Precisely why I stopped playing COD years ago. As a USMC Veteran who enjoyed the first few games being military-like, the moment COD went Resident Evil, Silent Hill, etc is when they lost me. Kind of like Farcry 1 vs the other game releases. Why developers deviate from their initial story lines I have no clue.
The story was never simple, that's why they added a timeline sheet explaining all events. What's missing is discovery and mystery, but it seems that bo6 is kinda heading that direction.. kinda, won't know until it releases

There was meant to be 8 maps on bo4 zombies, long story short Activision was greedy after the success of bo3, and with their new gamemode blackout a lot of the team was divided while zombies got pushed to the side, i really like the chaos crew, it's sad it got abandoned I still prefer the chaos story over the dark aether.
I'm pretty sure that story is actually canon in the dark aether story somehow, as in the shi no numa remake from vanguard krafft mentions alistair rhodes in a radio. im not sure how its gonna be worked into this story but i hope it gives some more chaos content.
