- BattleTech originated as a table-top game in 1984, and since then has spun off into several different game franchises. Then in 2018, we got this glorious turn-based tactical strategy game, created by the same person who helped design the original! Lead a mercenary band of MechWarriors through a stellar civil war, keep your crew alive (and paid), and hunt for that sweet, sweet Atlas. If you're familiar with the MechWarrior universe and you like tactical strategy games, this is a must-have.

"There's always a bigger fish... except the Atlas. Don't get much bigger than that." - Qui Gon Jinn, probably.
Happy May 4th everybody.
hmm there is megatonmechs mod 200 tons limits like the king crab mk 2 plus 100 tons vtol mech like macross lore marauder mk 3 which make combat mechanics much complex too much stuffs updated weekly make the loading a bitch long -.- and more than 100g of content make med-tier CPU work like a madhouse. Good luck and nice content be following your stream on HOI4 and CK3.
Oops almost forget Roguetech mod break the battletech limit drop instead of 4 mechs u can have a total 8 battlemechs and 4 vehicles or battlearmours units drop on the battlemap u can upgrade your ship for c-bills to increase those.
*Laughs in Marauder II*
Have to say congratulations to you and the miss on the birth of your heir. And I hope you will raise him to be a famous mechwarrior!
I would love to see a full series of Battletech! Maybe complete the campaign? :)
I beat the game twice. Would still love to see a Pravus series of this... and will prolly get the game installed again. 😂
Is this the first time Pravus plays a proper mech-game? I think it might be! Good!
PRAISE PRAVUS!
Need moar not-gundams
Battletech is one my favorite games of the last decade. Great combat, great use of lore, enough RP to immerse yourself in the setting, and a fantastic soundtrack with good enough visuals to carry the action.
Literally saw this in my notifications, as I closed them. Went: 'Pravus? BattleTech?! And came right here.
Same!
Bro same i just want back watching laickadaisy for the 100th time
18:34 "You can build entire lances of atlases"
Oh you mean a Steiner scout lance, Pravus?
The dream team.
What about 4 Kingcrabs and shredding anything 4 dual AC/20 salvos? 🤔
@@AzuraCodeUltimate2004The Comstar pain cast.
If you haven't you should take a look at the advanced 3062 mod. It moves the timeline forward to 3062 from 3025 adds alot of advanced tech opens up the map to the rest of the inner sphere and the pentagon worlds (the pentagon worlds are clan space) and gives you the ability to field 3 lances including tanks and battle armor
Pravus makes a BattleTech video, just as I'm returning to tabletop BT? Lord almighty, what a lucky coincidence!
All praise Pravus!
I had a coworker that told me the lore of the entire Battletech/Mechwarrior universe over an 8-hour work shift. I’d, uh, I’d love a full series of the game.
Yes! This is one of my favorite games ever! I love BTA 3062.
I’m playing that mod right now
A full campaign of this would be good.
Crazy how I was watching someone do a full playthrough of Battletech and now Pravus is playing it.
Praise Pravus!
This is an actual great game with great mods. This will be worth buying in 5 years and in 10 years still imo.
i would love to see a campaign run of this from you
If anyone wants more of Battle Tech/Mech Warrior franchise content, I highly recommend Baradul. I got really hooked on the franchise because of how well thought the lore and mechanic was. In MechWarrior Online, mech have different number of SRM laucher holes. Like let's say you only have 6 SRM holes, if you put SRM 6, all six rocket would fire at the same time, but you only have 2 SRM holes, the rocket would be fired in sets of 2.
A Pravus series on this would be amazing. Now I'm left wanting more, and I know there isn't any more, so I'm sad.
Great game and I have a few hours in it. My final lance was a "Steiner scout lance". The lightest Mech being 95 tons but they are still as fast initiativewise as mediums and thanks to Jump Jet somewhat mobile and flexible. And pretty much anything that gets spotted evaporates. All of them have of course full armour or close to it and enough heat sinks to handle most of their weapons.
Cyclops-CP-10-Z mainly for the Battlecomputer that gives bonus initiative. 6 M-Laser++. Get's a bit hot after a while.
The other Mechs are a bit situational but here's my favourites:
Annihilator with 4 Gauss++. 360 Alpha Damage and no heat.
Annihilator with 3 UAC/20. A bit short ranged and the 6 tons of ammunition don't last very long and it gets hot quickly but it's difficult to argue with 864 alpha damage.
Atlas II with 4 ER-PPC++. No ammunition issues and stays somewhat cool but "only" 280 alpha but still great at sniping heads or burning out center torsos of lighter Mechs.
Attlas II with 5 Snub-PPC. The shotgun approach. Stays surpringly cool despite 132 heat on alpha strike thanks to Heat Exchanger++ and lots of Double Heat Sinks. 425 alpha and the same for stability damage.
Stalker-3F with 4 LRM-15++. The lightest of the bunch and is only taken if I feel the need for artillery.
I've also experimented with the Bull Shark but didn't like it very much.
Check out Phantom Brigade if you haven't already. Very similar to this and released this year.
I absolutely love this game. It is awesome and amazingly an unknown gem. Thank you for giving it a little spotlight 🤗
The Battletech 3062 Mod bro! Oh my goodness, I don't normally play mods with games, but there is a major exemption I make for this game add tanks, artillery, battle armor, on company level gameplay and OMG the border gore, you get to legit help a faction take over the map.... *sigh* so good... Even allows you to play the main game, adds a cut mission, and the story makes so much more sense.
No, this is not a new game.....not a good one either. Actually it´s shit in codelines.
Strategy tip not shown in this but good for all who want to check it out.
Armor rotation.
Mechs have torso articulation, hence firing arcs. Pravus's shadowhawk took a lot of damage to one side. As such, can move to try and keep armor side facing the enemy mechs. So right side stripped of armor? Move so left side faces. Keep big guns and ammo from being exposed, etc.
So can move, keep vulnerable away, but can somewhat turn to shoot.
Always happy to see this great game get some coverage, even years after its release and especially before HBS' new release. Definitely excited for that (although I'd have loved another Shadowrun game or a Battletech 2).
Oh, man, how much i would like to see you playing the Battletech Advanced 3062 Mod. But i get why it is vanilla for a first timer on the channel.
You asking pravus to jumping in mod first without playing the vanilla is a quickest way to die
@@brandonvortex995 Maybe you should watch a video to the end before posting comments. In this Video Pravus has stated him playing this game for years now. Even showcasing an older save from a mid game run with higher classed mechs. You don't get that Atlas without having played vanilla BT enough for being able to cope with a modded game.
This dude is making his living with gaming.
He is a pro. Maybe you are underestimating him a fair bit.
@@der7tezwerg921 oh right My mistake on that
Steiner scout lance my beloved
While RogueTech and BTA3062 are great mods I personally found them a bit too involved (and slow to play). The BattleTech Extended was more arcade style (closer to vanilla) and less simulation but still more variety on mechs and weapons, and it made me play it through another time.
But other than the mechs, how cool is it to have a turn-based game without overwatch?
What i have really learned to love playing BTA is being able to keep light scoutmechs actually relevant and useable untill lategame. Thanks to the changes on the evasion system. I always found scoutmechs being basically useless in vanilla. Or the other mods with vanilla evasion that is.
@@der7tezwerg921 I agree, I think there is more detail in the equipment/mech design as well that adds interest, and if I had a better attention span I'd stick to BTA but it was just taking too long between my turns for what I enjoy. Its amazing work all the modders do and a great reminder to all designers that adding modding capability can increase the lifespan of your games immensely!
'Atlas is the king of the battlefield?' Marauder II would like to speak with you, Steiner.
Marauder II isn't in the game though. In the game the kings are Atlas II and Annihilator IMHO.
@@kaltaron1284 Huh. In my defense, I didn't get to 100t before switching to BTA/Roguetech.
@@taylorzuercher4764 Fair enough. I haven't played the mods so I don't know what's possible with them. Most alpha I could get out of a Mech in the base game was 864 with 3 UAC/20 in an Annihilator. Although 4 are possible that doens't leave you with enough tonnage for armour, heat sinks and jumpjets.
For a sniper I liked for 4 Gauss Cannons.
Normally I use your channel to find fun games, it's a bit wild seeing you play a game I'm already extremely familiar with for a change!
Assault mechs are awesome, but I will always rock my Marauder lance, such a strong mech.
Marauder, Grasshopper, Bull Shark, Archer. I'll take that lance over the Steiner Scouts anyday.
But, but, but,... I REALLY wanted to listen to Pravus ramble!!!
why would one want to play this over MW5???
I mean I know MW5 wasn't what the fansbase wanted but neither did we want this piece of shit... Its so bad that mosts still prefer MWO or nothing.
If you haven't, lookup Phantom Brigade by Brace Yourself Games. It's a similar game, but hybrid real-time and turn-based.
The constant camera hijacking is so obnoxious and infuriating. Wtf were they thinking?! Is there anyway to turn that off, or will I just have to accept the risk of seizures?
I don't think there's anything scarier in vanilla than accidentally walking into range of an SRM carrier. It takes a long time for 60 SRMs to finish firing, and generally the next thing you see is the poor victim explode!
Yeah, some of the carriers and other vehicles are really scary. Luckily most of them die quickly.
Random bit of trivia from someone who played the tabletop version of this back in the day. The company who made Battletech was called FASA. FASA stood for Freedonia Air and Space Administration. A Marx Brothers reference. You'll also see reporters trolling politicians with Freedonia now and again asking them what they think about Freedonia's aggression or whatever. That's your useless trivia of the day.
The reason I prefer Battletech/Mechwarrior... well, Mechs, over the Anime counterparts, are 'cause the former feels more like modern day Tanks that have evolved.
Wheras, your typical Anime are more like scaled up humans with fancy armor.
Pravus, You should check out Roguetech it's a amazing MOD that offers better tech, more salvage, and tons of variant mechs
Welcome to the Stompy Stomp show. have a good time showing your folks the word of our lord and savior Hunchback 4p.
I know this was probably a one off to prove to your discord community that this game was a thing, but since you seem to love doing tough as balls runs through games... What about an Ironman Hard run through Career Mode? Allow yourself some ease on the scale by leaving things on default for loot and pay, but set everything else as hard as you can make it.
As a loyal fan of yours for several months, I would more than enjoy spending the next few months watching you conquer this challenge. Even if you only played once a week and had one video upload on the slowest time table you can give yourself.
There are other Battletech RUclipsrs out there but I quite enjoy your style of commentary. It makes an otherwise technical game seem easy while enhancing the most fun elements of the story and/or gameplay
Take your time, I know you have a lot on your plate, but this is one game I have truly enjoyed for years.
now i dare you to play battletech mod Rogue tech or BTA3062 huge complete overhauls , with Rogue tech being the most insane and a bit crazy on how it runs . it has even a semi multiplayer map
praise pravus!
Pravus mecha is over played, mechs are the slower meater brothers that are actually down played, gundam and armored cores are mecha, mech warriors and wanzers for example are mechs. It is like comparing humvees and armored cars, they are close but completely differant once you look at every aspect, humvees are 'slightly' armored for fast response and armored cars are 'heavily' armored with more chonky parts like a pigger gun on average. Just sad there are not many good mech games as a mainstream, so i want to clarify... it just feels similar to the whole blending a small thing and a big thing (taboo) and undermining the severity of that taboo.
There is currently a Hunmblebundle out with 60 Battletech novels for $18
Don't forget to mention the fall of humanity happened literally because of a phone company.
I swear I'm not making this up.
Man, I loved mech assault and mech assault 2 soooo much. There asn't been a good mech game in so long in my opinions. Mech warrior 5 is fine but idk, It doesnt feel that nice to play.
If you're interested in the original board game there's a small channel called Alpha Strike We Play that lays out the game really well for beginners. www.youtube.com/@AlphaStrikeWePlay
I was really hoping this was going to be a modded playthrough :( maybe a battletech advance run?
"But of course you didn't click on this video to listen to me ramble" is incorrect, that's exactly what I did.
Pravus should play more democracy 4. i would love to see a hardest difficulty america run. day 181
I love this game been playing it since it cam e out. Plus I've been playing battletech since it came out, the board game and the role playing game.
I love me some good old BattleTech!
PRAISE PRAUVS!
Would like to challenge him with my Lance of Locust.
Or mine of all tricked out Firestarters, LOL...
@pravus , there is only 1 scout-lance and that is the Stiener scout lance, also why so much precission strike to chests and arms and no legging tis the better way to get salvage
“You didn’t click on this video to listen to me ramble”. Actually, yes we did.
Pravus u could start with roguetech mod which there is a big community online plus new stuffs for u to work with trust me
And sss in Mechwarriors lore there even is a very good reason why they even started with making battlemechs when they got nukes and space ships sss
what is the reason ? sss
geniva space convention to give battle rules that stop planet exterminations with nukes sss
and under the new battle rules the ground battles got more important and tech made mechs the best ground fighters sss
later on in the lore the cluster fucking killed most battleships so mechs stayed relavant thru out the centurys sss
Do a roguetech run. And hey, congrats again. When's the little one due?
A full series of this game
and perhaps Phantom Brigade too?
pravus why does your jager have it's lrm ammo in the center torso?
More
Oh feel free to ramble. I don't mind getting more of that sweet, sweet main menu theme.
Finally some battletech recognition
Please lord pravus
Grace us with a glorious mecha war
FREEBIRTHS! YOU SHALL FALL BEFORE THE MIGHT OF THE CLANS!
At first I read balltech and that spiked my attention
Did you try the mod roguetech? It gives so much more to the game.
i love this game but its still unstable as of 2023 07 13
How about a BTA3062 run Pravus?
Mechcommander that has a better graphics!!!
lol. XD a wellcome adition to the Video listing. :)
Yes, but what about more age of wonders instead?
Pls play an aow4 campaign
Praise pravus!!!
I have another mech game for you pravus, the game its mech engineer, a very hardcore real time mech , another UNDERRATED gem!
Potential unknown actually, i hope you give it a try!
You gotta check out the roguetech mod, it it insane.
cool video! I think I'll play this one.
Battletech is great, Roguetech is even better :D
Also of note there are a number of mods available. "Vanilla" mods are Hyades Rim, Battletech Extended and Battletech XAI. The other best known mods are far more extensive and make many changes to the game. Battletech Advanced and Rogue Tech (there are video tutorials on how to install these.. WATCH them first!). Rogue tech is semi cannon,, the rest are conon other then Hyades Rim which is a rewrite of the stock story. There are also a lot of "sub mods" that can allow you to tweak the game in a lot of ways. This is an awesomely good tactical game.
My first run of BT i did a 4 skull assasination misison, What i did not realize was that the assassination target was a freakign ATLAS which when it rolled ovver the hill caused me to shriek in terror and nearly pee myself. fortunately my headshot queen glitch landed an AC 20 hit from the orion she was in and BOOm free atlas
May the fourth be with you lord pravus
Battletech is my favorite tactical game, period. Tons of replayability, my average mercenary campaign can last 50 hrs + each time
As an old-time table top Mech Commander I appreciate guys like you showing this fantastic universe (albeit briefly) to a new generation. o7
I see you are definitely a man of Culture.
You should try out Mechabellum!
I love this game but I wish they would make a sequel set a few decades later. There isn't a single weight class where my favorite Mech was in production prior to the 3050s. There are lots of Mechs I like before then but I would love if they shifted the timeline enough for my favorites to be in use.
It's modding time
To people who want to play this again with a fresh coat of paint, I highly recommend the Hyades Rim mod
It makes a whole new campaign with a new story, its very interesting and can be quite challenging
You dare refuse my batchall!
In my game, I lost Behemoth while she was piloting my heaviest mech. Full health. While she was in trees. Just blew her head off with a barrage of those big rail guns on the first turn of engagement.
games in this universe are good. Wish they made new RTS MechCommander, miss that game. And I have this game and I like it a lot.
As a veteran of the 1980 game this was ok. I really miss the drop ships though.
Don't do a video. Do a LOT of videos!
0:55 Uhm, actually, that's exactly why I clicked on this video.
It's been five days, so I'm guessing this isn't a series. But wow would that be some good times.
The only game I have 200+ hrs logged on Steam, amazing game!!
Too bad you never did a playthrough of this, it's great.
I'm ashamed to say that I came into the BT universe a bit too late. It's awesome!
played it love it got repetitive
Mechassault is what got me into a lot of these mech games. A lot of the people I talk with have never heard of it.
Battletech? Oh my! What are your mechs for lance?
Pretty sure there's a mechanic that incentivizes blowing the legs off mechs with better salvage. That way you don't destroy the weapons. (killing the pilot works too)
You might be thinking of the Marauder, a heavy sniper mech. Gets huge bonuses for called shots, perfect for taking out the head or the center back torso and immediately killing the pilot. You can get three pieces of salvage that way.
Great Video!
A video made out of pure spite is the best video
