is. This is more of a balancing issue then a kameo issue but the point still stands.

Absolutely! Mortal Kombat 1 is far, far, far from dead, and the community’s energy is proof of that! The ongoing updates, new content, and exciting future prospects show that MK1 is here to stay. Haters may talk, but the real fans know how much MK1 still has to offer. Can’t wait to see what’s next here’s to a long and epic journey ahead! And I have to say, the Christmas Tower of Time is amazing it’s a perfect way to celebrate the holidays in style!
I Played the original MK in the Arcade then MK2 in the arcade then all of them on homes consoles. I like MK1 game play I like the kameos as it give you an extra move you wouldn’t normally have. The cons - no pit fatalities, no friendships and babalities which came as standard in the original trilogy. The other things is continual changes made to the special moves just keep the original inputs for them and where is Liu Kangs dragon fatality I still remember the mk2 input for it D,F,B,B,HK. That’s just my thoughts.
I’ve been playing Mortal Kombat 1 since the beta and early release. I’ve been enjoying it all the way through the updates and each DLC character and Invasion season

As a lifelong MK fan, MK1 would've easily been my favourite MK, especially with its amazing roster. Other than Shao, Rain and Cyrax, most of the characters are my favourite iterations of them. Back in the MKX days, I was not a huge fan of the variation system and felt that it cut the full character into 3 separate pieces. With kameos I don't feel the same way, I actually quite like the addition. The gameplay mechanics in MK1 are the best they have ever been. Upblocks notably being one of the best additions. However, there are some major issues with the game not being fixed. 1- The game balance is still quite off and playing Kombat League makes you experience it tenfold. 2- The PC port still runs pretty bad, since Khaos Reigns it's gotten a bit better, but the stutters doing FBs and certain hits are bad and can't be excused for a fighting game. 3- The lack of kontent with gamemodes as well as skins is pretty sad to see. Even if it was unbalanced af, I think most players would've loved a tag team or kameoless mode. As well as adding a skin or two for DLC characters. 4- The story and writing need a lot of improvements... If it wasn't for these issues MK1 would easily be the best MK for me
@jaiden3473 In terms of looks and demeanour, definitely MK9 Shao Kahn. NRS definitely nailed him perfectly in that game. Sadly we didn't get to play him there, but MK11 Shao Kahn was really fun to play.
truth be told i didnt actually buy mk1 so ita hard for me to give my own ratings, my assessment of it is based on what was in the story + what is readily available to see and experience on youtube. i give the story a 6.5-7/10. i had a lot of fun with it to start but then once the titan shang tsung reveal happened it started feeling like a drag to get through. though i may be biased because im just bitter we didnt get to see much more of outworld or its characters from that point on lol. i like many of the designs, ashrah and reptile look amazing imo. outworlds royalty really do not look royal at all tbh, they all look incredibly underdressed. not in a "too skimpy" way but in that it looks like they were meant to wear more but had to rush getting dressed in the morning and forgot major pieces to their clothes. also WAYYYYYYY too many open toed shoes. id give designs maybe a 6 out of 10. and then for intro dialogues id give it a 5 out of 10, i much prefer the 3 line exchanges from mkx and mk11
I picked it up in August and have played it for 322 hours since then so I can only comment as someone that has played it a lot for five months. I much prefer it to MK11 which I had a long time ago but never really got into. I think I installed it two or three times and rolled it off soon after to free up drive space. So, 322 hours tells you I like it, but I do see flaws and issues that mean I’ll not be picking up the £25 complete game currently being offered on Steam (currently playing on PS5). I’m not into the modifiers which make fights more a thing of chance than a testament of skill. I don’t like that Invasions now insists you have to play the so called ‘optional’ mini games if you want to get all the keys to open all the chests. Feels like a forced ‘you will have fun’ doing something that gives zero pleasure. So I have three unopened chests that will stay unopened. The empty shrine tasks me every time someone says ‘You can get that skin in the Shrine’… There’s nothing in the shrine… will there ever be anything in the shrine again? The only game currency I never have enough of is Dragon Krystals and I’m not tempted to pay out more cash for what amounts to some cosmetics. I could grind each character to the max for a couple of hundred each, but that’s an awful lot of grinding when it’s a character that doesn’t speak to you or your fighting style. Way too much of a grind for me… I’m not hugely into the Kameos and generally leave mine to enter and leave as they see fit. I’d much prefer a two character team like in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite than the muted Kameo offering. The game itself has decent enough mechanics and it’s pretty on the eye and I’ll no doubt put a few more hundred hours into it, but other games are already calling me and hours played per week are beginning to tumble at the expense of other titles. If they hadn’t altered the key system and actually had stuff in the Shrine maybe my attention would have waned less quickly as it has this past month. It could have been great, but at present it’s just an ok from me.
The game is still trash but if folks still like/play it cool. Doesn't make it great for everyone. Hopefully the next game isn't like this one. But I guess we'll see.🤷🏽♂

Try and look for pink potions (Doubles stats) and Translucency Orbs(I think it's called that, but it renders you immune to projectiles). I have not yet reached 73 in the tower, but these have been a life saver for me so far. Also, play through invasions. There are a few nodes throughout the mesas that will reward you with full herbs and boosters, so you can just farm those for a small amount of krowns. My personal favorite is in Shang Tsung's Lab Mesa, First Floor, locked behind the Nether Stone Gate. There's an Animal Kombat, where you do the selected animality, and you get a full herb. My Geras is practically a tank rn, haha. Hope this helps, dude. Best of luck! 👊
Scotty I really like mk 1 as well but i have do disagree on Omni man,and homelander as better suited for injustice peacemaker I could maybe see in injustice maybe but as brutal as Omni man and homelander are in there shows I wouldn't want them in injustice wouldn't work . Otherwise I agree with everything pretty much, I prefer the fighting in this game i playyed a bit if mk11 the other day and man wth it felt so weird, then again I've been playing mafia alot but mk1 is so much better than 11.
Thanks for the comment man! This is what I'm looking for. MK fans sharing respectable disagreements and conversations. I just find the caped anti-hero/hero characters to be more fitting for IJ if they could scale back their violence similar to how MKvsDC scaled back MK's roster. Like changing trading the shoes. However, most MK fans weren't fans of "heroic brutalities" in MK8 to make it work so I can see how you probably wouldn't like Omni/Homelander in IJ. There's some things I love in MK11 but we're on the same page choosing MK1 over it. I hope you're having a good evening brother

Minimum effort? It has excellent presentation, and the game feel is good with minimal glitches. You have every right to have an opinion, such as you don’t like the way the presentation looks, or you don’t care for the gameplay, but looking at this game, and playing it. You’re actually wrong about it being rushed.
I stuck up for this game for so long but when we found out that kombat pack 3 was most likely scratched while practically at the same time going into repeat seasons, I lost all ambition to play this game. Went back to MK11 and gonna focus on character towers when not in kombat league. I've only completed them for the 6 or 7 characters that I play so learning the rest of the characters should be fun. It's a shame. Unfortunately, I think the supreme game lies in between the mechanics of MK11 and MK1.. and we'll never see it.
Janet Cage is definitely well a complete WTF? Originally it was supposed to be OG Johnny Cage then switched last minute. That's just one of the many things they flipped the finger on. Hehe. Warrior's Shrine should had been addressed as soon as NRS started seeing the fanbase. Assuming it was online lobbies or a KL store. You said it well! There are some things that didn't land with MK1, mostly extra kontent, but this is the game has only improved elsewhere. Its best feature is the core of what makes a mortal kombat game fun and thats the gameplay. The guts of it. The reason to jump in and fight. MK has such a giant casual audience (especially after 11). Nothing wrong with newcomers! But some/others hit the bandwagon when things don't go there way. You're right on with haters always hating and celebrating anything that isn't received well, they want to see it fail to get their point across (even when its irrelevant). Whatever it is that can give them ammo. Some people just whine to whine. If someone knows how to use kameos and doesn't like them, fair. 100%. I know kameos turned the difficulty up a little (and its fun as hell). However soo many casuals couldn't pick up on it and ride that horse into the sunset and blame it for other reasons. I'm enjoying MK1 while its still the newest, and I'm going to miss it when the next big MK drops. The fights and designs (mostly classic for me), along with some amazing stages cement this as one of the best MK's of all time. The more for MK1, the merrier. There's been some odd choices in this game, like Janet/mirror kameos, etc. But this game is so fun. I wanted to share my fair take on what's great and what's lacking. I want to see some other pros and cons from people who like MK1. I still enjoy the game not a big fan never played old mk only mk11 mk1 and personally its really fun for me

Sadly we didn't get to play him there, but MK11 Shao Kahn was really fun to play.
Still love the game and I am aware it has some flaws. I don't care what any one say and plus the demons in kombat league need to be punished 😂
truth be told i didnt actually buy mk1 so ita hard for me to give my own ratings, my assessment of it is based on what was in the story + what is readily available to see and experience on youtube. i give the story a 6.5-7/10. i had a lot of fun with it to start but then once the titan shang tsung reveal happened it started feeling like a drag to get through. though i may be biased because im just bitter we didnt get to see much more of outworld or its characters from that point on lol. i like many of the designs, ashrah and reptile look amazing imo. outworlds royalty really do not look royal at all tbh, they all look incredibly underdressed. not in a "too skimpy" way but in that it looks like they were meant to wear more but had to rush getting dressed in the morning and forgot major pieces to their clothes. also WAYYYYYYY too many open toed shoes. id give designs maybe a 6 out of 10. and then for intro dialogues id give it a 5 out of 10, i much prefer the 3 line exchanges from mkx and mk11

I picked it up in August and have played it for 322 hours since then so I can only comment as someone that has played it a lot for five months.
I much prefer it to MK11 which I had a long time ago but never really got into. I think I installed it two or three times and rolled it off soon after to free up drive space.
So, 322 hours tells you I like it, but I do see flaws and issues that mean I’ll not be picking up the £25 complete game currently being offered on Steam (currently playing on PS5).
I’m not into the modifiers which make fights more a thing of chance than a testament of skill.
I don’t like that Invasions now insists you have to play the so called ‘optional’ mini games if you want to get all the keys to open all the chests. Feels like a forced ‘you will have fun’ doing something that gives zero pleasure. So I have three unopened chests that will stay unopened.
The empty shrine tasks me every time someone says ‘You can get that skin in the Shrine’… There’s nothing in the shrine… will there ever be anything in the shrine again?
The only game currency I never have enough of is Dragon Krystals and I’m not tempted to pay out more cash for what amounts to some cosmetics.
I could grind each character to the max for a couple of hundred each, but that’s an awful lot of grinding when it’s a character that doesn’t speak to you or your fighting style. Way too much of a grind for me…
I’m not hugely into the Kameos and generally leave mine to enter and leave as they see fit. I’d much prefer a two character team like in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite than the muted Kameo offering.
The game itself has decent enough mechanics and it’s pretty on the eye and I’ll no doubt put a few more hundred hours into it, but other games are already calling me and hours played per week are beginning to tumble at the expense of other titles.
If they hadn’t altered the key system and actually had stuff in the Shrine maybe my attention would have waned less quickly as it has this past month.
It could have been great, but at present it’s just an ok from me.

Try and look for pink potions (Doubles stats) and Translucency Orbs(I think it's called that, but it renders you immune to projectiles). I have not yet reached 73 in the tower, but these have been a life saver for me so far.
Also, play through invasions. There are a few nodes throughout the mesas that will reward you with full herbs and boosters, so you can just farm those for a small amount of krowns. My personal favorite is in Shang Tsung's Lab Mesa, First Floor, locked behind the Nether Stone Gate. There's an Animal Kombat, where you do the selected animality, and you get a full herb. My Geras is practically a tank rn, haha.

Scotty I really like mk 1 as well but i have do disagree on Omni man,and homelander as better suited for injustice peacemaker I could maybe see in injustice maybe but as brutal as Omni man and homelander are in there shows I wouldn't want them in injustice wouldn't work . Otherwise I agree with everything pretty much, I prefer the fighting in this game i playyed a bit if mk11 the other day and man wth it felt so weird, then again I've been playing mafia alot but mk1 is so much better than 11.
Thanks for the comment man! This is what I'm looking for. MK fans sharing respectable disagreements and conversations. I just find the caped anti-hero/hero characters to be more fitting for IJ if they could scale back their violence similar to how MKvsDC scaled back MK's roster.
Like changing trading the shoes. However, most MK fans weren't fans of "heroic brutalities" in MK8 to make it work so I can see how you probably wouldn't like Omni/Homelander in IJ.

Minimum effort? It has excellent presentation, and the game feel is good with minimal glitches. You have every right to have an opinion, such as you don’t like the way the presentation looks, or you don’t care for the gameplay, but looking at this game, and playing it. I stuck up for this game for so long but when we found out that kombat pack 3 was most likely scratched while practically at the same time going into repeat seasons, I lost all ambition to play this game. Went back to MK11 and gonna focus on character towers when not in kombat league. I've only completed them for the 6 or 7 characters that I play so learning the rest of the characters should be fun. It's a shame. Unfortunately, I think the supreme game lies in between the mechanics of MK11 and MK1.. and we'll never see it.

Warrior's Shrine should had been addressed as soon as NRS started seeing the fanbase. Assuming it was online lobbies or a KL store. You said it well! There are some things that didn't land with MK1, mostly extra kontent, but this is the game has only improved elsewhere. Its best feature is the core of what makes a mortal kombat game fun and thats the gameplay. The guts of it. The reason to jump in and fight. MK has such a giant casual audience (especially after 11). Nothing wrong with newcomers! But some/others hit the bandwagon when things don't go there way. You're right on with haters always hating and celebrating anything that isn't received well, they want to see it fail to get their point across (even when its irrelevant). Whatever it is that can give them ammo.

I know kameos turned the difficulty up a little (and its fun as hell). However soo many casuals couldn't pick up on it and ride that horse into the sunset and blame it for other reasons.
I'm enjoying MK1 while its still the newest, and I'm going to miss it when the next big MK drops.
The fights and designs (mostly classic for me), along with some amazing stages cement this as one of the best MK's of all time.
The more for MK1, the merrier. There's been some odd choices in this game, like Janet/mirror kameos, etc.
But this game is so fun.
I wanted to share my fair take on what's great and what's lacking.
I want to see some other pros and cons from people who like MK1. I also wanted to do this because I feel like sometimes people can't share both sides without feeling like they'll get labeled as a hater or shill.
