Hi Danny, this was one of our ideas in the beginning, but like Chrontard says, there are so many variants of shafts. Also, we want to make sure that every bar has a durability we can put our name on, and that leaves only a very few bar manufacturers (Eleiko, Kabuki etc.)
That system you describle would have to be unique to one company who endeavours to make "compatibility" a selling point. Posture this idea on Dragons Den, it might do well.
this bar is pretty cool and they (gungnir) tested it rigorously. the collars were holding like 215kg on their side, tandem deadlift at 500kg, they dropped it from height with alot of weight
That first clamp is genius 😲 I have a home gym as well and have more clamps now but when I only had a set of 2 and multiple people using things at once. someone’s not getting clamps. Which was fine we made sure we were safe but man that was a pain
I fabricated a single piece of steel and added a quick release handle for a friction grip collar device. It can vertically hold 500 lbs and does not slip under pressure.
Implement this into standard sized dumbell handles and you could make a fortune!! Dumbell sets are so expensive, that a lot of people just buy handles and plates and then change the weight... but it sucks screwing the collars off and on. This would be so worth it to me!
They need to come up with a collar that sits at the end of a sleeve. So we can max out a sleeve with actual plates. That would be revolutionary. It's like 5 bumpers and a collar.
My idea would be a T plate that screws into the end cap, with ball bearing in the end of the screw to stabilise, then a small remote control to release the ball bearing to unscrew and additional headless bolt to put in as to not compromise bar strength
I got two of those to my gym in june. As a gym owner I would say its totally worth it. I earn the back by spearing the time of sorting collars every day. I would say its Eleiko standard.
This would've come in handy a few days ago as I forgot to put on the collar on one end and as a result all my plates slipped off while squatting. Broken window too. All of which was captured on video and available on my channel. 😡

13:50 the only way to fix that would be to have weight plates that are exactly as thick as a multiple of the width of those ridges (so if those ridges are 1/8 of an inch, the weight plates' width would have to be an even multiple of 1/8 of an inch).
