You don't need the DLC to receive the Mythical Pecha Berry event, but you do to play the epilogue and actually catch Pecharunt. It's an important distinction for anyone that has the base game, but doesnt plan on playing the dlc for a while

Right now the only other Pokémon game or app that has gifts is Pokémon Home, if you don’t count stuff like unique redeem codes. (PokéBall Plus Mew)
