    Your channel is criminally undersubscribed mate! Ireally enjoy them uploads as and when they drop! Your fellow expert - from gloomy London - in Doha (Qatar) atm. Best decision I made to move from the UK. My mental heath had plummeted even since I literally checked into my hotel in Doha.
    It’s been 4 months and Alhamdulillah managed to sign a 1 year contract with a landlord to secure a nice 2 bedroom apartment very close to the famous Souk Al Waqif.
    I am an ex Goldman Sachs employee, and now work for Doha Bank. Proper chilling here and love it.

    The best advice to anyone considering moving abroad is to get your feet on the ground of where ever you want to move to and check it out. I did exactly this 25 years ago when I moved to the Caribbean, where I enjoyed 15 wonderful years before heading to Spain. After 8 years exploring the Iberian peninsula in a series of motorhomes (it's very MH friendly away from the Med coast) I returned to the UK but I'm not staying. I'm 64 and off to check out Thailand and the Philippines next. Once you free yourself of being tied to the bit of the planet where you were born and embrace that the world is your home, there's no looking back.
    This precious existence we call life is not a dress rehearsal. Every day is opening night, you're the star of your show and all the world is your stage. Get out there and have fun.

    My partner and I are tentatively thinking about leaving the UK, we was hoping things may get better under the new government but far from it (they've actually made things far worse for my industry!) I have seen opportunities in other countries which do look really appealing. Massive step but It really does feel like a bleak future in a UK that is falling apart.

    Its bittersweet seeing so many young ones leaving the UK. Your generation really have no chance in that dump.
    I was born in Ireland but raised in London, I'm lucky enough to have had the sense to abandon that ship 15 years ago now.
    I'm considering moving again, this time from Perth to Penang. One of my biggest considerations is my children's education.
    Once you disclosed you were educated in a Sino-Anglo international school my mind was made up.
    Any advice on guiding my kids towards ACS scholarships?😂

    • @TomBirchy
      @TomBirchy  7 дней назад +6

      My school was actually a local school, not international, but was very good. It’s quite famous in Singapore. I only got in through a sporting scholarship, so perhaps make sure the kids are top talent in a particular sport

      That's a path that I was on before Brexit upended my applecart. Be aware that actually moving to Finland from the UK is no easy thing these days. The most important thing to note is that your ability to legally remain in Finland will entirely depend upon you obtaining and retaining employment. No job = no visa.

Obviously there are some fundamental differences to the UK to consider but on the whole they love it there and said it is the safest place they've ever lived! They have no plans to return

    I honestly dislike it westerners keep saying Thailand is cheap. It's cheap for you as you earn the so called expat wages, so everything is cheaper as you purchase them in local currency. But for regular thais, it's not cheap as they earn much lesser.
