Eastern Turkey is wonderfull. I visited several times. First time in 1973 against all warnings. So friendly and so much to see. Do not fotget to visit Harran

I think it's a litlle bit similar with Istanbul, the european side and the asian side of the city, when you discovered the asian side of Istanbul, you dont want to go back back to the tustique side. Same with the eastern Turkey, when you discover this part of the country you dont to go back tu the other side.

Really enjoyed the video. I have visited the East of Turkey many times, as my husband is from Adiyaman. I absolutely love the Eastern Turkey, the people are so friendly and hospitable, the scenery is stunning. I am so glad you are enjoying visiting this part of Turkey. You should really visit Mount Nemrut in Adiyaman if you can, it is stunning. People go there to watch the sunrise and see the statues change colours, it's an unforgettable experience. Hello from Hamburg! I have been in Mardin 2Month ago and you are right: It was amazing. We also went to Urfa, Midiyat and Diyarbakir and for me it was a great experience traveling in the southeast of Turkey. It s complete different from the western part, where we usually stay.

did my military service in Kızıltepe district, 40 kilometers south. Syrian border region between 2006 and 2007. Mardin and Şanlıurfa, our provinces with a very deep history, the region between the Euphrates River and the Tigris River are the regions where humanity first practiced agriculture, and the Mesopotamian plain in Mardin looks magnificent on the south side. I stayed there as a soldier for a full year.. Chris and marianne

Actually, the region where humanity first practiced agricultural endeavours is the levant region of Palestine Israel Jordan South West Syria and Lebanon

Welcome to Mardin, one of the most historical cities of humanity.
I know some people have said this before, but although you must miss many things back in the U.K. you really are in paradise in Turkey so don’t rush back. I wish I was there.
An amazing city! We, here in America, have a history that goes back to the 1700’s. Imagine a history that goes back thousands of years! The buildings are so strong and solid! It’s overwhelming! Thank you for sharing! 🤙

Thanks for taking us around Mardin. The answer to the question in the video title, why don’t Western tourists visit Mardin: people won’t visit such a wonderful, hospitable place, if they don’t know about it, so more people need to watch this video. My bucket list of places to visit is now one place longer, and the list is now so big that it won’t fit in a bucket. Maybe it’ll fit in a bathtub, but not that tiny bathtub in the Mardin Museum 🛁

09:00 The preparation stage of this MIRRA coffee (MARDIN MIRRA coffee), you drank the cooked version of it at 13:00 minutes of your video.
The preparation recipe I got from another site: "Roasted coffee beans are pounded in mortars called dibek, ground into powder and left to boil in pots. As they boil, the foam that accumulates on it is separated from the grounds and sediment and stirred occasionally during boiling. After a few hours of boiling, it is rested and left to cool. After the coffee cools down, then it is filtered with the help of a strainer or cheesecloth and removed from the pulp. After this process, the coffee that is continued to be boiled is boiled until it reaches a dark, dense and molasses-like consistency. It is preferable to do this process slowly over a charcoal fire, on a low flame. At the last stage, when it is believed that it has reached the consistency, optionally cardamom is added and the final boiling process is terminated with cardamom. No sugar is added to Mırra coffee and it is drunk without sugar."
10:24 Mardin special almond candy. It gets its blue color from the dye obtained from the root of the Lahore tree. In addition, cinnamon is used in the brown ones, while the white ones are just sugar coating.
11:33 It says Tar Soap on the cardboard. It becomes dark brown in color and smells like burnt plastic. A healing soap made from the tar of the juniper tree. As it is written on the same cardboard, it provides rapid healing because it is antibacterial against skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, fungus, scabies and acne. It is one of the soaps used by traditional medicine. On the cardboard below, it says BITTIM Soap, the green ones. This is made from menengiç, a type of wild pistachio tree. Menengiç coffee is also made from the same menengiç, it tastes and smells very good.
Other colors should be sulfur soap, clay soap and laurel soap. Especially women use them to get soft skin. You can find all these soaps all over Turkey, but their real origin is the cities of Mardin, Siirt and Hatay.
12:19 These are the municipality's garbage collection donkeys. For years, since the garbage trucks could not fit in the narrow and stairway streets of Mardin, garbage was collected by donkeys this way. When donkeys retire, they are sent to wildlife parks for the rest of their lives. If you have a chance, stop by the natural life park called Ormanya in the city of Kocaeli, east of Istanbul. Also, if you type "ormanya mardin" in Google, you can see the pictures.

I have visited most of the west turkish coast and I dream to visit the East of Turkey!
This might be my favourite episode (although it's tough to choose, as your drive on those Georgian roads was an incredible experience). Mardin looks absolutely spectacular. I love the back streets. And the people seem so friendly. Thank you for highlighting a place that is off the radar for Western tourists.

I would ignore the, be careful of this place and go with the, yes, visit this place. I love cities mixed with different cultural influences. Definitely getting your steps in here. I just watched the Mahmut Orhan video, which was filmed in Mardin, and I found amazing. I'm from Mexico and I've only been t Istanbul. I want to visit back Turkey soon, and Mardin is definitely in my bucket list.

Türkiye 🇹🇷 çok güzel 👍… Mardin is one of those cities that gets you really close to the Middle East but not actually being in it. The Hatay region of the country is actually considered in the Levant but the culture is still Turkish with some Levantine influences.

Abraham , Moses , Peter .... biblical significant persons mentioned on your journeys who lived thousand years ago in eastern of Turkey . Such a rich history , culture of Turkey . It was inviting then of your vlogs of this region. Sadly ... having to watch again after the recent earthquake , its heartbrraking . No wonder there are many historical / heritage sites buried underneath , unearth or still to be discovered. Your travel vlogs on it should be preserve because its beauty is now buried again under the rubbles.
During my first watch of this vlog a year ago , what stayed in my mind is the mobile tea man , his smiles and tea pot. I pray he survived .

That in the distance ...that there Syria is beautiful.
I took a coach thru Turkey into Syria 25 years ago , and spent many weeks with a guide and taxi touring the deserted ruins of many a castle or byzantine church.
Would spend days decrypting early Christian iconography ,on churches whose architecture and setting beats anything Europe has to offer.
Sitting under a half collapsed golden stone dome in church where no body has worshipped in centuries , or on a window which hasn't seen any glass in a thousand years ,,, and the views ...!!!!
Truly beautiful place , cheap at the time ,practically had it to myself, but I'm not so sure its a safe today as it was ....sort of....then
Mardin is a great place to visit. I visited a year ago and spent 3 days and it was great. It felt really safe. I m glad you guys got to see a great place.
