@Dr Professor how is that racist? You have no idea who i call my brothers. I think you also need to look up what racist actually means my brother.bless up
@UCBig6XbLSvDDBeQoHg4IyNw course you could be...not sure why i am a racist for calling someone my brother...you do know Akala is of mixed heritage? Beside i use that term for everyone.
I wish more teachers were like him. Education is power. School is hugely important - stick with it - never quit - this is a game we are all in, play to win - education brings opportunity and YOU have as much right to that as anyone else of privilege. But education is MORE than school and it does not end when school ends. Keep learning, challenge your beliefs, always ask questions - those who can’t or won’t answer you are of no use. Read widely, join your public library, tell the librarians what you are interested in and they will set you right. Be careful of the internet - it’s full of mistruths that are easy to slip into. Arm yourself by becoming Information Literate, learn about information literacy, learn to navigate the inaccurate by learning about citations, evidence and cognitive dissonance and how we form opinions - there are traps in your head too. - Again, your librarian will help you there.Travel and meet and experience different cultures and people. You will soon see we are all one and the divisions come from falsehoods, spread and propagated bypeople who you can be sure do not have library cards!
Everything Akala is saying about education and the many different ways in which we can all learn is so important and 100% correct. I found the formal education system so difficult to continue learning from after I received the fundamental basics. I would really recommend a book called, FRAMES OF MIND, the theory of multiple Intelligences, by Howard Gardner. It really explains what Akala is touching on hear with this clip. Thank you for all the knowledge you pass on Akala, very much appreciated mate. 👌
I have come to a conclusion, " Fill the largest room you can find with diamonds and it will be of no value in comparison to the wealth of wisdom". B. Peace and Thank you.
The only useful things i learnt in school was maths, and that authority equals corruption, power equals abuse. I learnt everything else from books, and human interactions whilst travelling and working abroad
Akala is great with his eloquence. On top of that this video is well edited with engaging b-roll. I really like the insight of their are multiple ways to view the world. Overall, very impressive content
In such a strange year you are one of the few people I pay attention to. The UK is now in it's worst ever recession after suffering the highest virus death rate in Europe, with mass redundancies and schools may not reopen. Keep educating us bro.
My folks named me after Jimi Hendrix :)))) I feel like that kinda set me up for success. I read Black and British at your suggestion in the last videos. It's really good! Books like that should be on the curriculum I think. I'm really enjoying your videos.
Thanks for the new video Akala. You are blessing me with your words and insights. I would love to see/hear an interview (short series) between yourself and Trevor Noah about the current state of the African Diaspora and any practical ways forward collectively/individuality.
Always INSPIRATIONAL Akala✊🏾. You are on point an inspiration to my 11 year old son & even to myself bro👍🏾. Love how you connect to the youths. We need more of this💪🏾👊🏾
Putting this on repeat, thank you for reminding me how rich and cultured my upbringing actually was. Would you please (if you haven’t already) talk some more about Toussaint l’Ouverture? And in a separate question, will you speak to the nature of shame? I know its meant to keep one in their place long after the shame-giver is gone. What are some ways to rid it from your own head? If I could give one gift to the future, it would be how to put shame in its proper place, including the gifts it gives, if there are any. Thank you, sir.
Interesting point. Shame is indeed used to keep people in their place. It's only if we alleviate poverty can we eradicate shame, and let people do what they want to do, as long as they are not hurting anybody.
Akala I am considering organising Saturday school for my kids and others in Liverpool. Could you point me in the direction of those schools in london so I can connect with them. Many thanks, Enyo
Hi, this is a great idea. Perhaps try contacting www.descendants.org.uk based in west London or reach out to www.nabss.org.uk who are the National Association or Black Supplementary Schools - you may have thought of this already, but I hope this helps. Best wishes and God bless
Master Akala. Please have a virtual dojo 🙏🙏🙏🙏 I am anyways working towards getting trained by you. But it would be much faster if you have a special school. 🧠🍀💚
Thankyou Akala, for truly taking the time to educate, inspire & support the youngers and grown alike the way a wise big brother would.. mad appreciated, and in this crazy existence where bestowing empowering worldly wisdom is desperately needed but also unrelenting exhausting bidness, you taking up that mantle aint no small thing
Hey Akala! Long time fan! Man your football coach definitely dropped a gem! I wish I would have known that growing up....running after my raggedy friends! Can’t wait for a new album, we definitely need it from you 👊🏿
Akala I have long held an idea to create a fun learning app that brings together the best minds to deconstruct and explain educational and historical lessons using music, graphics animation and video. I wonder if I could please speak to you more about that?
Brilliant insite, that if all young people listened to this, a high percentage would do better than if they didn't, especially coming from an acclaimed person, as you are. Thank you
We should not rely on the state system providing the level of education we need as people of colour. Look to the Indian people, in all their manifestations, their kids go Saturday school, and it isn't all about religion, I'm sure other cultural and historical teachings will make up the learning.
I have heard your name a few times this year and this video popped up in my feed...Great content,i'll be watching a few other videos. Keep up the good work!
Theatre with an F ---- luv it....x ...UK is full of informal educators who are true heroes (we don't need no heroes --- Roni Size). Most of them kept their own politics and sexuality private. Many paid their dues in community studios.

It's a shame not more teachers realise this!
I couldn't learn in an indoctrination environment of the school - I did that learning bit after school.
