- Here’s a video of the origin of the Red lotus and why we think this is the most dominate villain group in the avatarverse. We can all relate that when harmonic convergence hit in book 3 of TLOK, nobody anticipated that we would get an entirely new villain group and also new Airbenders! Tell us your opinion on the Red Lotus in the comments below. Also don’t forget to share our video it helps the channel grow :)

Zaheer was my favorite character because although a villain he made great points, he was skilled, achieved what no one else did since Lahima (to fly would be a dream come true for me btw) and then he even helped Korra not only enter the Spirit World but also get over of what he himself did to her and he doesn't even hold a grudge over losing.
PS: Ghazan was also pretty cool
Same!
Not to mention he dated a hot girl, that was taller than him.
@@Blejzak Speaking of which, both Combusion Benders we've seen so far are pretty tall
did you not see how much suffering his childish anarchistic ideals caused
@@bigpapagorge9667 Oh I'm sorry did the VILLAIN do something bad? I didn't think he would...
Something that strikes me about the "villains" in LoK is that with the exception of Unalaq her villains have more and more of a valid point over the supposed "good guys". Amon while wildly misguided in his approach did have a fair point about the imbalance between benders and non-benders, Zaheer while an anarchist had even more of a fair argument that the Earth Kingdom queen was corrupt and needed to be taken out, and finally, Kuvira had so much of a point in what she was doing that the writers had to MAKE her go full Hitler in order justify her being the villain at all...despite her actions being in response to the world government brazenly trying to install a puppet monarch over the nation she had spent years fighting to pull back from the brink, only to see them try to take it BACK into a monarchy which got them into the mess in the first place...and lets not even get started on her mentor abdicating responsibility in helping rebuild the nation, putting Kuvira in a moral position in which she felt she had to do SOMETHING
Unalaq too had some good points regarding imbalance between spirits and humans and regarding all mistakes of Wan, including closing the spirit portals, though he didn't necessarily need to team up with Vaatu to become Dark Avatar and throw world into 10k years of hell. He prove to be a good teacher to Korra by teaching her a technique of making evil spirit go away in peace, which she as an Avatar definitely had to know. I don't really know why is the 2nd season of LoK so much spat on, it kind of felt to me as more continuation than unexplained increase in numbers of airbenders that was used as establishing point for season 3 + 4 (like, Korra had to learn at some point to do stuff with spirits, as Aang was in contrast to her one of the more spiritual Avatars). Even though I agree that Zaheer and Kuvira kind of had some points as well (not speaking of Amon, because I think we can agree on S1 being good way to immediately continue the story with new Avatar that has to learn airbending)
Agreed. Korra’s villains are easily one the show’s strongpoints; they’re extremists and need to be stopped, but still force the heroes to stop and reevaluate their own world views.
@@GoldLight73 It really makes me wish the writing team didn't end up getting jerked around by the studio, it was clear they had solid ideas and stories, that ended up getting blunted by the studio constantly changing how many seasons they had...first, it was short, then they wanted more, then they wanted less back and forth which jacked up the stories all to hell cause it wasn't even a case of knowing if they would get renewed or not and more they didn't know if the rug would be pulled out from under them again with the studio moving the goal post.
@@benjaminbierley2074 for me the real reason Lok floped was cause Arron ehasz did not return to the Lok to write it
@@ironcz6679 Wan sealed beacause an opening portal could mean another battle against Vaatu. It was not a mistake from this point of view, especially beacuse spirits are not native of the human world
Zaheer's attachment to P'Li Was his last earthly tether.
Wait whaaaaaattt??? No waaayyyy???
yep
The Red Lotus are my favorite Villains! I could watch or read a whole series about them! Ghazan is my second favorite Avatar character! Ming Hua was my second favorite of the group. Ghazan, Ming Hua, Zaheer and P'li were all so unique! I'd love to know WAY more about their lives before capture! The bits of info we got fascinated me and left me begging for more! I liked the hints of romance between Ghazan and Ming Hua. The love P'li and Zaheer shared was very interesting too!
I love how all the red lotus members were different benders. zaheer is an airbender, ghazan is an earthbender, ming-hua is a waterbender, and p’li is a firebender.
Why did they look so cute when they were children ;-;
it's like looking at young german generations just before ww2 , they became nazi and killed a lot of people but where such cute children back in time, just too bad they had to grow with such influences...
Fr, ming hua is the cutest
@@ixya.3724 LOL
Alot of different species will look "So Cute" when they're kids.
Heck, even a Baby Crocodile will look "So Cute".
Still Doesn't mean it won't Kill & Eat You. Same Goes for Alot of Humans.
Some of the Worst People in History were probably "So Cute" as kids.
I would have loved to see a what if of if the red lotus was successful in the kidnapping of little Korra. Just think of how different the world we know would be
Peaceful
Would actually love to see the fight with Zuko, Sokka, Tonraq, and Tenzin vs the Red Lotus gang!
Sokka died in that fight
@@Hash_kw No he didnt
Ok but if zaheer could enter the spirit world why didn’t he consult iroh? I mean iroh was just as much a diplomat between spirits and humans as the avatar if not more.
What good would seeing iroh someone he's against do though
Because Iroh was a white lotus and the whole point of the red lotus is that they were disgusted that the WL came out of hiding and became the Avatar's bodyguard. Consulting Iroh, although a good idea, would go against what the RL stood for.
Damn son , you really are an idiot 😂
diplomat more than the avatar? where yall get this head canon from. He's not even above the most average air nomad in the spirits
@kittycatkyla2344 the red lotus has nothing in common with the white lotus and doesn't like the white lotus
Korra series has many flaws. But the villains specially Amon and Red Lotus were awesome.
Amon and Red lotus have flaws too.
@@Sunznt-fp5ubYup
Honestly, I think the Red Lotus were the best LoK villains because they were enjoyable in the same way Ozai's Angels were in the original series: they felt human at some points.
I love heart this entire video is just information we already know from the show and that he didn’t add any new information from comics and stuff
I’ll make a part 2. It’s still informational for people who haven’t watched the show or didn’t fully understand it after watching
@@AvatarDiscussions hey no I didn’t say that I’m just saying for people who did watch it it’s not very useful might be useful if you didn’t understand it but if you didn’t watch it why would you watch this video and get spoilers
The Red Lotus I think are the most intriguing opponents the Avatar ever faced. But not quite my favorite. No. That honor belongs to Fire Lord Ozai. Mark Hamill voiced him to perfection.
Best season of the show.😍 those characters were so cool. 🤩Funny thing is the combustion bending which is at the same time so powerful and so weak😅
If it wasn't for the conflict, Ghazan and Bolin would be absolute besties! They are an underrated duo and I'd love to see more of their interactions.
The pan away during Tenzin’s beat down conveyed more brutality than any actual animation could have ever done. So well done by the story board
Good video, lots of info, but I was hoping for more than a recap of korra season 3
Yes... never been a fan of the convenient plot where someone who spent 13 years in a small cage, randomly wins the _Airbending Lottery_ and instantly become so skilled to outmatch people who trained their Bending for years.
Kai got Airbending and was very skilled at it, Bumi got Airbending and had an airbender father, who gets Airbending isn’t random. Zaheer is the closest you can get to an airbender without being one
Honestly the only Red Lotus Member that was actually a threat was Gazan.Tenzin Knew how to suffocate the others cos his dad knew the abilities to suffocation. And if Toph were there Ming Hua would stand no chance. The beifong sisters could have used their metal bending to kill Gazan by tying his hands and Kya most probably doesnt know advanced bloodbending but must atleast know a little. Her mom was a bloodbending master.
These guys where the anti team avatar, and did the job better than the actual anti avatar.
"After failing to capture 5 year old Korra."
Sounds like such a powerful team.
well 4 very powerful warriors had to come to stop them so it's not like Korra defeated them when she was 5
Btw brother zahir without air bending yet
"Everyone thinks they're the Hero of their own story."
- Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2.
The Red Lotus are like the Akatsuki in Naruto, they’re both terrorist group that hunt for the Avatar (for the Akatsuki it’s Jinchuriki or tailed beast), they both believe in peace in a different way, and they both have terrifying powers (though I think the Red Lotus are less terrifying then let’s say Hidan and Kakuzu who are part of the Akatsuki)
And another underrated channel
I liked the red lotus and would love to see them come back. I also really liked the Dai Li.
I loved Su this season because up to this point the good guys never really fought to kill. But then we met Su and literally fought to kill in every battle she was in, she killed like 5 people that season.
I’d love to see some sort of spin off comic or something about the Red Lotus main villain’s adventures and backstories when they were younger!!
Imagine if red lotus trianed korra... imagine a combustion bending avatar...imagine combustion bending while in avatar state
If kora opened the bridge for spirits to come back to the world so what else does the red lotus want to happen?
It's been interesting to read the commentaries about how the "villains" have a valid point in their worldview in Avatar lore over the "good guys" who supported the worldview of the Avatar existing to keep balance in their world.
It's just arrogance and hypocrisy to side with anarchy and cruelty that the Red Lotus believes the world would be better off destroying the Avatar legacy.
Balance of the world is the mission of the Avatar after Wan's mistake in freeing Vaatu from battling Raava causing this nearly eternal battle of Light versus Dark.
Wan felt guilty that he "failed" during his lifetime as the Avatar to bring balance but Raava reminded him they would be together through all the future AVatars as there will always be hope for peace.
Each Avatar will have their lifetimes and different challenges to encounter as the Red Lotus is Korra's challenge.
Kenji will have his own challenges as well.
“Tonrack” 💀
I would love to see a spinoff series with the red lotus as the protagonists.
I agree with Wan decision to close the spirit portals
Pretty impressive that Ming Hua can drive
4:52 did I just see ph,li fire bend? She redirected the fire mako shot
She’s a firebender
i think if every character of LOK were in the same room, good and villains alike, Amon would make them all kneel and yield without a sweat and all these other bending would be nil since Amon would have been untouchable.
is that thumbnail artwork official? its pretty great.
ghazan: ''guess he doesnt need a ride"
It’s how unluaq , zaheer and kuvira are connected in a way because of harmonic convergence zaheer got his airbending powers going on to kill the queen causing kuvira to become a dictator in the earth kingdom
Thanks for explaining basically the last season...
I expected way more...
Zaheer and the others where undoubtedly the toughest and trickiest opponents to defeat. It required many capable individuals to defeat them.
Zaheer was my favourite villain, and the Red Lotus was great! Who wants a comic, where Sokka beats the Red Lotus with his boomerang!
ATLA: "Villain requires a huge drill to destroy the wall of Ba Sing Se"
LOK: "Only need Ghazan" 🤦
Can we please get a prequel comic with the Red Lotus as the main characters? I’d really like to learn more about them like each of their personal pasts, what led them to join the Red Lotus, and maybe close they all were. Like wouldn’t it be interesting to see the blooming of Zaheer and P’Li’s romance? Was Ming Hua born without arms or did she lose them in a battle? (Edit: okay I just learned that she was apparently born without arms. I still think her journey to overcoming that handicap could be interesting to witness) And what about Ghazan? Ghazan is the one I’m most interested in. I don’t know why, he was just someone who’s lore I wanted to be dumped.
I wish to see the red lotus in the next series
Ive always wondered how the metal benders can bend mercury but can't bend platinum
platinum is a pure metal, metal benders only control metals from their impurities
After Amon, zaheer is the scariest
I might be wrong, but I think Zahir's main goal of being on Air Temple Island was actually to assassinate president Raiko. At least Ming Hua brought that up when they were about to leave to go after Korra.
The only things I didn't like about Zaheer:
1. Man's talking about chaos and "natural order" all the time, it gets kinda weird, it's also a miss in an otherwise mostly solid representation of anarchism
2. It was just weird how he did a fake out on the airbender hostages. It worked out for him, but it just seems like a cheap way to make him worse than the story necessitates.
I really wanna see an AU where the red lotus was successful in kidnapping Korra😭😭😭😭
Zahir was actually struggling with his fight against Tenzin. If it was a 1 to 1 battle Zahir would not win against Tenzin.
Where's ming hua's arms why she doesn't have arms
Young Zaheer looks like Bolin
Let's face it: Zaheer did the Earth people a favor in killing the earth queen
This video has information about the red lotus that you'd know from watching the series.
Their original plan was not to release Vaatu btw- while the elite 4 red lotus were in jail Unalaq did his selfish version of the red lotus plan
I wanna see the fight between the red lotus and Sokka, Zuko, Tenzin and Tonraq
Exactly 💯 not only u bro
Zaheer is the reason I watched Korra in the first place 😂😂😂
Best antogonist was the smart owl
They are smart for using Mercury to trigger the avatar state
the equalizers are scarier to me
The young ver of that armless water lady are mad cute ngl
You just summarized the tv series
How Azula wasnt part of this group of terrorists is crazy 😅
LoK would’ve been so good if they had actually succeeded
Wait, to think that the poison was a mercury, and korra still carrying the little part of the poison for 3 years, doesn't it may develop a cancer to her body?
The Amagi rip off, this is literally what he said word for word
Henry Rollins was born to play Zaheer.
Yes, yes they are my favorite.
Coolest part of Korra
In my opinion i really like amon
I wonder how they thought they were the good guys
Мой любимые персонажи из красного лотоса это Минг Хуа и Захир у кого также ставьте лайк
Amon still is the best villain in my opinion
they just does not distroy the world policy and made o a lots of demage
they also distroyed their own whole life. they could life a food life together
but any one choose his own path
Nice intro
Thank you kind sir
Why didn’t unalaquk free Zaheer and the others?
Imagine amon in red lotus group
still dont understand how they can bend mercury but not platinum

creator B : What about the end of the Avatar cycle?

Red lotus are so scary
I like them they should succeed their plans
I was actually rooting for red lotus
Anyone else here want to see a mini series about the Red Lotus Gang? It would be a good way to flesh them out more and would be cool to see more of them in general.
Was thinking the same thing. The thumbnail made me think of the idea. The four should get each get an episode of their own.
No really. I really want to see what would happen if kora was raised by the red lotus but then joins the white lotus
Yes, yes, and more importantly, yes
no
Have you ever seen a spin off of spin off be good? Neither have I.
This isn’t like history more like a recap of what happened
I was hoping to like get actual history on the red lotus history such as their past how they came to be how they met how they how they discovered their unique bending how the girl lost her arms y’know lore
same for me
Well the thumbnail was super misleading
Ya same the photo in the videos thumbnail made me think that.
Idk if the title was changed, but currently it's "history of the red lotus" and I can't really understand how you inferred from this the contents will include the life stories of 4 specific members of the order and not, as literally described in the title, the origin and purpose of the order itself.
Also, there's no detailed information of their private lives, especially not to such detail such as how ming hua lost her arms. They probably met through the organization and were among the high-raking members. (similarly to the white lotus).
The creators actually revealed that Ming-Hua was born without arms which is why she’s so good at using water as arms. Ming-Hua using waterbending as arms is like us picking up a pencil and writing.
That fight between Tenzin and The Red Lotus will always be always one of the best fights in the Avatar universe
tenzin rly is a strong airbender
I want a battle between Toph and Red Lotus. Toph is one of the most broken and op characters.

Amon was the best villain in LoK. He introduced a different kind of fear in the series and was the perfect boogeyman for Korra since she values her bending ability a lot. Only reason Zahir was the one that gave her PTSD is that he was the closest to killing her.
Also the whole "i dominate you" vader style.
Boogey man zombie Amon
Lol no. Amon had no personality and is barely memorable.
The mystery aspect gave it its power not the character itself.
Zaheer is literally one of the best written characters in all of Avatar
I was also afraid of Amon
I think amon would win against zaheer. But zaheer was pretty cool too
If LOK had more time to write, the Red Lotus secret organization would have been an awesome overarching plot of the seasons. Would have been awesome seeing all the connections and foreshadows, each villain being a member of the red lotus until it came down to the final four who had only survived because they were imprisoned the entire time.
Zaheer is the greatest villain in the entire franchise, and one of the best villains in science fiction/fantasy. His ideology was wrong, but he really believed in it, and did not violate his own code just for plot convenience.
Agreed! 😎
Ozai
He killed sokka
Nahh zaheer sucks ass,he was an idiot and will always be
How was his idealogy wrong ? All ideologies are subjective
If they didn't have different beliefs, the Red Lotus would have been great friends and teachers for Korra. I think if they did manage to kidnap and raise her, they'd genuinely care for her like a daughter or little sister instead of just using her.
I like how all of the villains are more interesting than the main character
In TLOK definitely!
Avatar The last Airbender main characters peak. Avatar legend of Korra villains peak
Nah Korra was great too. The new "team avatar" however...
@@shumanbeansngl those 3 felt like they were only in the show because the creators thought they needed side protaganists

Man I thought we were gonna get new information about the Red Lotus, not a recap of Season 3.
The idea of an evil airbender is already pretty cool and then it's made even cooler that he's still reverent enough to learn sacred rites
Amon and Zaheer were both right when you think about it. In a world with benders and non-benders there will always be a class difference. The Avatar knows how to bend energy to grant or remove bending from people but won't share the knowledge in the modern age leading to people either being born in the cool benders club or no and being stuck that way for life. Then you find out the spirit world being split from the material world and people(aside from the Avatar) losing the power to bend energy and having to be born benders was the choice of the first Avatar. Ending the cycle is the only course that allows the rest of humanity to move forward
To be fair, there were rich non-benders and poor benders. Seems most kings/rulers in the earth kingdom were non benders. Not so much in the fire nation lol 😂
@@TheCreoleSon89 add on that non benders did have ways of dealing with benders like chi blocking and being alot more into training their bodies and being specialists like mai and tia lee
The order of the red lotus could actually be a way of introducing a subplot into Both ATLA and LOK that would be in my opinion immensely intriguing. I however heavily dislike the origins of the group simply bc it lacks depth, and it starts with Xia Bau. Ok so he’s a defect from the OWL but that’s it? Yet Zaheer had an obsession with Guru Lahima…but Xia Bau has a grove dedicated to him in the spirit world…hmmm here’s my theory and while it may be a little far fetched hear me out: Xia Bau isnt the true originator of the red lotus. Guru Lahima is. When wan visited the air nomads on the back of their flying turtle, they asked rava why she was without vatuu, something the air benders knew as they are in contact with the spirits more than any other nation. It could very well be possible that the air nomads didn’t totally agree with wan becoming the avatar and what’s more closing the spirit portals. This could have caused a splintering in the teachings of the air nation over time, while you have the air nation that established their loyalty to the avatar you can also have those in the air nation that would have seen it as hypocritical to their teaching to attach their loyalty, and it could have been that loyalty that caused them to FORGET how to fly…until LAHIMA, whose views and teachings weren’t widely accepted by the air nation bc of the anarchy it would intimately cause…in the air nation FIRST. Too many avatars and too many invents proceeding the 100 year war that give the Red lotus to form right under the nose of the white lotus. It’s just my honest opinion that the red lotus forming AFTER gives it little to feed off and completely contradicts itself when the leader of the group is the student of an airbending anarchist who existed AGES before this group was even formed. I truly hope that Guru Lahima gets his own story…but what would be crazy is if he somehow gets mention in the new Yang Chen novel.
I love the lok villians, but my favourite has gotta be ming hua mainly based on her design, the idea of her being a very powerful waterbender despite not having arms is very badass, its one of the reasons toph was my favourite in the last airbender, she was super powerful despite being blind and she turned what most would consider a weakness into an advantage, cool as fuck
Pov: you thought he was gonna tell us the past of Zaheer, P'li, Ghazan and Ming-yua.
The air bending zaheer used on the earth queen should be called breathbending
i dont think so because its just one specific move not even a style, eg. Under water we have ice bending which can be used in different ways to make ice spears, ice shields, ice typhoons, blizzards, etc. Ice bending is a sub style under water bending, whereas in this situation all you can do is asphyxiate a person. There is an imbalance with air as it is potrayed as the weakest of the 4 without any real offensive abilities or even sub bending. Air has only flying and astral projection which is flying as a ghost. and fartbending, which is kind of a joke. I hope air in the future is shown with a little more power as so far its shown that air ios only used in defensive or evasive maneuvers aka to run away, which is kinda pathetic.
I mean, that was more air bending than anything else. All the other air benders just bend wind.
@@kkdias9924 It sort of speaks to how the air nomads developed, due to their lack of easily lethal moves by single people.
while yes, air can be an incredibly devastating element, as is shown with literally any form of storm, the power needed to create such devastation is usually too much for a single person to be reasonably expected to do, bar the avatar.
So it is either adopt a more pacifistic society to evade rather than attack, or really double down on group tactics to work together in creating massive storms.
there is a reason they chose air for the pacifistic monk civilization.
@@tylermech66 I agree that kinda sucks, even as you mention a storm of wind would still not be as lethal as say a storm of fire, sharp ice crystals, water typhoon, lightning storms, or sand storms, would be nice if they air had some other type of bending added to it like light/shadow bending, or kinetic bending- kinda like telekinesis to control all objects themselves rather than controlling an element eg.air, earth to move an object from one point in space to another, or Dimension bending, creating portals by sending part or your whole body to other dimension which can be used to defend yourself against any attack essentially kinda like obito from naruto, etc. would be kinda cool.
That’s lame asl bruh
