    I'm a big fan of Fjallraven in general, and own this padded jacket in Navy and Dark Red. Only issues are the zipper from the bottom often jams on the wind shield. Even when opening it slowly I find it often catches/snags so you can't just whip the zip up when you need a pee. Minor complaint, otherwise it's an investment garment - tons of pockets, good warmth & extremely well constructed. Will last a lifetime

      @181Days  Год назад +2

      I totally agree!! And an investment garment is a great way to describe it! This thing will last and keeps me from buying junky coats to serve a lesser purpose. I think that's really important! Thanks for the comment!

    Had one but sold it as I already had the normal skogso jacket. If I get cold I double up with the fjallraven keb light padded jacket which then makes it exactly like the skogso padded.

    Adding Greenland wax will NOT make any of those resistant jackets waterproof, just more resistant.

    Another question: I’m normally a medium. I’ve seen people comment that they order a size down, what do you normally wear a jacket?

    • @181Days
      @181Days  7 месяцев назад +1

      I’m normally a small and I bought a small. I’d say it fits me perfectly and leaves enough room for a fleece or sweater under it with no problem, or fine by itself. For me, I think a size up would hang off me!

    I have the un-padded version. USELESS in the wet. Even after four applications of Greenland wax. Otherwise a lovely jacket which looks good in the pub - that's all it's really good for. My go-to is my Mountain Equipment Rupal for disgusting weather and my Berghaus Hillwalker for moderate conditions.

      Hi! Yes it will definitely work for those ranges. You might even be a bit too hot in the 60s! But this is a great jacket. Many times this winter I threw this on just over a t shirt to run out quickly. Of course it’s more comfy with an extra layer between, but yeah it will be great for that. It’s all I bring now for real cold days! (Also disregard my deleted comment in case you got a notification about it, I mistyped in that one!)

      Hi! Surprisingly well. I take this thing everywhere with me, throw it in the bottom of a bag, or lately just sandwich it between the sides of my carry on because it compresses well and it shows no damage or wear at all. It’s really great! I just brought it on a trip with just my Patagonia sweater in 28° weather and it was perfect

    Would you say this skogso padded or the Greenland insulated is warmer?

    • @181Days
      @181Days  Год назад +1

      So I haven't worn the Greenland on like a hike but have worn it in store and while they're pretty similar, I think the fleece on the inside of the Greenland makes it a bit warmer. I do remember being warm immediately when I tried it on! And that is their flagship jacket, so I think it wins in the warmth category!

    • @mattallengroupatREAL

      @@mattallengroupatREAL I caved in and got myself the Skogso Padded in Black. I have to say it’s dope and it’s super warm in cold temperature. I was thinking of the Greenland jacket before getting this one, but the design and style of the jacket wasn’t my preference. It doesn’t look like the kind of everyday jacket I’d want to rock in the streets of NYC. So I went with the Skogso padded at the end it’s more fashionable as well as an everyday jacket.

    I have just got this jacket after reading a lot of reviews about it. I am a bit disappointed. It doesn't breathe at all. I start sweating in a few minutes, even when just walking in -2 C. Cannot imagine climbing somewhere with backpack wearing this jacket.

    • @181Days
      @181Days  5 месяцев назад

      Sorry to hear that! It is certainly a warm jacket, but it has kept me cold on some seriously cold nights too, so I guess there is a balance

    • @Lefaseer
      @Lefaseer 4 месяца назад

      You can wash the factory wax off in a washing machine to make it breathe way more. At least I know it can be done with the non-padded pants.

  • @xxgg
    @xxgg Год назад +1

    Can you share your chest & waist size in inches? That would be great help in understanding the sizing.
    I have the non padded and i totally agree with the zipper. haha... i can't never it it going quickly. BUT! having two zipper is extremely useful to venting.
    I am not sure of padded design but non padded generally have longer sleeve, which is great for people who want/need that sort of design.

    • @181Days
      @181Days  Год назад +1

      I agree! I really like the second zipper for venting...I'm just bad at using it 😂. How do you like the unpadded one? My chest is about a 37-39, waist is 32 (US)

    • @xxgg
      @xxgg Год назад +1

      @@181Days Its my everyday jacket for anything other than warm weather. Because I prefer to layer than to wear a big bulk for cold weather, I use it as a outer shell too.
      Skogso is slightly not slim but fitting fit. My waist is 34", chest about 40". Medium would have been a better fit for me regardless of their sizing chart but waist is snug with layers. But that is where opening the zipper from bottom and using button to hold works great. Also skogso have longer sleeve than other models.
      Jacket is basically a single layer and when you see the inside you will likely say "this jacket is over priced!". Than again fjallraven is high priced clothing. That is why I bought mine during sale, which seems to happen less frequent than before. Especially their end of season sale.
      As for you, depending on how you like to layer under or how you like the fit to be, even small will likely work for you.
