This might just be me but I always wished ghazan was bolin’s lava Bending teacher I mean he seems like an actually nice guy it’s just his goals that make him who he is I bet he probably would have been the cool uncle to bolin
It’s quite self explanatory tho, like he said he spent 13 years in prison but it felt like 30 to him. So this means that he really doesn’t like prison and as he knew he would loose he would rather die and help his comrades then be captured and spend a eternity in prison

Yes for 13 years that is scary and sad but you have to remember he tried to kidnap Korra with the other Red Lotus members. But over all he had it pretty good he probably got some books ones in a while cause he seemed like he be on his best behavior half the time most likely had one of his guards as a friend

I have a theory that him and Ming Hua are brother and sister. He literally opens the door to that he canonly has an older sister. He and Ming Hua are always paired up together and they look very similar. Not only that but it makes sense for why he killed himself after Ming Hua was killed. He was raised by his older sister and if Ming Hua is his sister, he most likely wanted to avenge her even if it meant taking himself out too. Even if Ming Hua wasn’t his sibling it opens the possibility that he could be romantically interested in Ming Hua. He would have killed himself to join her in death and he would still want to avenge her, but it’s for a different reason.

I actually liked ghazan he was super badass, he seemed how should i put it, less threatening and he was doing what he seemed was right, other villains like noatak knew what he was doing and intended to do bad but ghazan, minghua genually thought they were doing good
what would have happened if ghazan had learned to master all the rare masteries of earthbending and also learn to master all earth control techniques and also learn to block chi and also learn to master all fighting techniques and also learn to master all styles of fighting and also learn to master all martial arts and also learn to master all weapons
If anyone else should have survived that, it should have been Ghazan, he would have been an absolute asset against Kuvira… He indirectly taught Bolin Lavabending…. Earthbenders are the most diverse benders also, I believe they have the most subset skills.
I think that ghazans older sister that's why they looked at each other weirdly when Bolin thought they were dating and ming hau introduced him to the red lotus since she was insane and didn't care if her little brother was caught in that mess and in the last episode of book 3 zaheer said something I forget then he said brothers and sisters and he was looking at ghazan and ming hau
I have a theory what if ghazan didnt killed himself in the cave and just made it look like he did and then he ran away i think he just knew that they are going to lose and that if mako and bolin will think he is dead he will be free and then he just bend the cave colapce and ran away
I do think he killed himself and part of it could have been that he saw Mako arrive..and knew Ming Hua was likely dead or completely out of the fight(that would have an impact bc it was likely true he had feelings for Ming Hua and also the whole bunch of them did seem close in general)..and that would have likely impacted his mental state in that moment combined with the fear of going back to prison to a point where he'd kill himself rather than try to escape or fight
It is still not fair. A young/medium aged lava bender fights an old firebender, at the northpole and it seems also at night. You can’t get a fire bender weaker
Every avatar that mastered the avatar state should be able to fly because they knows airbending should be able to fly because in order to unlock the last chakra They need to get rid of their earthly tethere
