People with osteoarthritis should NOT do kettlebells period, as they are very taxing on the body and can cause serious injury if not done properly. There are way too many hacks on yt who are self-proclaimed experts.
There are various ways of lunging , I have grade 4 arthritis in both knees but I modify back lunges , no way can I do forwards and the biggest thing is to hinge from the hip as in a squat not keep back straight , less shearing force on the knee and the butt works harder x

There are plenty of women over 50 that wouldn't risk the knee injury that can come from lunges. My search continues.
