    I'm 100 % christian and this is where I differ from opinion with Corey. I do however love his music. I can see where people get angry at Christians for going too far on such things as hell bashing people, but if you really have read the bible, it speaks against being a heretic. Trying to tell someone that their belief is wrong and your way to salvation is right is biblically wrong. Period. Paul states in the bible for people to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling. Not have someone try and bash God into you by force.

    • @JoJo-jk8ds
      @JoJo-jk8ds Месяц назад

      if “hell bashing” is what i believe it to be then i mean it isn’t crazy to shame someone for loving satan

    • @kdxracer184
      @kdxracer184 Месяц назад +1

      @JoJo-jk8ds Hell bashing in his context is constantly telling people they're going to hell for everything. While it may be true and they do need to understand where the possibilities lie after death that will only get so far without the message of Jesus to back it up. Telling people they're going to hell without giving them a way out is counter productive.

    • @kdxracer184
      @kdxracer184 Месяц назад

      @JoJo-jk8ds And as far as "loving satan" the shame is in the act itself. Adding onto that shame only sinks it deeper.

    I am a Christian, and I love Slipknot. 99% of what he is saying is absolutely true without a doubt. I hate hypocrites and people who try to tell everyone what to do and they are in the same boat we're in. Christians have a very bad reputation and it is so sad. I hate "Christian" protesters that they judge and condemn everyone, We are to love thy neighbor whether they're fellow believers or atheists we are to love them just as Christ loved us.

      Exactly, I am very religious, and love Jesus with everything I have but I still like rocking out to some metal. I feel bad for people like Corey who miss out on incredible things all because these hypocrites who call themselves Christians are so judgmental. Luke 6:37 says “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.” It's written many times throughout the bible to not judge others and yet many times, Christians are the most judgmental people out there.

    Brother Corey is spot on with distancing himself from so called "Christians." I grew up very roman catholic and left oppressive Catholicism because of other beliefs that made way more sense to me. Especially after leaving catholicism, "family" treated me with so much disrespect, treated me like I was a nobody, demonized, rediculed, criminalized, shunned, and hated on me so bad. I got just about the same treatment from other "Christians" accusing me of all kinds of blasphemy, telling me so much lies, trying to discredit me, and couldn't take any kind of normal, decent criticism themselves. I lost a friend again because I absolutely refused to get manipulated into thinking his weird random babbling and random, strange speech was "the gift of tongues." Then he had the gall to talk about other faiths being manmade and that I was being mislead. Blows my mind hearing that from someone fooled into thinking his gibberish is the gift of tongues. Something anyone can fake or imitate. 🤦

    I'm a biblical Christian and we don't force people our beliefs, we are separate from the others like catholic, Lutheran,etc we believe that if you believe in god in you're heart and you believe in him, he is in you're heart. My belief is a a lot different. I understand about why Corey Taylor thinks that. I'm not trying to be one sided I'm trying to be as open minded as possible. By the way I'm not labeling those other religions above and saying all of them are like that. And I'm not defending my religion either, some people in my religion can get pretty mean, but not everyone. I can understand Corey's pain I get mocked by some religious people about my hairstyle and how it looks goth like. Basically the definition of religion is like Corey said it's you're belief of what's in you're heart. If you have any points about either side of the argument reply and keep it open minded and not biased. Thanks have a good day

    As a Christian, Corey is definitely right. We give ourselves a bad name. We label people, we judge people, we even push people away because they aren't "one of us". That's the opposite of the Gospel. We are supposed to show love, respect, and kindness to every single person. Gay, straight, Jewish, atheist, doesn't matter. We are supposed to treat them with the same love that Jesus did. And we fail at that, miserably. So, we, as God's people, need to find a way to correct that. Cause who in their right mind would want to associate themselves with someone who acts like they are better than them.

    It's interesting to me that at age 10 he decided that church wasn't for him... based on a cruel thing that his Grandmother did to him. But it is the thinking of a 10 year old that does that. What's sad (And I love and Respect Mr. Taylor... he is by far one of my favorite musicians) he's still holding to that perspective some 20+ years later.
    I agree... churches don't make god, nor do all Christians, however by the same concept he should also hate old people, and especially grandmothers. (This would be rediculous.)
    No... I think the biggest problem this world has is the ability for people to make mass generalization based on keyhole views of a situation.
    Fortunately, he also shows that he has the ability to discern a seething hatred, and a choice to not associate. The man is brilliant. Respect.

    As a believer in Jesus myself, I wasn't always a "Christian". I grew up listening to 80's and 90's metal. Psychopathic records (I don't care about whatever feud was between ICP and Slipknot, I liked them both and had nothing to do with me). Also Eminem.
    I didn't go to church, because I felt the saem way as most people. As far as evidence goes, I like what KottonMouthKings said "you cannot see what you're not looking for". So, looking around and actually observing nature and the world in general around you, it's hard for me now not to see evidence of God.
    People say there's so many bad things in the world so God can't be real. Problem is if you take God out of the picture, you still have bad things in the world.
    As a man who has done much studying, serious thought, and as what our taste in music says basically "screw what everyone else thinks about you, and work hard for what you want" I've come to this conclusion: as so many say "man has corrupted religion" that doesn't exclude the way I may think, which means my opinion too could be corrupted, so,
    I went to church, listened to the pastor, went home, read the word myself, then prayed to God for clarity. And that is when the Lord revealed Himself to me. That is when I learned the truth. And that is why I follow Him.
    I didn't just go to church for some concrete benefit. I didn't just pray to whatever false god MAN invented, and I didn't just read scripture alone. I did it all. Studied it. Had patience, and waited for clarity. As doing so I thought I was losing everything, but figured well I'm used to losing things. Carried on with the faith, then later learned I wasn't losing, but rather the bad was being replaced with the good.

I now think all religion is silly and for the weak minded, it takes a lot of courage to walk away from your religion and not replace it with another. Trust me personal growth is very limited and slow going when clinging to a tradition instead of carving your own path in life.

    I 100% agree with the fact that their are hypocritical Christians out there and I agree they treat nonbelievers like shit. What i disagree on is the fact that he said there is no God. There is a God and anyone that has actually prayed knows that he is real. The things is yes I'm a devoted Christian and I will have God's back for eternity, but one of my favorite bands is slipknot and i do enjoy listening to stone sour. ***** Christianity is just a theory as it's never been proven. I think spirituality is a personal thing because it's more about the way people feel than about the way they think. Some people feel it, some don't. To me, free will means you can be honest about how you feel. Religion deals more with the way people think, which makes it easier for someone to be manipulated because they don't have to "feel it" or know why they believe it. Religion has a more human element to it because it is man made.

    I agree with him. I'm Christian myself, but i don't support church or priests, that's all bullshit. Like Corey said, if there is a god, (which i believe there is), it's inside of all of us. And for those who believe in him, just follow him yourself, do it yourself, don't go around following what those 'christians' and priests or whatever say, that certainly don't do any good shit for sure, that's why you have your own damn life. It's sad many Christians are close minded... BTW, i'm a metalhead!

      That’s not a pentagram lol 😂 idk if you know what a pentagram is but there is an upside down star in a circle and the reason it’s upside down is because the pentagram takes on the shape of a goat head and satanic numbers on the side of each point of the star but I hope I answered your question

    Christian is such a broad term, people have bad experiences with some, and therefore label them as hateful altogether. For me personally, my beliefs and morals, a lot of people will disagree and call it hateful and narrow minded. But why can’t I believe and practice these things? Isn’t it narrow minded to tell me how to live my life and what to conform to? All I’m saying is truth is truth and nothing’s gonna stop me from living it out.

    Corey Taylor must have met many good Christians if he thinks that about us. And that’s fine. He’ll stand where he wants to on the matter and I won’t look up to him as much as I used to anymore. He’s a good vocalist, and a cool dude. But that’s my God he’s talking about there.

    He's also right about how the way many Christians treat other people. It's the opposite of what Christ commanded. Treat everyone with love. That is Christ's command

    This is not a good reason to say you're not a Christian. Generalizing is never a good reason to believe or not believe something, but I respect his opinion nonetheless. I question my faith all the time, but in the end, I think the evidence for the existence of God outweighs there's not being one. This is just my opinion though. Long live Metal/Rock.

    Im a Christian. I'm in Christian bands and a worship leader in my youth group. But with that said, I hate and I mean hate a lost of people who think they're Christian and go out and ridicule people. Corey is a role model for me. Hypocritical Christians such as the people of Westbrook give all of us a bad name. I do what I want, and when I want. I feel as if I know God and we have a good relationship. But Corey is right in all of this. God is in all of us Just saying your Hail Marys wont save you

    I believe in God. I would call myself a Christian in its true sense. And I agree with every single word that Corey said. Even the part about being raised Lutheran: I was raised Lutheran too, so I know what he says is true.
    You shouldn't need other people telling you what God is, cuz he's in all of us. How Christians should treat other people is basic morality, wich means most Christians certainly aren't moral...
    Corey's point is made.

    For all the people out there who have been hurt by Christians. Im honestly truly so sorry. Thats horrible and your suffering is valid and there is no excuse for it. From a Christian, I can tell you that Christians are not special. We are all broken and utterly imperfect and we all have the capacity for malevolence and evil. God loves Christians just like He loves you or any one else. Gods loves every single one of us as if we were the only person on earth. And that love is so much more than just a feeling. Thats why I can confidently say God loves you even if you feel the opposite. Because I often feel the opposite to. Christians just people who live in and for the love of God.
    Ive suffered terrible depression due to religious obsessions. I do believe in Jesus Christ, and Corey's right; the Jesus that a large amount of Christians portray is not the Jesus of the Bible. From my Christian understanding, it is a Biblical fact that God is impartial when it comes to His love. He loves all people with a love so deep and so high it is literally impossible to comprehend. And some people do such a shitty job at portraying that love. Me included. Im not trying to convert of preach to anyone, I really do just want the metal community (which i adore) to know that the Church, or the religion that hurt you, is NOT who Jesus is. God does not threaten or accuse people, or belittle them for who they are.
    People will always be flawed and "sinful" to use the Christianese term. But thats the fucking point! That Jesus IS perfect, because we could NEVER be. Picture a God this loving: we are broken and flawed and faulty there is evil in every human heart. Now God is, by nature, perfection, so He cant really live inside someone whos imperfect, thats where all this horrific stuff about hell and separation from God comes from BUT THAT IS NOT THE FULL STORY; the Bible claims that Jesus is a part of God. So, because God DOES NOT want us to suffer and DOESNT want us to go to hell, He sent Jesus, His Son to die for us instead. So we wouldnt have to suffer the consequences of our brokenness. He gave up his perfection to suffer the most broken death in our place. And because Hes God, He rose from the dead anyway to prove that He has authority over death and our sins. That doesnt mean everything is fixed instantly, but it does mean that no matter what happens to us, God will use it to make us better people and He will draw close to us when we're hurting. Even if we cant feel anything but pain. The Bible says that "God is close to the broken hearted" Psalms 24:18. God loves EVERYONE, even satanists. It breaks His heart to see them insulting Him. But God still loves satanists. The only one God hates in satan. Because satan is the origin of misery, death and suffering. Humans make bad choices that we have to face the consequences of. But if you acknowledge the love of God in Jesus, then "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" Romans 8:1 And when Jesus died, He confronted satan and defeated him. And Jesus is coming back again soon to finish the job and eradicate all evil and suffering forever. "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4
    Christians are also probably one of if not the only major religion with a whole subgenre of metal dedicated to their message. Thats because Jesus' love and salvation feels like a powerful and beautiful metal song. It empowers you.
    I am so sorry if anything I said hurt anyone, I know Churchy talk can sound strange and hurtful, its hurt me alot. But no matter how much pain we endure, the unity of music, the unity of love, and above all, the unity of the Holy Spirit is infinitely greater than any malevolence or sadness we know.
    No ones perfect. And God doesnt expect us to be. He just wants to love us and to help us to love ourselves, others and Him better. GOD LOVES YOU ALL SO MUCH. I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH

    Corey doesn't seem to realize that Christains are the most generous people in the world when it comes to charity.They donate more than any others on the planet to help other people.I don't go to church either and don't belong to any organized religion but I at least am aware of this fact.Maybe when Corey actually grows up and truly opens his eyes he'll realize this as well.

    I couldn't agree more with Corey. I a lot of the time don't like to refer myself as a Christian. I don't even give myself to a certain denomination in Christianity. I call myself a grateful believer in Jesus Christ. I get very annoyed at the people that show up on Sundays to "play church." Then they go out and deny anyone who doesn't believe in their set ways. I go for the people that have faith and have a relationship with Jesus Christ and seek him everyday. Not the people that can show up to church on a Sunday and check the "showed up to church" off their to do list for the week.
