The stone works on Churches and those mosqs etc is probably made by an Armenian. Did you know all those areas are Armenian historical lands (West Armenia) and have been inhabited by Armenians as long as human history has been documented. Unfortunately they got persecuted and massacred.

The black rocks you see are the basalt rocks from the volcanic mountain Tendürek (they are called leçe stone in Turkish). In addition, there are large and small fault lines in the region. Good trip.

They are falsifying the history of Eastern Turkey.
Most of the old castles, historic sites in Eastern Turkey are Armenian historic sites, as well as the churches. City of Ani uses to be Armenia's capital 500 years before Turkey existed. They are there as propagandists, not telling the facts.

Thanks so much for taking us round with you again. The Ishak Pasha Palace is breathtaking. At 8.03, I agree with Marianne, that the carving looks like an alligator or crocodile. Apparently though, there is one difference between an alligator and a crocodile…the crocodile will see you in a while, and the alligator will see you later 🐊

Well I'm glad Trudy survived her bump in the night. We have a similar volcanic field here in California east of the Sierras that covers about 500 square kilometres with about 40 volcanic vents and cinder cones. I wouldn't mind exploring this area you are driving through. Loved the tour of the palace and the hidden waterfalls pit stop. Van in Van....that was a good one! And I'm still here, as always. Thanks for the ride.
