It's a sick joke that these monsters were given every opportunity to abuse the system and keep collecting checks on these kids. Sherry Davis, their biological mother, lost custody of her kids due to cocaine problems. The state of Texas then moves the children in with their aunt for a few months. Before being moved again due to CPS doing a surprise visit and finding them alone with their mother. In spite of the fact that the aunt had no criminal record, a steady job at a hospital, had raised her own daughter and moved to a bigger house to accommodate the children. Meanwhile, every neighbor they had over the many years the Harts tortured these kids called these people in, worried for the children. One of the Harts was even charged for assault at one point after basically water boarding a six-year-old girl who showed up to school the next day with bruises up and down her abdomen. What do the Harts do? Move to a new state and start homeschooling the kids from then on. Never answer the door when CPS shows up. Stupid shit you wouldn't think would work when 6 kids' lives are on the line. All because their own mother decided to watch them for a few hours once when she wasn't supposed to. The amount of trust given to the Harts and disdain aimed at Ms. Davis shows how the original Ferguson photo was so far from this world it might as well have come from another dimension. Devonte was crying BEFORE he even hugged the cop. He was in pain and no one wanted to see it.
The reason I DIDN'T want to sit on a jury is bc the judge told us there would be times when evidence was clear but because of the way the ATTORNEYS presented the information we would be forced to rule the opposite way. It was at that point I stood up and said I was the victim of a violent crime, bc there's no WAY I'm doing that with someone I KNOW is guilty just bc someone thinks they can TALK the person out of trouble. Forget that noise. I really was the victim of a crime but I didn't think people who were guilty even with evidence could be found innocent because of the way a damn attorney talks.
