Thanks Dan, nice review. But when was the last time that any reviewer would come out and say "Boy, these are just aweful to hit!" I think the reason more than anything quite simply is that there are no aweful clubs nowadays anymore. They are all good, and the art is to find what is good for each one of us.

Hasn’t really been a bad club now for as long as I remember. Like you say it’s about finding your own feels and wants. One foot note, there are some bad samples and when I get them I tell the manufacturer straight away. Haha not sure some realise this 😉😉

I game the blueprint irons and they are one of the best blades I’ve ever hit. The spin out of wet play is unbelievable, the hydro pearl really works!

notformebeaky so just because you don’t like the use of that word in that way means the rest of the world has to stop using it now? Get over yourself there bud.

    • @jlash259
      @jlash259 5 лет назад

notformebeaky @8:38 Dan uses it. And I believe he went to college and got his degree so he’s educated. I’m sure Crossfield and coach say it. I use it, Our friend Mr. Brooks used it. I’ve heard other youtubers and plenty of other golfers use it. I play with a Doctor who says it. I’d say he’s pretty educated, wouldn’t you? But hey I guess your world doesn’t include us common folk.

I just picked up the MB 718 - tried out literally every brand possible and it came down to the i500, mb, tmb and srixon. Just felt the MB was softer and cleaner when i was hitting but the others were also very nice. This is my first new set in 30 years as i started playing again more regularly. Really looking forward to playing more with the MB. I couldn't try the Blueprint as they weren't available but they also look very nice.
Great comparison as well - really enjoying the channel content! Makes me miss the UK! Keep up the good work!

I know no one cares but I’m going to share anyway since this video is titleist vs Ping. I just traded in my AP3s for the i210. I can’t believe how much better I hit the i210 pings. The ball flight and distance are way more consistent. The sound and feel are way softer for the Pings. And not sure why, but I hit out of the middle of the club face way more consistently with the pings. FYI. I was fitted for both. I know, cool story bruh.

Titleist 718 MB iron is the best iron I have tested and is currently in my bag. I have tested Taylormade P730, Mizuno MP18, Callaway Apex blade, Ping iBlade, and the Titleist 718 MB. By far the best for feel, look, sound and playability for me. I have total control and more importantly confidence when swinging my 718MBs. The blades is a blade is a blade. Nothing else they are awesome because it comes down to looks and feel and like Mark said it before, " you get out what you put into them. No wingy dingy's"

Thanks for this video! Interesting how so much talk of "very few people should hit the Blueprints" yet most every manufacturer continues to produce blades.
I bought Blueprints (5-pw) to replace my magical Hogan Apex 99' blades. Almost wished i would have waited to side-by-side against the Titleist (and MP20) but every time I take a Blueprint in hand it brings me joy.

Compare the Blueprint to the new Titleist 620MB for offset, Dan. Justin Thomas said to love the 620MB for the very straight line down the shaft through the leading edge of the head. Thanks for your great review.

For anyone interested in just how much smaller the head is on the PING Blueprint vs. Mizuno MP20, Titleist blade, all other blades, etc. ... I was curious so I just went down to my local Club Champion fitting location and compared them all to the PING. The PING is maybe smaller overall by a millimeter in all directions. So it is negligible. I held them all side by side to the PING and in reality they all, even the PING, seem to have the same amount of surface area on the face. The toe of the PING is slightly more squared off toward the topline and it gives the impression that the toe to heel length is shorter than all the rest but I am guessing that if one measured from the back of the hosel at a right angle to the end of the toe it would be very close if not exactly the same length as all the others. Currently produced blades are significantly larger than blades of even the late 1980's and early 1990's. For example, if you compare any currently produced blades from any manufacturer, even Miura (they had a Miura MB 101 on the shelf so I made the same comparison), to a Ben Hogan Apex "Redline" model from 1988 or even the Apex "Redline Forged" model from 1992 (I have a set of each) the Hogan's heads are significantly smaller and easier to swing. I also have a set of Mizuno MP 14's and the 1-iron in that set is about the same size as the Hogan Apex "Redlines" (both models) and maybe even a tad smaller. I can guess why manufacturers have gradually made this change but in my opinion it is too bad for players that can notice the difference. The smaller headed, original blades of years gone by are much easier to maneuver. I also have a set of Bridgestone J15 MB irons and I would venture to guess that these are the smallest contemporary blades that have been produced in the last 30 years. I bought mine in 2015 and I think this might have been the last year that they made them. One more note on the Miura MB 101. This may be the shortest of all the current blades if one is measuring 90 degrees from the back of the hosel to the end of the toe but the problem with the Miura is that it is too high when measuring from the sole to the topline. I think this is what creates an optical illusion that gives one the impression that the length of the club is short. Again, by the looks of it even the MB 101 has the same face surface area as all the rest of the current blade models. I would like to see how small the Miura "Baby Blades" are compared to current model blades. I did a search to see if they are discontinued for good and found this post at golfwrx from August 1, 2021: "I'd sent a note to Miura asking about BB's. They told me they expect them to be on a 3 year release cycle. Though a firm date for next release not yet determined, but they are not discontinued." If I can find a set on eBay at a reasonable (hold your laughter, please.) I may pick them up but that will probably never happen.

The blueprint looks fantastic, hydro pearl works... watch TXG vid..(" most surprising wedge test we've done")...you'll be amazed at the results...but unfortunatley at $2500 cnd, they won't be in my bag for sometime..:-(

The Blueprints are a joy to hit. Soft as butter and the ball just keeps going straight and long. A bit scary at first when you put them behind the ball, but after about 5 balls your confidence swells with every hit. Very consistent.

Blueprint cavity = Dan free zone. I think they deliberately over torqued the screw in your demo iron
after seeing how you poked around the goop inside the i500.

    • @paulmyers8606

They are probably using Loctite or the same epoxy that holds the shaft. Either will make it very difficult to remove. Heat will melt the epoxy for easy removal.

Matt Baker go watch TXG they did the new glide 3.0 wedge review, which have the hydropearl as well it was an eye opener, lets just say i may buy a full set of new pings just because of the hydropearl, astonishing result if you play in wet conditions.

Dan & Mark, take a look at this video today from TXG in Toronto about the astounding effect of Ping's anti water finish and how it affects the ball's spin when water comes into play. Could be reason alone for everyone that plays in wet conditions to look at their new Glide 3 wedges and some of Ping's new irons - including these blades. ruclips.net/video/DadwGueS3Qg/видео.html

They could be using Loctite or Epoxy and it could be removed with a torch. But why mess with it. Seems to me that if you don't get it all the way back in, then it might screw up the swing weight.
