Great video, very informative- thanks for sharing - I had a Frank’s family a few you months ago while having dinner with some friends - interesting to see so many different wines
2013 and 2016 are great C.S. vintages in Napa. I See some heavy hitters there. Groth Reserve, Frank Family Reserve, Turnbull, Shafer 1.5, Hourglass Blueline. Loved the video! I would add Chappellet Signature Cabernet Sauvignon white Label to this grouping.
Great video! I stacked up big time on the 2016. 2017 is definitely iffy, but there are some good ones out there. I just bought 4 bottles of 2017 Frog's Leap cab for $37 a bottle. That is an insane price for those, so i took a gamble on them. On a side note...where did you buy the cork owl? If you don't mind me asking. Thanks.
@@decantswithd I haven't had Faust yet, but Frog's Leap is always an annual buy for me. I predict that 2 years from now you will be making a 2018 Napa cab episode and talking about how the 2018 is better than the 2016!
I agree with 2016. Some of my favorites too are that year. My favorite so far is Caymus 2017. Any of the wines you have mentioned have a taste similiar to caymus? Just got into my collection the last 6 months and I enjoyed your youtube video. I need a wine cellar like yours. lol My wine store seems to have some 2016 Groth still available.
bf Get the Groth , it’s excellent. Nothing compares to Caymus. Chuck Wagner does such an outstanding job. The wine closest is the Joseph Phelps Cabernet. Cheers!
Great video! Very informative. Hey D, question for you: you say that 2016 was the best year for Napa Valley cabernet. Does this extend to Sonoma County cabernets as well??
How is the 2016 Turnbull Reserve? I was in Napa recently when the latest fire broke out and we got a chance to stop by Turnbull. It was first time and was somewhat dissapointed with most of their wines aside from the black label.
Chris G I rated it 4.5 on Vivino, after 1 hour decanting. Just checked my inventory, I have 4 Reserve and 2 Regular 2016 left. Will be enjoying the bulk of them in 2 to 4 years!
Post the wines in the comments, you will add traffic. I'm full of wine and a bit lazy at the moment. From here I will have to rewind, listen closely, search and then buy the recommendations. If you want the extra coin, link it to a wine affiliate to who will pay for the referral.
I'm watching you pour out a full glass of stags leap... you clear have enough coin. Bastard, think of the little people. Ha Ha. What is your take on Plumb Jack 16? I grabbed a bottle of 16 from their shop in SF, personally it was heavy on the tart side. Which in some cases I'm a fan. I think I opened it a little too early.
i'm so thirsty now after watching your video. I personally don't think vintage plays a heavy weight in wine qualify for CA Cab, unless you compare 2011 vs 2016. I recently had a side by side tasting for 2016 & 14 Dominus, they are both great but 2016 cost 30-40% more. I just find it hard to justify. Maybe we need 20 years of aging to tell the difference. Cheer~~~~~please make more videos
Kevin Yip Kevin, we had the luck that 13, 14, 15 and 16 were all pretty good years in Napa. 2011 was bad, 2017 below average. I hear 2018 is great again. However, out of all of these 2016 is just a tiny bit better. You won’t see the full potential until 2022 or 23.
Was already planning on subscribing but the OU shirt really won me over! Great content!

Thanks Ryan
Thanks. Adding that Groth 2016 for sure.....to my collection
You will not regret.
Just had the 16 Groth again the other day - Perfect!
I ordered another 6 bottles myself.
Hallo Dietmar, ich bin ein großer Weinliebhaber und daher auch ein großer Fan von deinen Videos. Bitte mehr davon. Viele Grüße aus Heidelberg.

Any of the 2016 give you a real vanilla/coconut component. Baking spice/oak etc?. I really love that in a wine!
Great video thanks for sharing.
Michael Fox Thank you Mike! Cheers
4 things, love your channel. What kind of wine key do you use. What kind of glasses in this video . Subed
That 2016 Groth (the regular offering) is phenomenal. I haven't had a better wine
Just had it again. It gets better!

I need to check out that 2017 Frog’s Leap. So far, I liked the 2017 Faust. But that’s about it. 2016 was so much better.
I think Cork Owl was a present from a friend. Don’t know where you could buy it, sorry!

Sal Caterino I do hear that 2018 was a great harvest in 2018. I tried the Caymus already and it was outstanding!

Snowden is a great choice! Also try Snowden The Ranch, it's great PQR for sub $50 wine.

Andrew Chenault It does not. 2016 was good in Sonoma, but not as good.
My first 2016 Sonoma Valley Cab video is out. Those 2016s were excellent!
@@decantswithd Thanks for the video! Look forward to the next one..

OverXland _ I did not have the 16 Plumbjack yet, but heard it’s good!
This is Wine University
Bloomfield Griller Too kind, Griller
Fran Family reserve . the best of the best
That’s the Cliff Lede Poetry, not the BTK

I think any wine needs at least 3 glasses for so good tasting. Small glasses.
Already sounds drunk before corking a single bottle.
