That's for sure. I've only found 2 aftermarket companies provide a generic lanyard with a couple of different size clips to attach to your vehicle. Still the fit is not the best haha, but beats oem prices

It would cost the car company 20 bucks to wire in an integrated code reader that just displayed the error code on the dashboard.
That'd be too convenient for the working masses! It's a shame haha

@rumorhasit407 my 95 Honda is OBD1 and exactly how I get my codes, have a video on the process too
They just want to send you to the dealer

Want you to spend the money unnecessarily and be dependent on the dealer!
Dont expect that loss lanyard on the new cap
