- I think I'm the first one to ever publish the ending on Hard Mode... I THINK... Too bad there's no special reward at the end for clearing it. But hey! It's worth it!
Took me a while to finish Hard Mode, I'll admit that I was pretty overleveled and with overpowered weapons. Better safe than sorry...!
I might do a complete walkthrough of the game on Hard Mode if you guys want it.

Notice that before Giygas went insane his name was written as Giegue. This is how he was called by his adoptive parents Maria and George.
For me, this is the real "Mother 4"
this is one of the best fangames ever made, and it really deserves that title

for some reason I find this FAR more disturbing and depressing than earthbound's final battle. especially at 21:23 when his physical form is destroyed. it truly shows the hatred he feels, and the music, my God it's haunting.
Actually, that's the part where his physical form is *beginning* to disintegrate. It's finally gone once he transforms fully into Giygas.

Lance Curry He outright states that it hurts as part of his dialogue. And he will also say that it feels good. He says he’s happy, but he also says that he’s incredibly sad. I think once he transformed into Giygas, He became so evil and so powerful that his entire form is just pure, undefinable chaos. He both exists and doesn’t exist, he is in unmeasurable pain, and in unmeasurable pleasure, he is both dead and alive, he is a mindless beast, he probably can’t even understand anything anymore, but he doesn’t even care. He doesn’t have the ability to care anymore. But in the end, he is done in by being forced to feel again, which causes him immense pain due to that bringing up the memories he tried to cast out of his body, and since he is a being made of psychic energy, the re-emerging guilt and despair he feels for betraying his mother *LITERALLY DESTROYS HIM.*
The music there is Giegue's final boss theme, from the original Mother.

The plot twist was Giegue's brother was actually just Giegue from an alternate timeline. And even if you get the good ending, the events of Mother 2/Earthbound are still inevitable.

And the fact that Niiue even dresses like Ness, also implies the connection between Giegue and Ness, which is the game's subtle explanation to Ness's face appearing in Giygas' lair. But what do I know? I'm probably just getting my facts wrong as usual.
You mean Ninten. Giegue is the antagonist from the FIRST Mother game. He never met or knew Ness (at least while his mind was intact).
And yeah, if you paid attention at all in this game, Niiue is Giegue. He used his immense psi to force all the good feelings out of himself. If you look at the official artwork of Niiue, he’s clearly wearing Ninten’s clothing.

Gameplay aside, how much of a Mother game does this fangame feel? I mean story-wise and script.
It varies. Sometimes it's right on the money and sometimes it's pretty obvious it's something that wouldn't ever be in the franchise. A lot of the dialogue is a lot edgier than what would be in the series. It's not bad overall though and the story itself is pretty good.
I believe, from what I saw in this video, Giegue is still having awful memories about Mother 1? With the hatred and murderous intent, but doesn't want to kill Maria. He has second thought, but then it slowly drives him into insanity.

This is the first I've seen o this game, and the concept of playing as Earthbound enemies alone is enough to intrigue me.
This game is amazing, it tells the story of giegue losing his sanity and turning into giygas, with you thrown in the crossfire.
As you could probably tell by that concept alone, this game takes place in between earthbound beginnings (aka mother) and earthbound.

So... in this ending, the horror of Giygas cannot be prevented. That's fair. But that doesn't have to mean Giygue is doomed. He and Niiue can retreat to a timeline where they can heal from all this nonsense. Maybe even reunite with Maria down the line. As for Giygas... that'll be another story for another time. But, we know four plucky kids who can handle this mess.
So Gigue and Giygas are the final boss in this game I see

If this were Earthbound, Giegue would have been absolutely destroyed. Their second form has 2000 HP, and Giegue is even weaker than that considering it's their earlier form.
Although I liked what I saw, the fact that you can damage him is weird. Both his capsule(?) and devil machine are fully impenetrable in original, not even mentioning that any damage you deal to devil machine will be returned to you in twice amount

It was a guardian, so there was never any super shield.

The first Giegue fight is a mental guardian and not actually the real deal, and the real one in the Devil's machine literally states that it isn't complete until Pokey brings in the last part

Even if it's a fangame, getting the severance ending in this game felt like taking a huge weight off my back, knowing what happened to Giygas in Mother and Earthbound. Giygas had plenty of problems, but they deserved a far better fate.
