I am from the UK, and have been living abroad for 5 years now. I am in my early 30s. What you are saying is correct, however I do not think the UK is as doomed as all these videos on youtube state. I am typing this while visiting my parents over the xmas/NYE period in the UK. I think people need to realize (1) life in general is becoming more difficult overall in almost most countries. living expensives are increasing so much, quality of services are decreasing and the government is still at times incompetent, and (2) the real reason people are complaining is not that the UK is finished per say, but rather people can save less money for personal expenses. I cannot comment on your work per say, but provided someones salary is not enough, there are potential remidies which may be called more necessary now. Living with parents can save rent, working from home or remote work, cutting down on costs, £630 on food for a single person per month? bit too much. I remember I paid £400 and that was generous, a key is to cook more. From Sainsburys I can get frozen vegetables, two steaks for around £7-8 which covers two dinners. A key important for this generation more so, and also for future generations is the importance of saving. Saving now, and benefitting later such as money that can be used on a house, pension, or investments/stocks/family. Despite me saying this, I am fully aware the UK is expensive, but small changes can have big effects. The UK is still a fantastic place to be, some of the nicest people, no extreme weather conditions, great educational schools and universities, still a functioning NHS, selection of international food, its english speaking, and best of all great alcohol selection :) Note I am a little biased as I am from the sticks, so cost of living is much cheaper here. Hope it all works out for you Rixan! On a side note, moving abroad has a lure which can blind reality. Meeting new people, settling into a new country, going to a country which has worse services and more corruption is not great. Yes you may be able to buy a cheap nasi lemak and pad thai in SEA (while having access to beaches), but when push comes to shove and you need to see a doctor, or get a legal document sorted, or require assistance from the police (in a foreign country) you will realize the level of corruption and bureaucracy is much worse ompared to the UK. Have a great day! :) Happy NY!

@@Dublinby thanks for your thoughts on the matter! I think yes 630 on food is a little on the high side but I very rarely drink so probably evens things out with the average person when combined.
I agree there is a lot of negativity and unbalanced takes on life in the UK from people that don't know better ie what a real struggle looks like in other countries. It's probably easier to have a more realistic take when not always in the UK. Cheers

They're probably £5 each. By the time you've got 20 of them,
£200 probably before you've even made anything.
It is something you have to keep at otherwise it's a total waste of money.
I got myself a smart plug so I can turn it off or on from anywhere I am. Turn on at 10am off again at 18:00. Which is handy if you went to work at 8am.
A timer plug would also work.
It does require some meal planning but overtime you just know what to buy and make every week.
I cook one week of the month, the other 3 I'm just ploughing through the frozen leftovers.
Say 4 chicken breasts cost £7 a packet, I could buy two whole chickens for £8 get the four breasts plus four legs, four thighs, four wings.

@ why don’t you start investing than? Investing doesn’t mean you need that much money. You can do it with even 200£ monthly

Nice video. There is no doubt that there is a cost of living crisis in the UK. Unfortunately wages have not kept up with inflation for the last 10-15 years at least. It's a serious problem.
Just a shame you started the video with a mini-rant about immigrants., The cost of living crisis is nothing to do with the high levels of immigration. Immigration is probably too high at the moment but most studies show that on average they are net contributors to tax since most are net contributors of tax. That is probably not true for the small proportion of illegal immigrants ('the boats') but the vast majority of immigrants are legally let into the country by the government and are coming here to work.

@@stephenwestland942 thanks for the feedback. My research was indicating that immigration is driving up housing costs. Also that whilst immigration in the past was a net positive to the economy that that has not been the case of late. I'll certainly dig deeper. Cheers

@ Food quality in Thailand or Bali is much better. In general food there is better than is Europe in my option.
