I've been using it a lot. This one really gives good results at the end of the master chain and the Desser is good enough to me to skip Fabfilter's one. I actually recommend to get this VST for people who already have a good mix and want an actual good quality sound.
Awesome review/explanation! I was waiting for your video on this one. The Masterdesk has always been an easy way for non-engineers to get good results without having to know why. Thanks!
@@audiotoolshed Very true. Plugin Alliance has some great plugins, like their Maag EQs and the AMEK channel strips, but some of their plugins just seem to be updates to older favorites with shiny new interfaces (a point you made very well).
If i hadn't already bought their other mastering plugins, i would give this a try. Honestly, these types of products can give you the results you're looking for (or can get really close). They should give a discount for those who've bought their other stuff.
That would be a great option for sure, to get a discount. I think they include just the right options which made sense in a big one-size-fits-all type of plugin, if you need more control, you'd probably use separate plugins instead.
Yeah, but more like if you had one of the masterdesks you get a discount to upgrade. Plugin alliance always has special discount actions running all the time. But you're right, your method works as well :-)
@@audiotoolshed The other Masterdesks are among the products that qualify you for the discounted price, if I remember correctly. Although 79.99 is still not cheap...
I remember for a long time the only SPL plug-in they had was the passeq. Why did they start with that? True Iron is what everyone wished for. Then finally one day True Iron appeared and it was like a dream. In the same way, I think masterdesk pro is more like what everybody wished for when they came out with Masterdesk. Anyone else hoping they come out with a Vari-mu compressor?
It looks and sounds like an interesting all in one plugin. I'm not saying it's not decent, however I've already got my selected separate plugins. If you don't already have your personalized collection, it will likely be a good all in one effect. PS I've seen that EQ curve with the opposing mid dip in analog emulation type plugins, like my Pulsar Massive, especially if I turn the Q hard right. The one it emulates does that too, if I'm correct. Since I've found that interesting EQ curve, I've been using it a bit in both high and low shelves.
Question: Instead of exporting a mix and then mastering it on a new session, wouldn't it better to output the master track to a mastering track and do the mastering on the mastering track?
It's not better, but a different workflow. I personally do that all the time with my own mixes and on occasion I master my own stuff in a new project to get out of the mixing mindset.
I do this, too. Sometime I recognise some mixing issues in the mastering process. In this workflow, I can easily change that without open, closing rerendering... I made a comparisson for both workflows, no difference (in cubase) But it obviously uses more CPU. So it is more a thing of CPU Power, I guess. Well, and I usually produce Rockmusic.
what's the second track you play here? it's lovely. Looking forward to getting stuck into this plugin. I liked the Peak Limiter but felt the original Masterdesk was a bit limited. No pun intended.
Can’t get w PA anymore, they still haven’t updated their plugins to Ventura ios and all my dozens of purchased plugins are essentially useless. All the quality companies have already addressed this.
PA isn't responsible for the actual updating of each of the plugins; that has to be done by the brands on PA themselves. PA is responsible for communicating with their customers though.
sooo - why do you say its not really meant for the pro user? :) I mean - i would really use a graphical EQ here but all in all - there is actually all you can need for mastering. The only drawback is that you can not switch the order chain..

Yeah man, I only wonder if it's enough of an update to justify a whole new plugin for it.

Those who already own certain other products do get a discount. My discounted price was $79.99, and with my $50 loyalty voucher I only paid $29.99.

I wouldn't be too suprised if they are working on a vari-mu one way or another or are looking to include one via third party. Think Neold, of KIIVE.
I’m sure it works and sounds lovely! But I’ll stick with Ozone. Great video as always bro! 👊🏻
Ozone obviuosly has waaayyy more options :-) thanks!
What do you think about this compared to Ozone? I think I'll pass on this since I have Ozone 10 Advanced.
Well ozone has the auto mastering features which is ofcourse supresweet.
I'm more of a hands on person, so i don't use ozone in my mstering sessions.
I got this for $17.50 (pick4 PA deal) and regret it already. It’s an inflated bloaty piece of crap. Stick with Ozone Advanced.

It sounds like mastering on the mix project, is much better as a workflow. It's like having the "final" track on steroids.
