This week John answers the question, what makes Orange cabinets different and what cab should you choose?
We are aiming to answer your questions in this new series of videos, have you got a burning question about our amps or how to use them? Then leave them in the comments and we shall aim to answer them. - Видеоклипы
Filmed from inside Matt Pike's bedroom.
Lmao😂
True lmfao
That's great😂
😂😂😂
Wanted to hear the 1x12 versus the 4x12. Not definitive.
My closed back orange 2x12 is a monster. DON'T SKIMP YOUR CAB!!

No 1x12; how's this "definitive"?
Video must be made for big boys not for 1x12 sissy's
Good point. Looking here for a 2 X 12 or 1x12 that sounds good, won't break the bank, or my back.
I wish every brand did that! Nice sounding cabs. The vertical one has amazed me more than once where I've heard it!
This shootout could have been much more informative had you employed a room mic (in addition to the close mic) to capture each cab’s ambient resonance. Take a lesson from Johan Segeborn on this technique.
Right? Johan's demos sound better than 90% of any RUclips demos out there.
I thought you were just being nice, but no. You speak true about Segeborn's reviews.
Nice demo! Made me realise I’m keeping my PPC212 over changing to the neo vertical version. The standard PPC212 has more sparkle and girth, the neo creambacks sound very upper midrangey and not as crisp.
I know for sure I way prefer closed back after this video. The open airness is nice but it's not as tight as the closed cabs. 2x12 which I currently own sounds just a bit punchier than the 4x12 which makes me think I'd love to have two 2x12s rather than one 4x12
I wonder, when this is the DEFINITIVE Orange cab video by Orange itself, where
is the CR 412 cab and the PPC 1x12 ....
My ppc212 feels like a tank and has enough low end to wake the dead. Best cab I've ever owned. It's been beat and used heavily, sounds amazing with the thunderverb and rocker 30. Thanks for the comparison!
The closed one?
Wow I guess I'm an open back kinda guy. Weird.
The Orange cabs are like that new hot girl at school.. when I got my PPC212 it pushed out my other cabs, who now they sit lonely in the corner while all my amps just want to get with the new hottie. (and damn is she fine)
tyler a weird analogy but ok
1:22 2:49 3:06
1:44 3:14 3:31
2:05 3:39 3:55
2:27 4:03 4:19
You are a genius. That 3rd row is money.
Thanks a lot, mate!
I'll have you know, this matrix ordering is among the most genius stuff I've seen. Merits to be the pinned comment.
yeh, my Rocker 15 Terror is going to be so happy when Sweetwater sends me my PPC212OB cab.....
i cant wait to see the look on its front panel...... it will be smiling from its input jack to its power switch !!!!
I've got a PPC212 closed back and it's just the best cab I've ever played through in my life.
For me the winner is the Orange PPC 212 open back.
I have been offered a nice PPC 2x12 open back for £145....seems like a good deal
@@fostexfan160 Damn good deal!
It's nice to see how the ppc212v looks with a full sized Orange head. I was wondering about that.
4x12 sounds so much clearer and present. The snarl on that beast is the classic Orange tone. Others sound good too but the 412 sounds awesome
I have the Orange closed back 2x12 and an Orange Crush Pro 120 head.
I’m debating on buying the open back 2x12 and stacking them.
Any thoughts?
I figure it’ll sound good having both the closed punch and the open presence.
Did you ever buy the open back? I've been thinking about the same thing, open back 2x12 and a closed back 2x12 stacked with my orange OR-50 head.
@@safka420 I never did, some guitar store employee told me that having different response times from open and closed back would negatively affect the tone; is he right? Idk I didn’t try it.
the horizontal 2x12 sounded the best for the crunch riff imho. Not a big difference between the OB and the closed one, both sound great, and i think if would not be difficult to build a removable panel to make the OB a closed cab in case more low end is necessary
Open Back Clean and Closed Back Dirty. Now I need both!!!
You need the closed back, and to just take off the panel if you want it open.
Wow, PPC212V sounds like a vintage tone 👍🏼
It’s the speakers they use. Similar to Greenbacks, they have a little bit of a darker tone. I put greenbacks in my orange. God tier
Cleans: ppc412
Dirty: ppc212ob
Distorted: ppc212ob
212OB!
2x12 close cabinet, sounds better than others cabs (in my opinion)
Wheres the Crush pro 4 x 12 compact cab ?
This video just for cab made in UK..... Crush pro 4 x 12 compact cab made in china
Open backs are made in China
@@tonnyzhang9634 So its not an Orange cab because "Made in China ? What about the Chinese made CELESTION speakers ? ?
@@daveydoom5479 So its not an Orange cab because "Made in China ? What about the Chinese made CELESTION speakers ??
motorrebell I own the 2x12 open back and it’s made in China.... says right on the back label and yes those V30s are made in China... go figure 🤪
My PC212 open back sounds way more focused than this demo vid... i think got to do with the room acoustic as well.. these are great cabs and very affordable (used)
That open backs lack throttle & sound to "midrangey" for me-Since I love 50 watt heads-I would go with the 2x12 closebacks. They have Punch & are better for more aggressive Heavy Rock ...
A definitive video would surely compare the Crush Pro cabs to the PPC cabs. I cannot find a single, honest review of the Crush cabs or a decent sound clip comparing the two lines. All I find are well mixed sales videos. Makes me suspicious of rubbish.
This is our next Orange Answers video, should be out in July/August, hope this gives you an idea of the sounds of the cabinet. Thanks for your question.
I just bought a PPC 412, thing blows my mind! If you don't have one, get one, these vids will only give you clues, in person they will make you ask yourself, I been alive ______ long without one? That is ______ (same figure) too long!
Would have fancied a listen to the 112 closed back as well
I like the either of the 212s the best because they both sound the same to me. This guy sounds like Michael Caine through a 112
ppc212v old voice) nice
Why is the seventh fret inlay on that LP so discolored?
It got sick
I know there is probably not enough demand for it but I think it would be cool if they did a single 10”
The horizontal closed back cab sounded so much fuller to me...
OB (open back) sounds great. But you need a wall to bounce the sound that's coming from the back.
Fuck low end!
22kg OB for the win!
Also give your Bass player space, low end is his home!
What about the ppc 410? I know it's rare but how would that pair with a rocker 30 or a rockerverb?
Ppc212v is my favorite in this test
the 212v sounds more balanced/less hissy. might have to try one day!
I chalk that up to the Creambacks. Great speakers.
2x12 V and 2x12 OB tone more Fat, rounded and Rockkkk
I love my blk vertical ppc ob 212, I want to add the ppc 212 below it to give my sound a little more depth.
My big question is: does a black orange cabinet sound different than an 'orange ' Orange Cabinet? (PPC112 for example)
None whatsoever
BRING BACK THE 4x10!!!
The 4x12 Fuller go figure.
412 sounds the best to me
Orange needs to make a 1 x 12” cabinet
They do, it’s the PPC112, cool cab, I owned one for a while
I have a OR100 and a PPC212-COB and it is a dreamteam.
Schnucky Guter yeah, I seem to be in the minority leaving towards an open back.
Daniel Valles Yeah ☀️ the sound is opener and get more 3D. Its warmer and lively.
@@danielvalles9554 I agree, open back cabinets have a really GREAT sound. I can see why most rock/metal players prefere a closed back cab (and I have three), but NOTHING prevents you from getting a badass rock/metal sound with a open back! Eq is on your amp (and pedals) for a reason!
Many great combo amps are open back and man, they sound good!
can i use the orange pp2 212 open back with orange pedal baby.
yes i do
sounds great with the bax bangeetar pre amp pedal
I have a ppc112 and I find the v30 is a bit too nasally/ bright for my taste, that 212v sounds pretty nice tho
try teh V-type.. its a "polite" V30 imo, or go for G12H30 for even smoother
Primer like, primer comentario! Orange rules!!!!!!!
From everything I've seen, the Neo Creamback speakers are just bad.
I love my new/used 212 CB, the only problem is the grill cloth is so thick you can’t see where the center of the speaker cone is for mic placement, even in a dark room with a flashlight 😂
you're supposed to use your ears for this part 😉
Hello everyone. Which can is best recommend for TH30 head amp? Thank you.
I just bought a Orange 412 4x12 and it has two mono plugs in the back do i just plug a speaker cable into one of them from my CR120h. I've only had practice amps before this
I have an Orange setp, but it's amazing to me how cheaply they put there cabs together (glue & screw not tongue & groove, comb, dovetailed, biscuit etc) and they still last and sound great.... further more, people seem to not have a problem with this like they do with every othercab making company!
The screws are only clamping it while the glue dries . Long staples are good enough. Its not a boat.
Those chords sound like “Jesus doesn’t want me for a sunbeam” from Nirvana Unplugged. “ je-sus don’t want me to get a Sunn Cab, sunn cabs are never made like these…”
"Let's start with the clean sound" ... Uhm, it is not clean, there is some distortion fizz going on there... :/
Brits put out these amazing amps yet can’t fuckin mic the cabs to save their damn lives. How can you use a tone with such great tone yet such horrible tone out of it?
Which of those guitar cabs will take a 9-string well?
4x12
What would be the perfect extension cab for Rocker 32..?
Hello. Can you suggest what Orange cabinet is best for use with the Kemper Profiler
Finally !!been looking this for months
I need help I have a Jim Root Signature cabinet and the plate on the back that’s suppose to tell which plug in has which ohms but on the back one reads JR212 and the other reads 02888 so Idk which one to plug into or to what ohms to set the head at.
Can I run a oringe crush pro 60 combo through a 4x12 16ome marshal cab?
Why your 212 cabs sound better than 412?
The lighter carrying weight of the PPC212V will be appreciated by my back (it sounds good too).
can i pair a small 15 or 30 watt orange amp with a 4x12 cab.? also can i run small amp to a larger amp to the 4x12 cab?
ANOTHER HALF ASS VIDEO...CLOSED BACKS SINGLE 12'S
I’ll take one of each please 🍊🍊🍊🍊😉
I like 412... by the way if Orange is making guitar straps you guys have any made out of orange Tolex?
How is this definitive for anything but shitty tones
My question is will the Cr120c power the crush 412, and if so, will the two 12s in the combo still work?
the guitar is out of tune 😭👎👎👎👎👎
Hey there,
I own a TH 100 head.(and a micro dark terror for fun)
Absolutely love that amp.
I’m currently running it through an old peavey 412 that I already had but would like to run it through a Orange cab.
What I would like to know is what cabs would actually be compatible and on what level.
Obviously the PPC412 would be for the full 100 watts and down.
But how about the PPC212 or even the crush cabs?
I never see that explained but I do see the occasional demo etc. where 212’s are used with 100 watt amps.
So yeah, could you please explain to what extend certain orange cabs can be used with your 100 watt amps (TH 100 in my case as mentioned before)
Would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
Gary van de Wouw Vintage 30s are rated at 60 watts each, so the ppc212 is rated at 120watt, the 412 at 240watt. Both at 16 ohms. Hope that helps.
Charles Vogt hi, well I understand that. But it doesn’t translate to me in to how the load actually affects the cabinets. Will the 212’s break up much more when you crank it or what will the big differences be in actual sound other then maybe perceived volume or headroom or whatever. The simple question is; can the 212’s handle a cranked 100 watt orange tube amp? Anyway, thanks for taking the time to answer.
Gary van de Wouw yes the 212 will get driven harder and you’ll require less volume before the speakers start jamming. That isn’t to say that will be the same for powertube saturation. I tend to prefer 2x12s myself although I only own a 1x12 and 2 4x12s at the moment. I’ll be saving for a PPC212 soon.
all sound a bit harsh with distortion.
#wishgranted rocker15combo 🙏🎅
Love the mids of the 4x12 but a 2x12 is more practical and I couldn't really hear any difference between the 2x12 OB and 2x12 closed back on this video strangely because I know in person they would sound quite different. Because of close micing? No room mic I guess. I'd love a 4x12 with an open back 2x12 on top of it but I wouldn't want to carry all of that.
No 1x12 or 1x8?
Nobody uses those
So i have a ppc410
i like the 412 myself
I have an Orange Rocker 15 which has an open back with a 10" Voice of the World Gold Label speaker and will someday add an Orange PPC112 cab which is closed back and comes with a 12" Celestion Vintage 30 speaker. Should sound great!
so on back of cab 412 PPC Orange how would we connect to a 100 watt amp that uses 16 ohm?
With a cable
Still baffles me why you guys don't offer a 1X12 cab in open and closed back?
They have a 1x12
I owned one for like a few months
Are the cabinets filled with Chinese vintage 30’s or British 30’s? I can’t find the answer anywhere.
Chinese v30, celestion doesn't make British V30 anymore, the only British made speakers you can get from theme is the Heritage series and Alnico speakers.
Hi guys I have 2 orange 2x12 cabs I need to buy speaker cables I'm looking at a few and they aren't suitable for powers speaker's I assume mine speaker's aren't powerd as I don't plug them into the mains power comes from amp head right ??
@@Freedom69881 many thanks much appreciated
Great video comparation!!
Gran comparación entre los distintos tipos de pantalla, se puede reconocer perfectamente el sonido que aporta cada una.
Saludos desde Barcelona!
Orange cabs sound great
Please make a vertical 2x12 with v30 speakers
Turn the PPC212 on its side lol

Yeah, I also like the PPC 212, although I have a closed back. It rocks great.
Interesting video John....I have a Crush Pro 120 Head. I want to buy an Orange cab, Is the Crush pro 4x12 better voiced for this head? Or Would the PPC 2x12 OB be worth considering as an alternative. Obviously I will try both at the dealers before purchase. But any advice and info before attending would be appreciated
The Crush Pro Cabinets are not specially voiced for the Crush range they are a lighter version of our PPC412 cabinets with our own Voice of the World speakers. A PPC212 OB would be a good choice but as you said best thing to do is go an try the range out and see what works for you. Thanks Orange HQ
The one I was interested in was the 1x12. Lol
They’re kinda whatevers. I had one for a few months. I ended up getting a 2x12 and im much happier. Something about having a closed back 1x12 is weird. It sounds small but and is like a laser
I have the OR100 going into the ppc212 why are the 212 ob different size then the 212 closed back? stacking looks odd.
212OB is sized to fit RV and AD30 212 combos..I also have both and preference is amp dependent for me...
How can i conect my th30 to my ppc212? Do i use the 16 ohms or the 8 ohms in? Please help!
You can use 16 ohm to connect...That is standard
Why did you put those speakers on the PPC212V? I would have bought that but it just sounds like garbage.
Jaime Almeida I think it’s because the magnets in those speakers are lighter. Orange was going for a more vertical cabinet that is not as heavy. To me, the V30s sound better than the neo creambacks.
somehow the ppc212v is the sound that I like the most, it sounds vintage straight out from the speaker and I am sure if you dial the treble towards the right you can also have some crisp sound just have to push it more, but definitely love that throwback vintage sound that you get out of them really cool when you are recording no need to add additives, filters, etc...
The PPC412 has a rattle to it like big long chains being dragged across the steel deck of a freight ship (maybe some like it). The 212V cab sounds very interesting, maybe due to the different speakers, I'd bet two of those would sound better than one 412.
Honestly I think the vertical Cab sounds the best out of all of them. It's definitely due to the neodymium cream back speakers. Their sonic profile is overall darker than the vintage 30s that typically come in orange cabinets. As far as the 412 rattling, I think that might be a symptom of whatever device you're listening to it on. Really the big difference between the 412 and the 212 cabs is the amount of base response.
2 years later now and I can’t figure out why I used the word “rattle” to describe the sound of the ppc412. I never had any problems with rattle sounds. I still own one ppc 412 and four Marshall 4x12s which do sound different than an Orange mainly the Orange has a deeper more bass sound.
Are these clean sounds good? :P
better than the dirty ones kek
