- How to wax a padded jacket from Fjallraven. Today we give the Kiruna Padded Parka a fresh coat of Greenland wax. This jacket is in the "dusk" blue colour. Padded jackets such as the G-Loft require a gentle approach so as not to compress any of the insulation. Using a blow dryer, melts the wax without having to apply pressure.

good job thank you
Hi there, thanx for your video. I did what you did on my Carhartt jacket with an Otter Wax bar. The thing is my jacket feels very sticky/greasy to the the touch now. Any tips on how top help with that issue? Thanx!
I’ve never used otter wax before, it might be a different ingredient base than Greenland wax. Otter wax looks like they use some oils in their mix, perhaps let it cure in a warm room so it has time to sink in to the canvas?
Or maybe it needs re heating with for deeper application? I’m only guessing though.
Thanks for watching. I might have to try otter wax on some other jackets I have… let me know how it is?
Most parts you did okay, but there are some pretty bad parts too. For instance your left chest area now has an ugly dark stripe on it. I know, because I have a hard time trying to make it look really good without stripes and spots…
If there’s a stripe there’s too much wax, or it went on unevenly because of a button or something under it.
Try a metal canteen water bottle with warm water, and a napkin. Place the napkin on the jacket and the warm bottle on the napkin, it will lift any excess wax out with a blotting motion.
Lighter colour g1000 shows these the most. We did one in buckwheat brown, it shows a lot, but, in time it does even out I found.
Hope that helps…
What a faff!…great jackets but for the money goretex is easier to live with! 🙄👍
Goretex fails in about 5-7 years. For the cost of a Goretex jacket, it’s hard to justify purchasing one for me, knowing how fragile it is as a material. I’d rather have something more rugged, even if it requires a couple hours of care every few years to keep it working well.
@@fraserlaidlaw7358 horses for courses pal…I have used milsurp goretex jackets for years…cheap as chips, tough, lasts for years and easy to replace
