    Really beaut. I'll study this and come back to it a number of times for various projects.

    Is there a master list of tokens? How do we know what we can enter?
    Thanks!

    I would like Anthony Hughes to make a video on inserting musical symbols, like Coda signs etc. and the many different musical symbols and where to find them in Dorico. Thanks. This was a very helpful video. Cheers.

      We'll take that on-board, thank you. At the moment we don't have all the options to do coda in a simple way, so he's probably holding out till then. (At the moment depending on the situation you might use a new flow.)

    Hello. As I would like to do with Dorico 4, what we see in this tutorial from 2017... It looked so simple at the time with Dorico 2! I wonder after hours of research and reading what are the current procedures that would allow the same things to be done (in Dorico 4)...
    Thanks for any help.

      When you are working with tokens in v4 you can now right-click in a text field and choose your token e.g. facebook.com/watch/?v=369853904020741

      @@doricoThank you for your reply... I have gone deeper into the layout in the engraving mode of Dorico 4 and found the correct technique with indeed the tokens.

    In Dorico Elements 2.2 (30 day trial) I'm flying with note input/editing but I'm really struggling with the whole issue of text tokens to the point of making me doubt that I'll buy. In the absence of Engraving mode I cannot seem to edit the text that appears on my page. Changes I make in Project Info do not seem to have any effect. I've spent longer on this than I did composing my piece. Rather like my experience with Finale. I wish you could give a wee bit more functionality to the Elements user (who may well turn out to be a buyer of the full version).

      I agree, I am pulling my hair with all of these labeling. The parts do not have the same info as the full score and why does the flow title always have a number 1 in front of it. Even if I dont have a flow 2. This should be automatic.

    • @dorico
      @dorico  5 лет назад

      @@pablosalazarcomposer you can edit the flow headers as well as all the token positions if you don't want e.g. the {@FlowNumber@}

    I am loving all your wonderful tutorial videos Antony. You are doing an Amazing job and I hope you never tire out. With tokens, it wasn’t quite clear to me “why” they are there and the point they serve. Only with the player-list token, I think I got a hint - provided it works automatically (ie without the user needing to type the players in one by one at the project setup menu). It is very likely I’m simply getting very rusty with my brain cells and couldn’t pick up the reasoning behind this feature. A million thanks again for everything you are doing that makes this software such a hopeful breeze in a composer’s world. Please keep going

    If the players for each flow are different, how do we get the playerList token to reflect that ?

    • @dorico
      @dorico  7 лет назад +1

      There isn't a specific token for that yet. The list of available tokens will definitely mature over time, so I'll make sure I have a note of this and see if it's something we can accommodate in the future.
      Thanks, Anthony

      Some things have moved a little in v2, but all the options should still be there. Please get in touch with support if you think this isn't the case at www.steinberg.net/index.php?id=9075&L=1

    Great! however, in your video the frames for lyricist and composer appear to be there automatically from the beginning, but that is not the case when I try to do the same. For a bigger song cycle with many pieces, it is rather annoying to have to add all these frames for each movement. How do I get them to be there automatically as in your video?

    • @dorico
      @dorico  5 лет назад +1

      The default First master page now includes e.g. {@ProjectComposer@} and {@ProjectLyricist@} tokens, but you can change these or add others in Engrave mode by editing the Master Pages in the RH panel.

    • @silvanloher5912
      @silvanloher5912 5 лет назад

      @@dorico strangely, even if I change the master page, The frames and Tokens I add there still won't show up.... :-( Why? What am I missing? I changed the master "first page" with text frames and tokens and clicked on "apply", but the frames I added still don't show up...

      @@silvanloher5912 have you got a red triangle on that page in the RH panel in Engrave mode? You might have some overrides to your page (maybe by dragging / editing the page) so it is no longer following the master page template. I know, I am ruthless...forgive me...
    I see that in coupling instruments (clarinets, horn, etc...) the instrument name is 'Clarinets 1, Bb 2' ... is this intentional because you are working on an update on this side or not?
    Will I be able to change the playerList text once it is entered or if double-clicked it will just give me the {@playerList@}?
    Thank you!

    • @dorico
      @dorico  7 лет назад +1

      Editing the text frame will always show you the token name rather than permanently substituting the resulting text in; that way it can remain live and update as the project info changes.
      And yes, there is much more that is planned to be done with instrument labels - we'll get to it as soon as we can!
      Thanks,
      Anthony

    Tokens? Really? Why make it so complicated? If you're trying to make a usable notation program, this isn't the way to do it.

    • @dorico
      @dorico  6 лет назад +2

      Tokens really do make it easy to automate and speed up putting things like titles, composer details and page details in all the right places and many other programs use a similar system.
