A: the sealer is applied first so that the grout doesn't stick to the pebbles. Otherwise your stones have a hazy film on them. You can apply sealant afterwards as suggested however the grout she used is a one-step grout with sealant in it.
You Rock! this encourages me to try this in my small bathroom renovation, which I will be doing myself. This will be added to my list of researched materials. Very unique! Thank you!
Obviously, this is a brief how-to that moves quickly through what is in fact a lengthy process. Understanding that, I recommend this video as it helped me tremendously in my pebble-tile installation. I built an entire custom shower using very small (less than 1") pebble tile in order to work with the irregular contours of the space, and it worked fabulously well. I used a Goof Proof Shower Pan Kit from Mark E Industries as well. Also highly recommended.
@wush786 .....Use a long nap roller, they come in sizes up to 36mm nap which should reach the voids between the pebbles. I have used this method on raked brickwork and it does work, but remember always keep the roller loaded meaning dont go too far between dipping the roller in the paint, otherwise you will be pushing hard to fill the voids.
stupid question: Why do you need safety glasses while spreading thin set? Great video by the way - I'm doing a mosaic tile in front of the fireplace and found this video very helpful.
With a natural stone product, you want to seal before you grout, so the grout can be easier cleaned off the surface, it can save you alot of time later.
girl where did you get all those rocks? or pebbles? i went to Brighton Beach England once the beach was full of rocks. I guess if one lives near a beach they could procure a bunch of rocks for this design.. if not i guess they have to buy someplace like 99 cents store. or WHERE
You can go to Lowe's, Home Depot or any type of home improvement store to find the pebble tile. They have all sorts of colors and designs. So there's no worry about going to a beach and picking individual rocks out. =)
@danielwormald Another question from a newbie: how do you polish the river rocks? can you tumble them or is a dremel better? If so how do you do this? also are you using the enhancing sealer - I tried SurfaceGard sealer (water based) on marble and some other random common stones (mosaic) and the stones look like they did in the package. :) glad to meet an experienced tiler.
Is there a list of supplies that are used in the video? There's so many different types of thin sets and other things. But she doesn't specify which ones in the video.
This gal did a good job but I doubt she did all the work. Two things...Before you grout any natural stone seal it 2 or 3 times AND you better be prepared for some serious scrubbing to remove all that grout..WOW...A lil camera editing made a pretty hard job look so easy!!!
I agree with you on the grout removal process and the editing. The stone looked beautiful on the wall but after all of that work, I would go another route for décor. Wainscoting would be a choice for me.
It's mortar and mesh with clinger pebbles. It's not rocket science. Cut the mesh as you desire with scissors then use loose pebbles to cover the holes. You never actually have to cut the pebbles. Then grout it and wash it off after 20 minutes.
Lincoln David we checked a couple of the products and they didn't reference this installation method. Take a close look at the the installation specifics for the tile you plan to use to avoid issues. Also if you plan on installing in a wet area be sure to choose a tile that is suited for those applications. Thanks for watching.
I'm trying to do this style of mosaic for my fireplace put I can't find the mesh cloth backing anywhere. Does anyone know who carries this product? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Me gustó como se ve antes de ponerle el cemento o como se llame deberían de poner subtítulos en español para saber como se llama el material q le pone al último
well obviously.....like theyre going to tell you their products are hard to use and install these videos arent meant to be a comprehensive guide with all the steps exhaustively, they are meant to be an ad with some ideas and a quick debrief on how to do it
Love the look of the Pebbles before the grout mixture went on ♡ Good Job ♡
pamela creel I was wondering if I was the only one that liked it without grout
@@butterflyforeve you can get that look by hand setting the pebbles one by one

Keith Chicquen ... RUclips expert alert .
@@davidmurphy8480 I think it’s just good advise...
So, she did nothing wrong if sealant is in the grout. 😵💫😳
What sealant did she use?
Thank you so much for this insightful video, never could have accomplished it without you.
WOW! The wall looks stunning! It’s a wonderful decor idea for changing the look of the bathroom! Thanks for the video.
that bathroom is an enchantment of beauty

I would have liked to have seen how the trim was installed as well. Looks great!
James Hooper rubber cement
I like the pebble look without the grout.
Save the $45 for the aquaseal. You can go right to the sheetrock with the mastic thinset.
You and your environment over there look like a Bree Van De Kamp from Desperate Housewives :)) I love it! Good job!
I’m doing this in my kitchen. Thank you for the tips!
Very well done Andrea... I like it!
Great job, we girls can do it our selves. Very liberating.
wow, lowes in HD? its about time!

I like natural wood window trim, door molding and baseboards.

Wow how styles have changed, I think very few people today would choose to do this.
Very nice project, very encouraging because a woman can make great project like men.
pebble wall in bathroom ... not that crazy about it but it looks good and she done a good job..
I wish she would have shown the bottle of sealant or listed it.

For the top half above the trim, install grasscloth wallpaper and it will look wayyy better
I love it! Thank you for the clear explanation!

great job. i like it. :-)
Very cool look. I hadn't seen this before, but I really like it. Too bad we just finished our bathroom remodel :(
I want to do this to my Bathroom, ;) It looks great!
How do you think that would do on a shower floor? The rocks look really uneven. Wondering if it would hurt your feet?
its a job, but beautiful....fantastic look in the bathroom, and cool... they are pebble tile.
If you cover painted surfaces without sanding/grinding back to create a 'Key', you risk the whole tile delaminating. But uyou do it your way, Jose.
One sheet on and then its all done she's amazing I
Love the sarcasm...lol....She was so rubbish...

Wish she would have shown how she dealt with those outside corners.
amazing pebbles
Amazing👍👍
fantastic job!!!!
Looked much better before the grout.
So cute!

What's the best way to attach a wood molding like that to the wall? long nails through the front into the studs, or kreg jig from underneath perhaps?
The most common method would be to attach it to studs with a nail gun, then caulk the holes. Thanks for watching!

It looks so.much better without the growt...
wow. A LOT OF WORK but well done !!
Beautiful.
TOP Pebble Tile Quality
Where is this waterproof sealant? I can’t find it anywhere.
Can you use this idea for outdoor use?
Very nice Amazing

Anyone know what kind of hardwood floor that is? Its beautiful
Nice, very nice!
Do the pebbles come on the mesh ? Are they bought at Lowes ?
Yes, most of them do! Here's several pebble tile options: low.es/2tTDnFP
Can you do this over tiles on fireplace
I think the place is Diego Garcia island.
I love it

Good idea but I guess the walls should be painted another color (more beige to brownish) to give the be more classy
Thank you for sharing
Looks nice - too bad the plug in doesn't match the wall switches though...

yes definitely...eye protection.
protect those eyes...those beautiful eyes.
Really nice, thanks for the video. Can this be installed without grouting if I use a all-in-one thin set and grout product?
Lincoln David we checked a couple of the products and they didn't reference this installation method. Take a close look at the the installation specifics for the tile you plan to use to avoid issues. Lowe's Home Improvement thank you very much
Call me crazy, but I put the sealer on AFTER the grout.
How did you do the corners?
Why do you need the waterproof sealer behind the Pebbles? This is not in a shower.
It looks good now, but imagine a few years from now when you have to re-grout all those goddamn pebbles.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to remove pebble mosaic from a wall?
It's look amazing
oh sweet. thank you so much.
I'm trying to do this style of mosaic for my fireplace put I can't find the mesh cloth backing anywhere. Does anyone know who carries this product? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

which sealant to use ?
I don't understand why there needs to be a coat of acrylic sealant on polished rocks.
do you have memory foam pillows?
Clorox Bleach هل يوجد ترميم السقف
Wow you left a lot of grout on that wall. The rocks weren't even cleaned completely
The stones look better without the grout.
That be way better on the floor be like a foot massage lol

cikuuzis they come like that like mosaic tiles
Alot of time and patience 😂
How to install goth water tankless
Make sure to sell the house BEFORE re-grouting becomes necessary!
well obviously.....like theyre going to tell you their products are hard to use and install

wow, exelent,....
You guys can experiment on my house any time! Let's make a deal 😊
tHAT IS GONNA BE A MAINTENANCE NIGHTMARE.
Well, if I did that to my bathroom, I'd add a drain in center of bathroom, tile the floor, then hose the whole sucker down to clean. Done!
