    Congratulations - this is like the only real review of this product on RUclips. The other guys tell us stuff that's plainly obvious ("this jacket has snap buttons...", etc.), but you actually REVIEWED the product. Well done !

    Thanks for the views!
    This was my earliest video, as I was in quarantine, without wifi (or even running water) I decided to do a few reviews. Since these videos I've had the privilege of helping build an off grid cottage over the summer. Feel free to check out my channel for more videos (and a few more reviews ;) )
    Thanks!

    Nice review. Thanks for the details. Most of the reviews describes jacket features that anyone can see on the website or on-line shop. But... none of them show years of experience using the products. Your review shows what to expect from the jacket.

    Thanks for the review Zack. I have the same jacket (3 years now) and agree that it is indeed really noisy inside the hood. I solved the issue by wearing either a wool cap or baseball cap fyi.
    I also agree the jacket is basically warm enough however because it doesn’t cover the hips and doesn’t sinch, it is not nearly as warm as a Parka in my opinion. Overall though a great product and stylish!

      Hi Johann,
      Yes good point actually, the length is a bit of an issue for warmth. I miss my parka for those colder days thats for sure!

    Agreed, I actually went one size bigger because I have large shoulders and the movement was restricted. The downsize is it's pretty large around the sides and tummy area now.

    Good review. I don't need to know what the jacket has, I can figure that out on the website. I need to know how the cuffs and seams hold up. Thank you for the insight. Really hard finding good reviews on expensive gear.

    I have a barent parka which I found it to run large. BUT that depends on how one would layer inside. I don't work in a office so I don't wear like those office people who wear thin layers inside with winter jacket. I perfer to wear a base layer, fleece, maybe a vest depending on weather, than winter parka. Mine is large and with the way i dress with a vest, my parka feel loose fit feel to it.
    I have tried on a Greenland Winter Jacket before in medium and that fitted good but i found that jacket to be less bulkly than some of the down fjallraven jackets.
    I do agreet that cut of the clothing is slight different than typical north american fit. but again i feel like its more designed to be layered with thick sweaters and such. if you are those who don't wear thick layers inside , i say consider sizing down. Heck, while trying Greenland Winter jacket, I have actually fit & able to zip up in XS size! sleeve was fit short but i was shocked that i could zip up. but i only had 1 layer of sweater on too! i normally wear medium or large top just for your reference.
    I mean if you search for fjallraven winter jackets of various models, pretty much most of them wear thin layers inside the jacket. so it really depends on how you perfer to layer inside when choosing fjallraven size.
    Overall,,, if one does not mind these types of rugged outdoor type of design, i also highly recommend fjallraven. (but i would only buy during sale or something)

    I just got this jacket and it fits great in every area except for the torso being too tight in the armpit area when I reach or twist. Would you say the material loosens up a bit over time? I’d go a size up but every other aspect of the coat would be too large, particularly the sleeves.

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  4 месяца назад

      Ya I was the same, I’d have gone a size up too but everything else wouldn’t have fit as well. I don’t think the materials loosens but maybe gets a bit more flexible with a few months of wear. This is still my jacket, 3 years after this review, and still like it, but am thinking I’ll have to upgrade to more of a parka for those could weeks in winter

    Thank you Zack for the insightful review. Did any of the feathers fall out over the years? Especially through those holes on the sleeves and on the back?

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! And no, the holes in the sleeve were just the g-1000 fabric, it’s a fold to widen or narrow the opening and they don’t use down in that area.
      For everywhere else I’ve maybe lost one or two feathers I’ve noticed, surprisingly little after all these years, almost 8-9 now

    Thanks for no unnecessary comments, pointing out cons that really matter. And I feel you Zack regarding Scandinavian design! I'm 175 cm and wider than average. top wears are always tight in the chest, trousers always tight in the thighs and too long!
    One question do you think an autumn sweater under the jacket is enough for temperature up -15 celsius?

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the feedback Chamran
      Mm -15 is pushing it, I was finding with a wool baselyer and a sweater it was okay if you were moving. Only downfall if you have a bulky sweater it makes the fit even tighter.

  • @GetUpTheMountains

    Fjallraven should repair those holes for you, free of charge. Part of their warranty.

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  2 года назад +1

      Thats on the to do list :/ I actually had the cuffs of the sleeves fixed, the stitching on the leather was coming loose, they fixed it no problem, but did have to wait 5 weeks i think it was
      (granted, they had to send it to one of their only locations in Canada at the time, in Quebec, i'm sure things are different now)

      I'm 5'9", 170 pounds, and its a size medium, again, fits well other then the shoulder/chest area, as soon as a put a sweater on, theres some restriction there

    Hi there, I really like the review! I'm thinking of buying this for the cold weather but I'm a little worried about the down if it gets wet (I live in Manchester UK) ... have you ever got it wet through, and if so what was it like after it dried out? (ie did it affect the down and baffles at all) Any info would be very much appreciated! Steve

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  3 года назад +1

      Hi Steve!
      Thanks for the comment.
      Yea, the one downer with down is that it looses a lot of its insulation capabilities once it gets wet.
      I haven't noticed water getting through the fabric, keep in mind I wax it, which, while preventing water from getting in, makes it less breathable, and I find I sweat easier because of it.
      Tough call on your end. I'm guessing your winters are pretty damp and cold, down may not be the way to go if your doing a lot of activities in it. I usually discard the coat and have a wool sweater at hand if need be.
      Cheers!

    • @herbhimself
      @herbhimself 2 года назад +2

      @@zackcrafted cheers Zak, much appreciated. I'm using it more as a fashion item rather than a funtional jacket, so I think I'll take a risk :)
      I noticed on the Fjallraven site it says it can be machine washed. Have you ever washed yours, and if so did the down stay fairly well put?

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  2 года назад +2

      @@herbhimself ya id say go for it, id say anything over -15 its not enough to keep warm ;)
      I haven't washed mine yet, and its seen about 5 winters here, could always take it to a cleaner to be on the safe side though.

    Yeah, you mentioned the hood being a weak point and that's the one feature that is keeping me from buying. Spoiled by canada goose.
