HAS MY NATURAL HAIR TEXTURE CHANGED??? (10 Months Post BIG CHOP)

  • So have I noticed a change in my natural hair texture since going natural? Well in some ways yes, but I believe that to be due to 2 things; The Hair Products I use on my hair and the length of my hair. So for example, when my hairs in it’s natural state (without much hair products) there’s very little definition, however, when I use hair gels or curling creams, I notice my curl definition a lot more. Now when it comes to hair length, after I big chopped and my hair was really short, my coils, kinks, curls were very tight and defined. But now that my hair has grown, I’ve noticed my coils appear to be slightly looser, especially when it’s stretched out.
Another thing I forgot to mention. I also feel that certain products create different looks. For example, if I use heavy hair gels, my hair is weighed down more resulting in looser curls, but if it's a lighter gel, it's more tighter.

when your hair starts growing longer gravity will act on them and they'll become looser, that's what's happened to me.

Yep, that’s the word I was looking for ‘Gravity’ 👍🏾

I have also found that constant deep conditioning "changes" the texture. It makes the hair more moisturised, less frizzy and gives hang time to even the shortest crop. Since I started deep conditioning every week i have noticed a huge difference in my texture. Great video.

Thank you! Yes, once we learn how to properly manage our hair and give it the nurturing it needs, it really thrives.

So guys, this weeks requested video is all about natural hair texture changes and whether I’ve noticed a difference in my hair texture since doing the big chop. Let me know if you have any questions and also feel free to share your own experiences too! 😊

I think that when u go natural and as ur hair gets healthy u will actually find out what ur actual texture is! I don't think its any illusion or anything like that, u just haven't probably seen it in it's natural state in a long time.

Yeah, I was too young to remember my natural hair texture. But I guess that’s another way of looking at it.

Healthy Afro Hair my go to hairstyle doesnt actually have a name haha. Brushed up as if doing a high puff but then tuck n roll 'the puff' in two sections and pin it away.
Love to do wash n go's but as hair has gotten longer i find it hard to preserve the style for even 2/3 days. :s

Stephy momo Go natural !!! It's worth it. I'm currently 20 months post relaxer (I'm transitioning) and i would never use a relaxer again.

Depends on how old you are and who pays for your hair styling. Your mom may not be able to afford to pay the extra cost for taking proper care of natural hair. Do not make that decision unless YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF IT PROPERLY & CONSISTENTLY YOURSELF, AFFORD SAFE PROTECTIVE STYLING (Weave, wigs, braids), & AFFORD THE PRODUCTS NEEDED TO CARE FOR NATURAL HAIR (they are not cheap).

I don’t know your age, so don’t really want to advise you to go against your Mothers will. However, if you’re in a position where you’re old enough to make your own decisions, then I’d say go for it. Many people have friends and family who don’t approve of them going natural or who are not supportive. But you have to put yourself first and do whatever makes you happy.
