I've spent the last two years of my music degree hating sibelius with a passion THIS DOES LITERALLY EVERYTHING I'VE EVER WANTED SIBELIUS TO DO WHERE HAS IT BEEN ALL MY LIFE
Amazing stuff guys. Longtime Sibelius user here and Dorico is just so much better for workflow and on laptops in particular where one doesn’t have access to a number pad.
Would be nice to have a complete german manual, up to now it has only 168 instead of over 800 pages like the english handbook. It would be also nice to find german videos about Dorico.
We are working hard on the translated documents, and also have plans for videos in German - watch this space! In the meantime you can watch some German videos here: elearning.hslu.ch/cm
Sorry for the delay - the full stop or period key is a regular dot and alt + full stop gives double, triple and quadruple dots depending on how many times you press it. You'll see the rhythm dot icon at the top of the left panel change the more times you press it.
I have a question though..are playing tecniques not included in Dorico Elements? I see them in the panels on the right side, didn't manage to make them work though.. I've tried all sorts..they do not work. Pizzicato plays the same as normal, etc. P.S. Great video! Easy to learn too!
Hi dear Anthony , please help me . how can I split 2 voices from one stave , I have a piece for 2 Vlns they are together importet from MIDI files , but I cant split the voices , its a loooot of work to do it note by note , it must be a way to split all in two different voices or? thanks
@@anthughes1977 It may be helpful to add steinberg.help/dorico/v3.5/extra/dorico-3.5.10-popovers.pdf in the description, or point to a newer video if there is one. Thank you.
Heh, heh; when going around pupils’ work in the classroom listening to their compositional work I had to to develop fast work flows. Eventually, this was mostly via short cuts on the computer keyboard…
Don't worry, most of us have switched from another program, and we're hear to help. I would start with the free trial and use this 'getting started' PDF: blog.dorico.com/2018/09/getting-started-with-note-input/
This is it. This is the video that pushes me over the edge to become a Dorico man. Arrivederci, Finale!
I'm very very close. This IS the one video that's 100% impressed me.
Well, now we've been FORCED away from Finale... but this video convinces me that Dorico is the right way forward.

This is the best way of inputing ornaments and all the different stuff I've ever seen in a music notations software!
Amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing
WOW! DORICO is POWERFUL! Thanks again Anthony!
Wow. Just... wow. Amazing work on Dorico.
It's absolutely amazing how it rebars the music immediately if you change the time sig. Would have spent hours doing this in Sib!
GREAT video. I've had Dorico for a few month but just now getting into it and the innovations are wonderful!
OMG! I haven't been this excited about note input in a long time. Definitely getting this program.
Thanks Anthony for these refreshingly clear explanations
Great video, thank you. Wish I had it all at my fingertips already. First need to unlearn some "things"!!

For a number pad on my laptop I use a 3rd party app which turns my iPhone into one. Before getting this I was so slow;-)
Wonderful informative video... Regards
Excellent Video, extremely helpful - thank yoU!
Great video, thank you !
Marco, you asked yesterday about the newer 'force duration' options, and I meant to send you this link: ruclips.net/video/Pq8NfuMx8S8/видео.html
Please update the link to the Dorico v.5 Popover pdf! Thanks
Agreed. I cannot find a Popovers pdf.
Guys this is amazing. :)
very nice program
anything like ornament or meter need to have hidden function. for example, after setting x time signature, hiddening x will very powerful funtion.
like this, note, dynamics, text 1 letter, barline, clef and so on. hidden funtion is needed.
Does it play what you input? This would be a crescendo marking or a trill or a dynamic marking?
Looks great. Thinking of switching to Dorico from Finale. Is there a grossgrade available?
They have both crossgrade and university discount which can be combined :)

Can these shortcuts be reassigned to just one key, like in Sibelius, instead of holding shift?
You can remap many shortcuts in Preferences > Key Commands. You can also use the jump bar and set jump bar aliases too.
Brilliant.
I have all the manual , just tell me what video or page I have to search ok? thanks
How can I write swing equation at the top of the score?
How do you do rehearsal marks?
Shift-A when you have an item selected in that bar.
@@dorico Thank you!
I'm trying to find out how to input a double-dot rhythm but having no luck. Any clues?

Yes they are included. Did you enter them in the Shift + P (playing techniques) popover?
Yes I did. Selected a note, pressed Shift+P and typed pizz. Chose it from the suggestion list that popped up. The notes play without the pizz.

If you select all the violin part you can use Edit > Filter and then filter a specific voice to then move or cut and paste it
@@dorico OK Thanks I'll try .....
Where can i find the pdf about typing ?
Sef Bezemer Hi, you can find it at steinberg.help/dorico/v1/extra/dorico-popovers.pdf
Hello, as mentioned by Anthony on the video the link to the PDF can be found in the description.

This makes this program as quick as Sib……
Quicker... race ya...?
Heh, heh; when going around pupils’ work in the classroom listening to their compositional work I had to to develop fast work flows.
Eventually, this was mostly via short cuts on the computer keyboard…
I would barely touch the piano keyboard; I’d enter everything via the qwerty keyboard and right clicking the mouse.
woooooooooooow.
Even though this is super useful, it would be hard switching 😅
