Hi Leonid, Love, Love, Love your music! Here is a song that I would like to see covered by your band! Chase - Get It on (1971) ruclips.net/video/ERZZr5ckOeg/видео.html (Bill Chase is deceased)
Leonid, When you guys start another USA tour contact someone at the Sturgis, South Dakota motorcycle rally in August. They would love you guys and you guys would have a ball!
@@larrypelotte6311 Hi Larry! I realize it's been a year but I still wanted to reply... I think they'd like to see SD!! Planning, however, entails you researching the info to present to Gil Jacobs, the man managing their American tours. I just heard what is probably the best cover of our chestnut "Vehicle" that I've ever heard in my life! In fact, when I first heard this, I thought it was us! And then I looked at it and saw it was all these other people... It's a real homage to the Ides of March and the sound we created with "Vehicle." We couldn't be prouder that you chose this song. I have to tell you, the guitar solo (Sergey? Serge?) -- he's the only guitar player that's ever copped my lead note-for-note-perfect. The horn section is tight, Vasily is great (strange to hear a little of that accent, but that's just fine!) Anyway, congratulations, Leonid and Friends and Great God in Heaven, we love you! Jim Peterik and The Ides of March
It's great to see a comment from the original group! Always loved this song waaayyy back in college, but it doesn't seem that long ago. I was loving all the groups with horn ensembles and this song was/is one of my favorites. By the way, great, rousing performance of the song on your website from 2015!
Great to see you happened onto the new video. You are going to love this, lol. I know these folks pretty well and when I was at their show here in Connecticut I pestered them a “little” that this song would be absolutely right in Vasily’s wheelhouse vocally. The guy has terrific power and vocal presence and sounds a HELL of a lot like you. I took my case to the horns and my sax buddy Oleg and we crowded around my phone and listened. They had never heard it over there and fell in love right away. So I shared the link with them all and sent a very supportive message to Vasily which he thanked me graciously and said he would give it a listen. Here’s the good part, I told Sergey that if they do a remake on this song, the folks from Ides will absolutely LOVE it the same way Chicago loved the tributes to them. Well look, lol...here you are!! Along with being fantastic musicians, these are without question some of the most wonderful people you will meet. I am ecstatic that you have given such high praise. Absolutely love it. And selfishly while I am here, Vehicle is one of my favorite tunes of all time and I thank you for all the pure listening pleasure every single time I hear it. I am proud to call them friends and even more proud to see your stamp of approval for them. Great stuff!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Jim, I remember you guys doing this song live when we were all young. I couldn't agree more with your comment. This is a fitting tribute to the Ides of March and one of the all time classic "horn band" songs.
Vasily Akimov simply has an AMAZING gravely Rock-Star voice that is perfect for "Vehicle". He is also the modern day reincarnation of David Clayton Thomas of Blood Sweat and Tears. Thank you Vasily for sharing your incredible talent with us.
I had the opportunity to see Leonid and Friends in Shippsawana Indiana a couple of days ago. The concert was absolutely fantastic. Also got to meet the band afterword. Vasily is the nicest most humble person I have ever meet. ALL the band members where so kind. One of the best concerts I have been to in my 60 years on the earth. If you have a chance to see them, you wouldn't be disappointed.
Vehicle, originally done by the Ides of March, is a significant song that has been never been covered by anyone with this accuracy and attention to detail, UNTIL NOW! All I can say is Leonid and Friends absolutely NAILED IT! Oh my gosh, What a great cover! A fantastic combination of high energy vocals and instrumental perfect performance! A great selection of a song. This song was used in American Idol a few years ago and regained the consciousness of the American people! Leonid Vorobyev has done it again! Okay, I am convinced….Leonid, you are a fantastic GENIUS!
What makes this great is the people behind the scenes. Nowhere on the internet is there a better balance of recording, mixing and mastering. Just perfect
This is THE BEST performance out there after The Ides of March ! I am 67, and I've heard lots. This one takes the cake ! Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.

How I have come upon Leonid and Friends I have no idea, but when I listened to their amazing Chicago covers 25 or 6 to 4 and I'm a Man, I thought "these guys would do a great version of 'Vehicle". Turns out that they have done - this is absolutely brilliant!!!
I remember when this song came out we thought it was Blood, Sweat and Tears. How can this sound exactly like the original but somehow better? Great God in Heaven!
Oh my gosh Vasily is fantastic in this song love it. Well as always the whole band is fantastic. Love you guys I listen to your songs everyday. Your brilliant renditions of the music of my youth is beyond outstanding. Your musical talent is equal to or even superior to the originals. Can't wait to see you in Fort Wayne IN.
As a sax player, I've covered Vehicle many, many times. This cover is perfection. Saw them live in NYC and the horn section is absolutely spot on the whole energy of Leonid and Friends is a must see live!
Leonid and his Friends have saved me! I was watching way too much news and feeling very down. This music gave me a much needed attitude adjustment and a respite from the news of the day. That is the true power of music. Thanks to all of you.
I can’t believe you’re doing all these songs. I’m speechless. I just keep watching one song to the next and I’m in heaven. You guys are so so good and this dude Voice is right on the money. You don’t get that much these days you don’t hear familiar voices in the old music, but this guy makes it come alive like it never was, you guys are extremely talented. My wife and I saw this great band here in Corpus Christi, TX last year. They were really something. They are spot on with Chicago and better than what is left of the Chicago Band. This may seem odd but how we felt.
Hard to believe this song is over 50 years old. You guys (and girl!) absolutely rock this song, as always! I love how you always look like you're all having so much fun playing this hit. And you're very, very tight! You are all tremendous musicians! Keep rocking!
I always thought they would cover this song at some point. It's a great song and a perfect fit for these outstanding musicians. Wonderful version - thanks for doing it!
I'm 64, this great song brings so many incredible memories and L&F's does such an amazing job...Wow!! Can't wait till this nonsense is over and they can be back on tour in the states, a MUST see experience! Kudos to the Ides of March for writing this true classic hit!
Seriously?!?! All this group does is get better every time I watch them. I feel like I can just take all of their uploads, and make that my favorite playlist! Bravo, Leonid and Friends, well done!
Vasily might seem like a bad-ass when he sings, but he is extremely friendly and down to earth. When I met the band last summer, Vasily spent more time chatting with me than any of the other band members. He graciously accepted the Canadian flag pin that I gave him and immediately put it on his t-shirt.
She looks feminine & no tattoos everywhere, purple or green hair chopped off, no body pierceings, no weird clothing or weird jewelry & she looks like the type that would marry & have kids too!!!!! Now tell me that is a 'rare jewel of a young woman' these days?????
This song by the Ides of March is the bomb - simply electric. The Ides of March is spectacular live. And, all of you are sublime. The singer is so spot on - wow is he awesome. Great choice with this timeless song.
Fantastic job as always, ... and Vasily does a great job bringing out the spirit of the song. And of course, for Leonid, picking apart the song again (I assume), and writing up all different instrumental pieces. You guys continue to amaze, ... just incredible how Leonid has brought this group together, and created this kind of "magic". Hope you never stop, ... and my guess is, you won't!
YES! We have been waiting on this one! And every bit as tasty as I would have imagined. Outstanding performances by all. Great vocals by Vasily and that was some seriously intricate guitar work Sergey laid down, starting around 1:30. Leonid has cut his hair and there are new studio surroundings! And how is it possible that Ksenia appears even more beautiful than before? One of my favorite bands in the world.
Ides of March was my very first concert ever @ the Cumberland college probably 1970 and it's been Rock and Roll ever since ....what a great so g this is ...
It looks like Vlad on the keyboard is having a rough day because he's not using his left arm, and the lead singer reminds me of a young Willie Nelson, all in all a fantastic group and a great song!
It's wonderful to see such amazingly talented performers not only give a stunning rendition of this song, but having so much fun while doing so. Fantastic!
I CANNOT stop watching & listening to this group! Since I ‘discovered’ them, here on RUclips, 2 weeks ago I’ve played their entire catalog over & over (& over ...). As both a vocalist & horn player growing up in the ‘60s & ‘70’s in America I was obsessed with the great horn bands like Chicago; Blood Sweat & Tears; Earth, Wind & Fire, et. al.. I marvel at the exquisite musicianship displayed by all of these immensely talented people and only wish I could ‘sit in’ with them! Leonid’s ability to cipher these tracks - BY EAR - is reminiscent of the scene in ‘Amadeus’ (movie about Mozart) where Mozart hears Salieri’s march played once by the Emperor Joseph II ... which leads to Mozart sitting down and playing it and then running many variations off with ease. Okay, back to the present from my obscure movie reference ... Leonid & Friends musicianship, obvious passion and enjoyment of playing keystone music from my youth has brought tremendous joy to me in what has been (like so many I suspect) one of the most difficult years of my 60 year-old life! (2020) I am a disabled Veteran living in chronic pain and fatigue from Parkinson’s disease. My medical providers encouraged me to return to my musical & artistic youthful endeavors for ‘Neuroplasticity’ ... and it’s been one of the most effective means of pushing back on chronic pain and keeps me from falling into the twin abyss of dopamine deficiency induced Anxiety & Depression. I, however, hit a very rough spot, 3 months ago and stopped painting and playing my music. That is ... UNTIL I heard Leonid & Friend’s opening riffs of Chicago’s “Make Me Smile”. ... which, in a profound way they did! Thank you so very much to all of you in Leonid & Friends for returning music, joy and hope back into my life!
Rock Head, I hope your spirits continue to lift. This music is such a gift and brings such joy. I am sorry you are/were in pain, and wish you happiness.
Rock Head. Yes! I discovered this miracle band tonight during this horrible time in my life. I am so sick, physically and mentally, but while this band is playing, I feel GOOD AGAIN.
I wrote and recommended this one right away when I heard you-always knew it was a perfect fit. As a kid that was the first song I ever heard that REALLY jammed and has it all. Knew Vasily was The Man for this one too! Awesome-We Love you all!
Once again: What an amazing performance! This combination of timing, musicality, skills and playing just enough to make the music do the talking. Kudos to a bunch of great musicans - the only comfort is that we'll beat you in hockey (i.e. Sweden) ;)
Man, I really dig Vasily’s voice and style. That dude has got some serious pipes and soul. And of course the rest of the band are all top-notch high-level players. Very very hot band!
I pity the 66 hopeless souls that have thumbs downed this amazing performance! Thank you Leonid and Friends for bringing great music back to life and at an amazingly high level of expertise!!! We LOVE you for it!!!
@@ushoys Hard to hold the Russian people accountable for what the Russian government has done! Something tells me that Leonid and Friends love Americans as much as their American fans love them!
VASILYYYY! THiS is YOuR Vehicle! Nice job! Nice to see everyone playing and recording at the same time. You all still seem to be having fun! Leonid, I’m so glad you were inspired to bring this music back around again and with such great energy. Continued success to all.
Incredible. I don't know what else to say. I'm truly speechless. This group is absolutely awesome. They play the music of my childhood and teen years. And I can't get enough of it!
WOW!!!.The original was fantastic, but, Leonid & friends have taken it to 'Another Level'. I don't think it possible for anyone to improve on Leonid & Friends take on it. These Guys (and Gals) not only make it 'Rock' (Vasily's husky voice is awesome) , but, ALL of them put so much energy and charisma into it, I can literally FEEL IT. And that charisma isn't just for this song, its in every song they do, Singers and Musicians alike.
Every cover every time I hear this group I’m just mesmerized at the perfection of the performers and performance. And to be shallow for a minute that female member is breathtaking beautiful and so is her voice. If she was in USA she would be a superstar icon.
It is literally impossible to say enough great things about this group. The talent on display here is amazing. It always makes me happy to get a notification that another Leonid & Friends video has been released. огромное спасибо
Found this amazing band by accident; wow, what a blast from the past. Each cover is better than the last. Hope to be able to see you all live some time. Keep on rockin'!
Listen to this band to break free of whatever is dragging you down. This is a great example of what is possible when you have the will and passion to follow your dreams.
Great vocals, Vasily. Tell the band, I felt like I was watching Ides, Live! You guys certainly ROCK! And a beautiful backing singer too boot! Excellent!
Geez! I've spent the last 6 months becoming completely addicted to Yoyoka videos, and now I'm at it again. The songs that Leonid and Friends are playing are the songs that made me fall in love with music in the 60s and 70s. I don't know how many times I'm going to listen to this, but it's on loop right now.

@@HeadHunterSix Yeah she is the most beautiful EVER!
Not to mention talented.
She looks feminine & no tattoos everywhere, purple or green hair chopped off, no body pierceings, no weird clothing or weird jewelry & she looks like the type that would marry & have kids too!!!!! Now tell me that is a 'rare jewel of a young woman' these days?????
That's the undisputable truth!
This song by the Ides of March is the bomb - simply electric. The Ides of March is spectacular live. And, all of you are sublime. The singer is so spot on - wow is he awesome. Great choice with this timeless song.
Agree love them❤
After watching the Ides of March perform this song I had to listen once again to this rendition. You hit it out of the park. Home run.
"Great God in Heaven, thank you for Leonid and Friends!" Brilliant!!!
Everybody has pretty much covered all the accolades of this group. They are truly amazing! Please, Leonid, never stop!!!
They are one of the best cover bands I've ever heard. Arrangements are spot on
We played these songs in high school marching band. Most Chicago songs. Best songs and time of my life! The 70s music is the best!!
fantastic group of talented musicians !!! mabuhay !!! jun mozo, davao city - philippines
OUTSTANDING! See you in Atlanta this summer.
Thursday June 11 8PM at Center Stage Theater
@@johnwirtz6159 Thanks for the info. I must get tickets. I missed them in Nashville last year.
It looks like Vlad on the keyboard is having a rough day because he's not using his left arm, and the lead singer reminds me of a young Willie Nelson, all in all a fantastic group and a great song!
i get the chills listening to this. the visceral intensity of everyone is spot on and exactly what this song demands.
Another spectacular cover. Thank you for your dedication to artistry.
They never cease to amaze me. LOVE this band.
Just saw this group in Visalia, California last week. Great concert, great performance...phenomenal group!
It's wonderful to see such amazingly talented performers not only give a stunning rendition of this song, but having so much fun while doing so. Fantastic!
Absolutely
Another phenomenal cover by my favorite Russian band. These folks have done more for Russian and USA pubIic relations than anything in my lifetime.
I agree. I love these guys!
I couldn't agree with you more!!
Ya know iBritter I do believe you are right....!!!
I am a disabled Veteran living in chronic pain and fatigue from Parkinson’s disease.
Estos kamaradas son excelentes. Cuando vienen a México ? . Angel Bonilla desde Cuautitlan, Estado de Mexico !!!
Rock Head, I hope your spirits continue to lift. This music is such a gift and brings such joy. I am sorry you are/were in pain, and wish you happiness.
Walli Haley thank you so very much!
Rock Head.
Leonid needs to get the credit for bringing all these great musicians together.
great cover love this from Mexico my beautiful city
Once again: What an amazing performance! This combination of timing, musicality, skills and playing just enough to make the music do the talking. Kudos to a bunch of great musicans - the only comfort is that we'll beat you in hockey (i.e. Sweden) ;)
1980 hockey
Canadian hockey friend here, I agree this is an amazing performance of one of my favorite songs. Bravo!
It's up to 180 now... what the heck!?
Some people hate everything Russian because of what they did to us.
@@ushoys Hard to hold the Russian people accountable for what the Russian government has done! Something tells me that Leonid and Friends love Americans as much as their American fans love them!
66 assholes...no loss...as they found their own rectums...
I just love Vasily Akimovs voice on this video. Just imagine what he could do with Chicagos South California Purples.
Dude, as a vocalist, I am a huge fan. This song was made for you. You kill it. Let’s hear more.
That’s how you cover a great song right there my son !
VASILYYYY! THiS is YOuR Vehicle! Nice job! Nice to see everyone playing and recording at the same time. You all still seem to be having fun! Leonid, I’m so glad you were inspired to bring this music back around again and with such great energy. Continued success to all.
Astounding how great you all are!! Love you from USA!!
Vasily’s voice is perfect gif this song. I also love it when he sings the Terry Kath parts of Chicago songs.
First heard this song at Woodstock. Fell in love with the band. They were a really nice surprise.
Best rendition of this song EVER. VIRAL TIME! From your USA friends…“Love ya want ya got to have ya.” We love you L&F!
Excellent song. Horn's and drums. That's what I'm talking about. Good job everyone
Incredible. I don't know what else to say. I'm truly speechless. This group is absolutely awesome. They play the music of my childhood and teen years. And I can't get enough of it!
One of the best cover bands. She is so easy on the eyes.
Eyeball Vacuum!
All of them are great 👍 But the main vocal dude is just out of this world 🌎
Well done guys
Unbelievable, I watch every morning just to get my day moving.thanks for sharing.
GREATNESS...WHAT CAN I SAY..I'M A MUSICIAN OVER 60 YEARS...THESE FOLKS DEFINE IT...WAY TO GO PEOPLE...WELL DONE...
Просто потрясающе❗️❗️❗️❗️
Found this amazing band by accident; wow, what a blast from the past. Each cover is better than the last. Hope to be able to see you all live some time. Keep on rockin'!
God, I love those horns!
Excellent!
Thank you, Leonid and everyone. My mom passed a week ago and I've been moping around... this was a wonderful ray of light for my soul.
Sorry, for your loss 😥
@@davidgoldstein1526 Thank you.
Sorry for your great loss and very glad this fabulous cover lifted you up.
Thanks to Leonid and friends! They've outdone themselves once again with another great song from the past.
Tight tight tight. Bass is powerfull, horns rock, guitar is rythmic and that voice is top notch. Bravo to all!
Nice, this is so cool song, well played and singer voice just pure gold..🥰
I havent been this Excited about a Band in a long time This Bunch is Top Knotch!!!!!!
