Fallen actually talked about this kind of situatuion in a recent livestream (about a week ago, I believe). He basically said that in his opinion the other teammates shouldn't question or criticize the IGL during the game. After it's over it's fine and it's actually a good thing. Criticism is always welcome, etc. But during the game it can be detrimental to the team's performance and might only make the IGL's job harder because now he's second guessing himself.
Considering that he talked about that kind of situation a few days prior to this game, seeing how things went down, and also taking into account the many things that keep being said about the problems the team faced, I believe that this type of thing must have happened very frequently this past year.
I don't think about it in terms of "toxic vs non toxic", but rather in terms of "productive vs counterproductive" in the conext of the game. And it varies. To some teams it might be business as usual and not a big deal, to others it might be unacceptable. To Fallen, the team's IGL, its clearly counterproductive, and considering that Stewie probably knows that very well (given that he worked alongside Fallen for quite some time) I think it was rather unprofessional and childish of him to just blow up like that knowing that it wouldn't be well recieved and likely compromise his teammate's performance.
He said that he was just being honest and all, but being a professional sometimes means that you'll have to adjust to the necessities of the team, and its pretty clear that in TL this kind of harsh input made while the game is being played doesn't really help. So yeah, its not "toxic" per se, but in my opinion it was the wrong thing to do, regardless of the merit of the play itself.

IMO this is different from questioning the IGL, as it's questioning Fallen the player, not Fallen the caller. It's not that Fallen made a call and stewie disagreed, it's that Fallen didn't instantly know the right play and make it in a split second, when it's what Stewie wanted.
In a live match, this is not something you want to see. Usually you hold this in and save it for VOD review. With that being said, Liquid's success at the end of their run was partly due to them taking the game a bit less seriously and playing a bit more loose. I would say that this is something that can come with that territory.
Again: optimally, he doesn't say this. It doesn't really add much to the current game, and you can save it for later. Realistically, this might happen once in a while even in the most coordinated and respectful teams. sometimes the emotion comes out and you say it when you shouldn't, because in a scrim or in a pug it's actually somewhat productive - you can pause and get it out of the way, with both of you having a better understanding of your teammates.
you can't know how these usually go though. did stewie say something afterwards? is this like a trigger of some sort for fallen because USUALLY stewie goes way further? we can't know. My main gripe is with the reddit take that I was seeing which is that this clip was 1- something stewie could've communicated (i don't think there was time for anything other than just playing off instinct) and 2- super duper toxic.

I get what you're saying and Its a fair point. At the end of the day I think the main thing is that this situation only goes to show that these guys werent working well together and It really wasnt meant to be. I wish them both the best in the Future.

This isn’t criticism of the IGL? Criticism of the IGL is when you question the strategies are express distaste in the tactics and calls. This is literally basic counter strike micro play. The low guy swings so the full hp guy can trade. 101 shit

Nothing is wrong here, it's just the game sense, every player has his own perception. But the toxicity is not the right way to deal with things... he was rude and we should not deny that
This is not pug also, these are pro players, respect should be N°1 priority, all the CS community is watching including 14 year old kids

Everyone defending Fallen but in fact Fallen has been playing worse than Stew since he entered the team.
One mistake doesn't justify the other one. Get a grip.
FalleN has actually been playing above expectations after the disastrous SK exit + he is the IGL that managed to bring some leadership that TL desperately needed before he joined.

I'm not sure why you keep mentioning pugs, when this is completely different. Maybe in a pug context this is more reasonable but in a team environment, especially in a t1 tournament on stage, is completely unprofessional. Seems to be a running thing with stewie, acting and making unprofessional comments about his teammates and especially grim.
Dude, he it's mentioning pugs because they all play pugs a lot. Like a lot. I don't blame stewie for being pissed. It's good to say wtf are you doing. Like what are we doing? It's good to be frustrated. It's a reasonable response. The team morale shouldn't go down from it. You have to let out your emotions to play your best

Navi would check ramp automatically as they did in the play. Stew could've went long, but the bait and switch wouldve been much better for Fallen to go out and stew bait him. That's what stew was thinking because it's the best choice

I think actually the problem is talking to a teamate/IGL like that.
A pro player shouldn't get tilted like that with so many rounds ahead to play.
I don't think that's tilt it's more like a super light version of releasing a bit of steam. In scrims with competitive teams this type of reaction is pretty common. you pause, talk it over and move on with a better understanding. some people can be a bit more chill with it, but with no extra baggage around the players/team, this is a non-issue that i've seen hundreds of times.

Lmao, the big deal was that stew stayed mad for the entire game ignoring Fallen, there were a couple of post rounds fallen looking at stew and even tried to fist bump with him, but was completely ignored, that was so awkward to watch, and it was only stew, naf and the others looked like they were trying to have at least fun since it is the last tournament, idk about elige since the camera didnt show much of him during post rounds, idk if its a big deal or not but at least it shouldnt be, and it was so ugly to watch the pissed off face stewie2k even if i was rooting for navi
actually where electronic was was also where Hobbit was vs Zywoo and Apex when zywoo got that deagle ace. Both were ramp and Hobbit almost close to where electronic was.
in fact i thought stew was gonna do something like jump on those boxes while fallen peeks electronic to kill electronic like how zywoo and apex handled that situation.
you can actually see the night and day difference between 2 dead teams in how they handled almost the same situation

The confusion is understandable, but a tier1 team can't have a player with that attitude, specially towards an IGL and specially during a professional game. Heck, even in a PUG I try to keep quiet even if I'm right. What good can a comment like this actually bring to the game? Nothing. But In a professional team, the right way to handle this situation is talking about it after the game, obviously.

i feel like i'm one of the most chill/least toxic players out there. i've just coached and IGLed for teams before so I've seen this hundreds of times. people don't typically take it personally unless it's a consistent long term thing and they take it further than stewie does here.
