Fun fact: David's buddy James is played by Troy Baker, the original actor of Joel in the game. Kind of messed up that he's killed by the show version of Ellie. :D
@gleam6370 My guess is he's too young, and he's a relative unknown. Sure, anybody who's played a game or watched anime knows who he is, but the general public probably doesn't.
SAME. The first time James was weirded out by David's behavior on Ellie (Like giving her medicine out of the blue) my mom thought he wanted something from her. When David kept trying to keep Ellie alive, my mom asked me "Is he trying to make Ellie his girlfriend?", but my father was watching too and his reaction to my mom's question was like "NOO! SHE'S JUST A KID HOW COULD HE?!"
@@gray01216 Even if Ellie wasn't a kid it's not right, you should never force someone to be your girlfriend and David planned to rape her, not just being her boyfriend. And if it wasn't the case she would risk to die eaten by him so he was already sick even if it wasn't a child rapist.

But the show clickers and the show bloaters didn't get a say?! 🤭✌️ I love listening to the podcast, it is a great companion for the show! Have a great day!
Yeah cause first of all david had the keys and the doors were locked so there wasn’t a way for Joel to get in fast, and second, realistically she would’ve cut his face off he hugged her while she was in that state.. I think it was better that he served as an emotional support once she was in more of a shock than an extreme rage
That change was actually so good because, in the game, Joel just appeared in the diner and brought that to an abrupt end. Here we see Ellie REALLY lose herself in revenge which is warranted due to the circumstances but it also serves as foreshadowing too. The fact that she did that by herself showed what she’s capable of, but it also showed what she WILL do. Small ass tweak that made a world of difference, and I’m here for it
@@kaydollar2490 well Joel captured two men and beat them to death to get answers in less of 5 minutes meanwhile he was hurt so I guess he is pretty strong enough to open a door locked quickly especially if there is a window who could break and also the building is in fire with the adrenaline, you don't know what people are capable of when it's about save their life or save other lives.. and about the cut his face off, it's a 14 years old girl I am pretty sure he could have find the way to block her arms and stop her, just saying but honestly even if a game it's often unrealistic but TLOU has a lot of realistic parts in the game

@@TukaihaHithlec in the game, Ellie found her kill and didn’t clear the area before staking it, which is how David and James happened on her; in the show Ellie waits which is how she gets the drop on them

@@sexuallobster134679 she’s not out of breath, she’s got the drop on them, and had she only just gotten there as of the scene, David and James would have heard her; she waited until both of them slung their weapons
I think that after David's men shot the horse and were around Ellie, the one guy said "Do it." and James was going to shoot her because they knew what David was going to do with her, not for revenge. Almost like a mercy killing. That's why earlier James said they could just let her go instead of bringing her back with them
@Storm Akima, 28:38 HOLD UP! These guys weren't coming to check on Joel and give him a care package with a get well card. They were here to kill him. Period. And you can't forget that this fight started back at the university, and what were they trying to do there? Kill him! Joel was defending himself here, and fighting to get Ellie's whereabouts of them too. Yes, Joel was a bad man, we were told this. He was a raider that killed people to survive until he made it to the Boston QZ, and even then in the QZ he wasn't someone you messed with and we got this from Robert's fears and what Marlene hinted about Joel's character. Marlene wanted to leave the QZ with an army escorting Elly out, but she was fine with just Joel and Tess taking her out, and it wasn't because she was injured. She knew what Joel could and would do if things went south.
I think the reason they did it this was in the show was to show that Ellie could save herself and protect herself in desperate moments, that she didn't always need to be saved physically but she needed comfort and saving psychologically still.
That wasn't the only clue Though the word venison is deer, it is ALSO for elk, moose, caribou, antelope and pronghorn So when he asked James about "how much do we have left? Venison, ELK, rabbit" This was a CLUE that he wasn't using the word Venison like it should be used. It would be like saying, How much do we have? Beef, Cow, Chicken. Another clue: David told Ellie: "It's just deer, I promise". Not it's just venison, I promise This is a clue that he uses the word venison to mean human meat when he asks about their stocks. He uses deer meat and elk meat where venison would serve and doesn't.
Momma picked up on David quick, when you've dealt with guys like him, your senses quickly pick up on that immediately. He made my skin crawl with every word he was saying, cause you know he's bullshitting even if you haven't played the game, he felt off, TOOO nice...like some predators like to do, trust me. One of the best part of this game and seeing your reactions especially the moment Joel is back to Ellie means the world to me 🤍 For women who watch this story that must be a rollascoarters of feeling, they can feel all the insecurity with a evil man like David but then they feel all the protection with a good man like Joel Btw : David manipulating Ellie with the cordyceps doesn't look good at all hope it's not going to influence her choices later :/
There are risks of Joel going in the restaurant in the episode to console Ellie like the fire would have spread too much for Joel to go in or it was right for Joel to console outside cause maybe he did not get to her in time and Ellie had to kill David herself and get our there herself and l think she did it longer than the game and Joel not going in to have a bigger impact of Ellie losing herself after doing that to David and after what David was trying to do to Ellie the things he was saying to her
I hadn't thought of that, but that would indeed have been great. I was kind of expecting him to play the guy that Joel interrogates and kills. That would also have been sweet. Joel killing Joel.
I agree that this season could have been stretched out over 2 seasons. I have loved the show so far but it does feel a bit rushed and we miss out on the journey cross country and the fights and struggles to get through different cities and areas. In squishing it into one season we have also missed out on a lot of the infected fights, it seems like there is not enough infected in the show. That being said its still a great show.
That would make it boring because the series is not about the infected, is about the people and the struggle after 20 years of the same s*it. It's the story of a broken man and a lonely little girl. If they would focus on the infected it would became just another zombie story. Watch Black Summer, it's similar in many ways and although it has more infected, it's still focusing on the people doing harm to each other instead of helping each other. That's the whole point.
