Looking at it I imagine that tower is just a periscope-like extension from a larger base or vehicle beneath the ice. Cool idea for a simple but atmospheric addition to the Cobra forces!
Thanks. That’s what I had in mind. This is just one of many entrances to a larger facility 👍
That castle your grand dad made you is awesome.
Thank you. He was a pretty amazing dude.
@@ActionRobotPunch what was his training? Was he a carpenter or welder?
@@ActionRobotPunch I'm just curious. I'm new to customizing
Nice. Looks great. Defintely looks like a back entrance to an artica base.
Thank you.
This is some of the best work I've seen in dioramas taking some the most simple things and making it into a work of art is no easy job. overall great video
Thank you for the kind words. I’m glad you liked it.
@@ActionRobotPunch np
Wow. Kudos to you and your grandpa
Thanks, that's appreciated.
Really you could make one for any terrain. Camouflage it and it fits in a woodland playscape. Great job!
Yeah absolutely. I was thinking of giving it attach points. Sort of hint that is was prefab and it could be airlifted to where ever in the world it was needed. Then camoed up to match the terrain like you suggest. I think your comment has sparked a new project! Thanks for the comment and for watching.
@@ActionRobotPunch I'm envisioning it to be more of an entry point to and underground facility much like the sheild generator bunker in ROTJ. I like your idea of a small portable unit that can be dropped in different environments and be used for outposts or communications.
Very good. You have lots of imagination and skills. 10/10
Thank you very much!
Love this, My grandson was given a small suitcase full of action figures not just G.I. Joe's but the knock-off from like Dollar Tree, Dollar General and "Military" figures from Wal- mart too so I'm going to build him a homemade for his play room with both "good guy" and "bad guy" bases but I'm basically like a post apocalyptic bases, like the war between G.I. Joe and Cobra is over, they destroyed each other and they joined forces with their lesser known counterparts and combined into 1 group to keep fighting.
Great to hear about folks enjoying their Gi Joes! Thanks for watching.
As for me who is just recently getting back into the 3.75 scale. I really appreciate the information you have. I want to get into customization with bases and other stuff. You sir have my attention.
Great. Glad you found some useful information.
Those miter/razor saws are awesome, way better than a dremel that leaves nasty cuts.
Agreed. I avoided getting one for years then finally did and wish I'd gotten one sooner.
Very nice awesome paint job and looks fantastic in the snow.
Thanks so much!
That castle is so cool.
Thanks. My grandfather must have had a fun time building it.
This was amazing! I'd love to see more creations like this 😎
The best thing was his Grandfathers Castle! so amazing!
@@HappyConsoleGamer Heck yeah!
Thanks so much. I’m hoping to do some more soon. Maybe A desert outpost. It’s summer here so something easy to bring to the beach for setup in the sand or dirt.
Awesome! Wish i would have thought like that when i had my collection. Yo Joe!
It was a fun project. Thanks for watching 👍
Very cool and imaginative.
Thanks, glad you liked it.
Dude this is super rad! Thanks for sharing this video! I really appreciate how you take the time to explain things simply and encouragingly. I'm looking forward to your desert base and other variations! Yo Jobra!
That's really great to hear. Thanks so much.
Ladder would look cool hanging from the top, like a drop-down to avoid unwanted murderers using it to climb up.
Ah great idea. Maybe like a fire escape type mechanism. Thanks.
@@ActionRobotPunch That's the term I was looking for, heh. Very nice video, good luck.
Excelente trabalho
Very cool
Amazing! ! !
This gives me inspiration for my own future base for my action figures. awesome custom base dude.
Thank you. Good luck with the custom base 👍
Lots of good info here. I enjoy the pace and detail of how you explain your process, and the finished product looks great!
Thanks for the great feedback. Glad you enjoyed it.
Looks great, love it! Subbed.
Thanks so much.
Awesome work! Can't wait to try this out
Thanks for watching. I hope it goes well!
Oh this is really Nice!! and is making me think of all the things I could make with the dozens and dozens of old G.I.Joe vehicles, figures and playsets I have in storage. I love this channel.
Wow, thanks for that. If these videos inspired you then that's the greatest compliment of all. Thank you.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, glad you liked it.
@@ActionRobotPunch loved it
Great tutorial!!
Thank you!
Awesome build really gives me some great ideas
Awesome. I love being inspired and inspiring others.
That is incredible! I really like how that came out. =D It also looks like one could make a sci fi variant on that as well.
Absolutely. The rounded form is very sci-fi but Cobra has always been on the sci-fi side in my opinion so it works for them. I'm not sure I could use the same parts for a Gi Joe type base. Their stuff is more conventional. But this could surely be used for Star Wars or similar. And thanks for the kind words!
Awesome build!💥😯👏🏿👏🏿😁👍🏿
Thank you!
Compliment for your work!!!
Thank you so much.
This is a absolute blast of a project I'd like to make one similar!!! I hope to see more scratch built projects!
Thank you, I’m planning more 👍
Love this!!!
Thanks.
Great work, I'm always looking at the shape of random objects trying to imagine what part they could become for a diorama or other craft project.
And thanks for the tutorial links.
Thank you! Cheers!
excelente
Awesome
Thanks
Really glad I found your videos. Really fond memories of my GI Joes (Action Force in the UK) . I’ve kept a few of my favourite characters and my comics but unfortunately not my figures.
Seeing your videos makes me regret selling them off many years ago! Subscribed 😊
Glad you enjoyed it. I sold all my collection off a while back and have been slowly rebuilding so it's never too late to get back into it. One reason I started fixing and modding Gi Joe toys is to save money and not going for the mint version. Thanks again.
@@ActionRobotPunch dont tempt me lol! I model armour and aircraft so 3 3/4 inch isn’t too far away! 😁
All the best, Ian
Awesomeness 👌
Thanks 🤗
cool channel and greets from Venezuela
Hello and thank you
Cool work.
Between your vids and Chris Shales(Empire Toy Works), makes me want to construct a whole new room (or building!) for dios.
I'd love to have a big room to work in and display my stuff. Empire Toys is really inspiring. That space station is the ultimate playset!
This is an excellent build. The coffee ring to fix the curvature of the top section is ingenious. This is something I've tried to fix many times less elegantly and less successfully. Good advice about the asymmetry of detail and shape composition, as well.
If you'll permit me to make a few suggestions from my experience creating structures for tabletop wargames, I would fill in the gaps on the side of the light/sensor above the door and the angle brackets around the circular rim using either thin plasticard cut to shape, chipboard, or for smaller gaps, just fill it in with sculpting putty. Once the base coat is dry, you can bring out the details, especially on the machinery and access panels, by hitting it with a wash of very watered-down paint. White can be difficult to wash without making it look gray, but if you use the right shade and limit your application to the areas you want to accentuate it will work. And you can always drybrush over the sections that are too dark. Finally, you can get a more controlled application of weathering by speckling the darker paint on with a sponge.
Great tips! Thanks.
BIG APPLAUSE, subbed, liked
Thanks so much!
Just subscribed. AMAZING content. Where were you when I was a kid???
You can use the grooves in your mitre box to draw straight lines on tubes too
Oh man, that's a great tip. I never thought of using the box for anything other than cutting. Thanks!
Now you know. And knowing is half the battle👍
It was always fun to see those at the end of the show.
the other half is red and blue lasers
Sorry, this is 9 months old so it's necromancy, but I just want to say I really like this, and I'm stealing the idea.
My version is going to be a submarine tower, so it looks like it's breaking through the ice, but thank you for giving me a new project!
I love the idea and I make these to share ideas and how-to info. I'd love to a do a cross-section version of what you describe where you could see the ladder down into the sub pen/base. Too many cool ideas and not enough time! Thanks for watching and I hope to see your final project!
@@ActionRobotPunch STOP GIVING ME IDEAS! :D
Yes i did the same thing. I had all the guys but not many vehicles. I made alot of trucks. Tanks and helicopters. Another reason to have kept my joes but i had to leave them.
Maybe someday you'll get them back. Thanks for watching!
Looks better than GI Joe bases I had when I was a kid. Had I seen this back then I would rather have had this. Please build a better terror drome than the crappy one sold in stores and now ungodly priced...
I wonder if the size might also be a good thing. This could be a smaller, lower cost toy that could act as a base. And I didn't show it but you can still unscrew the top and store your figures inside :) Thanks for watching!
It would be cool if you did a jungle and desert themed version as I plan to do a jungle display for my G.I. Joe predator crossover jungle assault display.
I did do a desert one. Here’s the link. ruclips.net/video/tCfwj6udiM4/видео.html
Dude I have been thanking of the same thing
Great and thanks for watching.
This might sound strange, but I’d love to learn how to make transport storage containers for joes and cobra weapons. Kinda like crates or metal looking stuff that holds weapons and explosives that cobra could “steal” and take to their base.
Not strange. That sounds like a great project. I'm working on a Gi Joe train right now. I plan to have Cobra do a train robbery style attack and was planning to make something similar that Cobra would be stealing, like a container with some secret device or chemical. Thanks for watching.
Your granddad was on Legend status.
Thanks. He'd have thought that was a cool comment :)
I made a serpentor sled from a joy stick controller.
Wow that’s a neat idea. Love repurposing things.
ARP? Look into the Cardboard cylinders that are use to make Concrete post.
Great idea. Thanks for watching.
add to the scene with a larger Cobra base made from a propane tank.
Cool idea. Keeping it modular would really allow for scaling the base up. Thanks.
Nice little fuel station
Thank you!
while this is a very simple build, it looks great and would have lots of play-ability.
Thanks for the kind words. It is fun to place in the snow with figs around it.
There is a cobra figure with a smart gun. Did you make that? Or did it come with the figure?
I think it's the 30th anniversary Iron Grenadier. It comes with that weapon. I did repaint his outfit though.
2:08 What an interesting technique. Would you mind if I use it on a future build and credit your channel for it?
Of course, use it, that’s why I put it in the video. It’s a real time saver. And it’ll impress your friends 😁
@@ActionRobotPunch Thank you. I truly appreciate your approval.
This might be a stupid idea but I want a tabletop JI Joe wargame. Like either at 28 ml scale with maybe 3D printed figures or even the normal Joe scale with the store bought action figures.
That’d be awesome. Thanks for watching 👍
I’m actually trying to build a 3.75 scale bunker kinda like the Dday ones but for joes and Star Wars figures
Sounds like a great project. I made a desert base that might give you some ideas for a bunker.
Makes me think of a conning tower from a giant under ice submarine
Yeah, like it just broke through the ice. That’d be a fun project.
That one joe appears to be armed with an m56 smart gun from the alien universe.
Yes, I think they were inspired by Aliens for sure.
Just a note. I see you cutting through the Styrene...just score and snap, much easier, less work.
Yeah I was having trouble with some of the 2 mil stuff. But I think my snapping technique is getting better. I started using pliers to help me get the leverage on the thicker stuff. Thanks for the tip!
@@ActionRobotPunch I collect Joe's too, but I'm 53, so it's the big Joe's from the 60's/70's!
What is the little mitre saw? Brand?
Here's a link to the exact one I have. amzn.to/3Nt5aCk
It’s clearly the entrance for an underground base with sub pens
Oooh, underground sub pens. I love that idea. Maybe some Cobra Buggs and Hammerheads?
@@ActionRobotPunch absolutely. Cobra will need them to highjack a Soviet sub to start a war. The base is a staging point. Sounds like Snow Job, Iceberg, Striker & Subzero will have to call in back up from Deep Six, Torpedo & Wetsuit.
I sincerely hope it's an entrance to a Cobra base cause 6 dudes and one chick and one porta-john makes people cranky. All jokes aside, nicely done.
This SO could have been an actual set Hasbro would have put out in the day
Thank you!
Onde vocë encontra essas peças plásticas?? 5:40
I show you in the video right afterwards :) They're from the different model kits. But if you can't find those exact kits almost any other kit will have little bits like the ones I use. Good luck.
Just looks like a outpost to me.
I.like Gorrillia hot Glue
Thanks for the tip
A Trash can would have worked for the size of terror dome.
Sure. You could use all sizes of things. Thanks for watching.
As we mature as a people, I enjoy the fact that machismo is dying year by year. In regards to GI Joe you'll understand what I mean momentarily. My Dad always wanted to make dioramas of his small Army models. He didn't because he was Mr. Macho, semi pro weight lifter. As a late Gen Xer, (born in 1980), I've noticed many late Xers (b.76-82) are more likely to collect, Play with, modify, enjoy attributes of their childhood. Ie; Gi Joe, Transformers, Old gaming systems. 30 yrs ago this was impossible as the pressure to be a manly man was on 24/7.
I collected Joes fall of 1985 till summer of 1991. I felt pressure than to become more involved in Sport and females. BUT deep down I would have kept playing with joes into 1992-93.
As I was beginning Jr high.
I started a new collection from scratch 4 weeks ago. I have 38 figures on hand and 16 in transit (get here soon!!! :) Lol )
and I ordered vehicles as well. Just like many many later Xers I also had children late. I'm 40, going on 41 in 2 days, and my oldest is 3 And youngest is 2.. I love playing action figures with my oldest. It's great!! Thanks for making this video
I'm glad you liked the video and are getting back into collecting. It's great that we have these online communities that can be specialized in the things that we're excited about, like our Gi Joe toys. I'm glad you found this video and good luck growing your collection.
Ssssuuuuubd
Thank you.
