We need leadership in the uk. Someone with a platform who can pull all the various groups together. This should include black politicians, the galaxy community and the small actions which are taking place. And link up with Africa to a focus for the lost children.
Akala is our generation's street scholar. He bridges the gap for those bourgeois activists to understand whats really going on at a grassroots level, whilst helping the grassroots level better understand historical constructs and sharper moves.
couldn't put it better. well read and articulate (and i don't mean that in the "he's so well spoken" sense, but in the ability to, without impediment, demonstrate raw intelligence through speech), he is the epitome of a leader, and highly convincing to the bourgeoisie that you mention. he reminds me of a malcolm x character, but less confrontational in his delivery and discussion
I’ve broken down the topics into timestamps for everyone: 0:30 - 8:00 Local antiracism protests and warnings Q/A ~ 9:20- 11:00 On going back to Africa 11:00 - 12:00 Investing in Black British businesses/Community self development 12:30 - 19:30 Teaching history in schools/Education reform and disparities 19:40 - 26:30 On “black on black crime” 26:40- 29:10 Social revolution possible? 29:50 - 34:45 On Black conservatives 35:00- 39:30 On reparations/Did Africans sell us into slavery? 39:40 - 41:30 On black leadership 41:40 to end Mandatory readings/Prison reform and rehabilitation etc
As a white guy in the North of England that left school without gcses or the ability to barely read and write. Thanks for the shout out pal👍 I feel lost sometimes in these times, I don't feel far right or left, And I thank you for your time. I watched a video of a Bob marley interview and he said it isn't about race or colour it's about progress. Well that was my take anyways!
This young man is currently one of the brightest minds to speak on racism. His understanding of the relevant issues is outstanding and we can all learn from him. I agree that this is the right time to 'cash in' on the opportunity to stamp out the scourge of racism once and for all if the strategy is correct. Any violence coming from the black community will be picked up by the right wing media and blown out of all proportion giving the racist white community ammunition to continue their propaganda of hate, division and prejudice. We must not play in to their hands. Another vote for visiting Senegal here, particularly the Casamance region in the south of the country. Those little hamlets by the beach, on the Atlantic coast, are delightful. The people, the culture, the food and the music are the perfect way to recuperate and I have been blessed to spend a couple of months here every winter for the last ten years leading a simple life. Well done Akala. Another outstanding contribution to educate us all. Sending love and solidarity.
Im a black person in America.I have known about you for years. And I am proud of the wisdom that you speak over there. It seems as if you are one of a few over there that havent given in to assimilation.Peace to you and continued blessings!
The battles we fight in the UK are unheard of. Here there are emotions which can be destroyed and emotions which have to be approved. That is assimilation at work.
Akala from myself and I'm sure the community we thank you for the wealth of knowledge you relayed to us on the live. Big love Kingslee, we need it every week!
I love this man - he has provided more education and much-needed perspective in his writings and talks than I ever received in school. My kids will be fed a diet of his work as soon as they are old enough to comprehend it - if society hasn't managed to make the necessary shifts in the next decade. Also he's a ridiculous rapper. Love from Liverpool.
'If you dont go to uni your parents will stop talking to you' 🤣🤣 this is very accurate. Telling my parents i was taking a gap year is like i was ruining my life
@@asweproceed52 Haha If self-hating means being honest and wanting freedom for all races with spreading the truth with love and mutual respect then it is what it is 😅 I feel sorry for people like you who can’t see the objective reality and only see things in your lense of subjective reality and group mentality.

I think the way Akala educates is honestly inspiring. It is a massive failure of public discourse that his voice and ones like it are so marginalized. I really appreciate how he has different forms of credibility and knowledge and talent available to it and that makes him so mighty. Much love from the Netherlands, taking your words to heart.
Very good conversation. Absolutely loving the progressive nature of his chat! Only way to solve this is thinking forward with brainstorming on practical solutions. It’s the only way. Statues and blah blah is counter productive. Let’s get our heads together and fix this
So many people from my generation need to hear this, intelligent, informed, non judgemental opinion. I cannot ever know how it feels to be racially disenfranchised however I know how it feels to be from a poor working class background. My man paints a picture since I first heard Shakespeare till day, it's a race thing first, a class thing second but it's a thing #BLM
Thanks for doing what you do man. Have been hooked ever since the sbtv and fire in the booth videos. I love your book as well , and would love more content like this or even a podcast. Thanks again

A lot of what Akala has spoken on about his views, I've been saying but I just don't have the platform. You have to approach without ego and deliver impartial, unfiltered truth. Appreciate this 🙏🏾
Akala I am so grateful for you. You constantly educate me and help me articulate challenging and difficult conversations that i have with my peers. Thankyou
Great balanced approach, it about Communication and Community. It's not about the haters and the hate, it's about real people that have real needs wether they are black or white. we have a huge hill to climb and we will do t together. goodman
I remember listening to your first track n now look how far you have become, big respect bro. I was born and bred in brick lane and I know how my parents, grandparents were treated way back in brick lane. In my opinion I think everyone should go on Saturday but have a peaceful protest, none of this crazy BS that we are seeing lately! No point having a protest on the “endz” as no one gets heard in the ENDZ! All they get is stop n search! ✋ it’s a good time and way to bring the black community together, stronger and maybe have a chance to fix relationships within the black community itself e.g gang wars, knife crime etc...
If you live near Bedford I have many books giving away as sadly my son passed away natural causes, while doing his. Doctorate, I’m old now and no family here uk to pass them on to. Anyone who is interested in math, quantum math, physics, chemistry, science and technology, humanities and more, let me know if interested.
Get Akala on the Sam Harris podcast. That would be a great conversation! There would be middle ground but where they disagree would be a great, nuanced discussion from two calm intellects.

Your comment about white working class kids being ashamed of being clever rings so true. I went to a school which was rated the worst in the borough and most of the kids there were from v poor backgrounds. If you were put in top sets, you were basically bullied - it was cool to bunk off/start fights/do nothing. In fact, when my area had an influx of children from Somalia in the late 90s, the GCSE results for that school actually improved despite the kids having only been in the country for x amount of years. Really loved your book by the way, it has inspired me to read more books on geopolitics and economics so thank you!

i love your passion for knowledge and history, i like how you answered the notion that Africans sold Africans into slavery as too generalised, also linking the Caribbean rebellions too with slave resistance fought on the main land-Thank you
For every white person that 'bought' a slave; there was a black person 'selling' that slave in Africa. Europeans did not leave the shorelines in Africa; they stayed in trading posts. The only reason we don't know who the slave-owners and traders were in Africa was because they'd barely learned to write, let alone keep financial records (or sail boats or make maps or cure meat) by the time the Europeans arrived....
Good point about the movement to Africa: money remittances to sub-Saharan Africa from the Diaspora is said to exceed Foreign Aid to the region by a huge factor, and astoundingly, Nigerian Diaspora remittances home is also said to exceed even the lucrative Oil & Gas revenues of the country! If true, that should continue for the time being.
As a long time fan, i urge you too start a podcast! Your voice on UK issues and general wisdom is much needed - and it feels that the media can only take small doses!

He is a modern day intellectual. Like a proto-Chomsky
Yes his calm is very needed is these times, when there’s so much tension in the air, we’re at boiling point. That opening statement was perfect
He bridges the gaps. Smart enough to educate laymen and precise enough to guide the intellectuals.
