FUN FACT: The original script had it written that the final fight was supposed to end with Arnold Schwarzenegger killing the Predator and winning the one-on-one hand-to-hand fight, but it was changed at the last minute because Arnold himself was adamant on it and he was realistic enough to know that in a real fight, the Predator not ONLY would've won, but he would've mopped the floor with him (and he's very right to think that as Arnold stands at 6'2 tall while the Predator stands at a gigantic 7'3!)
So the ending was instead changed to Arnold winning the final fight through his wits and traps instead of his brute strength alone.

Even more so, the original script was to have billy(just the character)have the final face off with the predator, but once Arnold signed on, everything changed.

@@jerbil9353 Depends if that 130lber 'skillful' fighter is an idiot and fights his opponent in the same manner, the 220lbs would definitely have an advantage, but only if he utilizes that advantage. Sports fights are completely different to street fights, sport fights or matches are designed to enhance the advantage of a weight class. Whereas in a real fight, anything goes to level the playing field. I don't pretend that size has no effect on fighting ability, but to think a 130lber would get ripped apart by a 220lbs in a street fight clearly shows you haven't seen many, because I've seen all sorts of sizes knock each other out (visit the UK on a weekend).

Amazingly, Kevin Peter Hall was the shortest of I think 5 brothers. Predator 2 was his final film appearance, he knew he was dying but he asked Stan Winston for one more chance to reprise the role of the Predator, and Winston bent over backwards to make it happen.
An interesting note of Billy's decision to face the Predator is, when he cuts his own chest, he's using an old warrior tradition of denying your enemy the honor of drawing first blood. He really did go out on his own terms in that regard, and that's why the Predator took his skull and spine. He was so impressed with Billy choosing to face him, knowing he couldn't win.
And you're 100% correct, the Predator wasn't imitating Dutch, he was asking Dutch what he was to have defeated him.

Not to dunk on your comment too much, because I agree with it to a point, but part of the reason they might talk so much, especially over what might seem like important parts of the movie, is because RUclips's filters will blank out the audio if they leave too much of the original movie, or just take it down altogether if it's not changed enough. So it sucks because we'd definitely get better reactions if that wasn't the case.

I liked how Hawkins kept telling Billy those crude p*ssy jokes, but when he caught Anna as she tried to escape, he literally pleaded with her to stop because he didn't want to use force on her. Bill Duke doesn't get enough credit for his acting making Mac so scary and intimidatinging with Dillon yet so heartfelt and touchingly sad over Blaine's death. I also liked the nods to Billy's Native American heritage and its implied historical connection to the Predators (though the novel actually comes right out and says that when Billy decided to make his last stand, he was thinking of his ancestors who had been killed by Predators). I thought those touches gave the characters more depth and compexity than you'd expect in the average action movie.

Without knowing any connection or lore, and him being a native American, I saw a simplified explanation. He felt hunted and knew the predator was close. He just didn't want to die running like a preyed upon animal would. Meet and clash as warriors to avoid bringing shame or a lower position in the afterlife, whatever. I'm not a fan of the lore using him like a token native and having paranormal superpowers. We get enough typical portrayals like that.

'Old Painless' was an actual, real working Minigun. What's funny about it is that before its first Test Firing they were worried that it would break its dolly & starting rotating (and FIring!) wildly in all directions. So there was a great deal of initial trepidation.
However, what they found is that the rotation of the barrels actually set up a rock-like centripetal force that made the gun extremely stable & the problem was MOVING it. ^_^

Arnold said to the director, "This doesn't make any sense. He's an alien monster, I'm just a man." Any other action star at that time would have been happy to be overpowered, but Arnold knew the right way to sell both of these characters.

The language the Predator learns is his interpretation of what the sentences mean in the context that they're used.
"Anytime" is associated with the dying scorpion.
"Over here" and "turn around" is calling someone over.
"What the hell are you" is what his opponent says as he stands over his dying body. Which could be interpreted as "I win", "You lose", or "Die", which he throws right back in Dutch's face as he arms the self destruct.
And the laugh is Billy's laugh.
This script is way more intelligent than most people realize. The Predator's character development may not be obvious, but it's there.

My favorite movie growing up, I used to watch it over and over at night, couldn't fall asleep unless it was playing. It has a unique way of drawing you in slowly one way, then BAM, totally setting off in a whole new direction, from war movie to sci-fi just like that. You first see an invisible/hazy apparition, thinking it's some dumb, primitive animal. Then he appears with a first aid kit repairing himself, giving rise to a whole new sentient, intelligent hunter, a spine-tingling introduction to one of Sci-Fi's greatest characters, making a game and mincemeat out of 6 of the finest special forces soldiers on Earth. Soldiers that decimated an entire village of guerilla mercenaries easily and without injury and he could have easily killed Arnold as well but wanted to slowly play and destroy him hand to hand, under estimating man's ability to think, plan, and survive by any means necessary. Your reaction was terrific, you are truly 1 of a kind, smart and beautiful, with a great personality, you carry yourself and express yourself so well, find a career in presentations, you do it so well. I hope you never lose that sweetness, perkiness, and freshness you have, it's so endearing and refreshing to see in today's world. On a side note, a lot of actors go into politics cuz it's all about acting, pretending to be someone you're not, someone for the people, an all-around good person striving for the betterment of others. When in reality their the crookedest, lying, manipulative, and most corrupt people on the planet, obsessed with wealth, power, and controlling others.

I love Predator. The the use of the musical score by the director is top notch. Predator as a film is part slasher and part psychological horror. There is so much gore and physical mutilation with intense battle scenes mixed - with themes such a fear of the unknown, the unseen, and the uncertainty.
Dillon’s death scene is a personal favorite. The director’s delivers the audience into a nightmare scenario.
Die Hard retains the title of greatest action flick of all time but it should be no surprise that after all… they share the same director and composer.

The costume Van Damme wore was actually very different and very goofy looking. Thankfully the filming took a break and they got Stan Winston who did the effects for Terminator and Aliens before this gave the suit a complete redesign into the one we see and of course they hired Kevin Peter Hall to wear it when they began to shoot the movie again. There is footage you can find on here of what the original suit looked like, or at least the all red version they used to be able to put the invisible effect over in post-production. Apparently Van Damme didn't understand the all red was for that reason and thought that it was going to be bright red in the actual movie.

It started as a comic that saw minor success, but then a VERY popular arcade game came out 'Alien vs. Predator'. The hype reached the point it could justify a movie. If you thought this movie is full of testosterone, the set was even more so. All the muscle guys were super competitive (friendly). So, it repeating what Arnold said, "what the hell are you?" expressed its disbelief that Arnold could defeat it when so many others could not (as opposed to Arnold's intent of, "what species are you?". The predator's laugh was actually mimicking Billy's laugh which it recorded earlier.
