Many many years ago we took the Tamil Nadu Express from Madras to delhi. It took 36 hours! Somehow you just settle in to life on the train and the time passes as you watch the world go by, happy days! It is so refreshing when there is so much trouble in the world to see how kind and generous the people of Turkey invariably are. Peace & Love
I would have loved to have seen, what was usually on the menu - whole meal wise, usually. And then had your review of the food options! Anyway an interesting experience for you both...

Yeah, even if Turkey looks like a small country on world map it is actually second largest country in Europe after Russia. And that journey would be really magical during winters especially if the train was faster!! Luckily there is already Ankara-Kars high speed rail project which will be finished in few years.
@al alfin True, but Doğu Express is not about the speed but kind of experience. Most of the time people take that route to go to Kars and return in a weekend for holiday. Of course fast trains are available between big cities for more than a decade.
That was really wonderful and the background music was really good too. Turkey looks like an amazing country. And yes Chris, many of us are still here even after following you guys for a few years! Always does my heart good to watch your latest adventures.
Ankara train station is a very familiar place for me. We went to Sivas from Ankara during the summer months throughout my childhood. train windows could be opened at that time. We would stick our heads out and watch the mountains and end the train journey with a black sooty face. I still remember the swaying feeling that remained for the next day.
I did it in Australia in the 80's. I went Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, took 2 nights from Adelaide to Perth and we were in a 2 berth cabin. The carriage corridors went like s's. It was a great experience.
At the end of a tremendously long journey Chris says to Marianne as they depart the train watch your step my sweetness. This says it all about this amazing couple. Wonderful video thank you!
Really interesting video, such a long journey to do with barely any time in between. Bet it is stunning in winter. Think I look the look of Mick and Trudies high speed train better tho 🤣🚃🛤️. Wish there were more trains in Turkey, would be a great way to get around and see the countryside and I am rather a fan of trains. Looking forward to more of your adventures in beautiful Turkey 🇹🇷 🚘
Yeah... Good infrastructure by borrowed funds to the tune of $450 B. And no way to pay back. I am a Canadian who lived 2 yrs in Turkey, and never seen such fanatic and backwards people. Have fun and get out as soon as you can.
@@naderangadji7661 I'm very sorry for your thoughts, I'm Turkish and we know how to show the necessary respect and love to our guests, but you will reap what you sow, it seems you couldn't plant good things, but the results weren't very pleasing to the backward people in your word.....
That was an amazing and fun journey. I know it would have been easier for you to hop a flight to Ankara. The stuff you do for us! Thank you so much. That touristic train sounds fun. Happy Thanksgiving from the US.

Wowzer!! Well done👏 So interesting to follow. Happy you got the new drone. Always lovely to see the kindness of the Turkish people (but who wouldnt be drawn to you😊)
How true that is. That is why I call Maryanne and Chris our Turkish Ambassadors. If I had a way, I would honor them as REAL AMBASSADOR S TO TURKIYE! 🇹🇷🇹🇷🥰🥰
I did the same thing one time Marianne, I was in the Navy and forgot I was in the top bunk. I had to get up during the night and boom, down I went and hitting my head on the wall on the way down. My mom, brother and I use to take the train during the Summer when we were small kids to my mom's parent's in Oklahoma, we left from California. We didn't have a cabin, we were in the lounge chairs, but, usually no one was next to us at night and we could sprawl out onto the next one and lay down for the night. Your train ride reminded me of Chesca's book club read, Around the World in 80 Trains. Yeah, you got the drone and what a nice experience you had picking it up, not like here lately with all the "Black Friday" Christmas sales going on. Looking forward to seeing you back on the road in your wonderful little Trudy. Take care mates!
I adore long train journeys we’ve seem a good deal of the world from a train carriage - highlights…Trans Siberian ( with multiple stops), the Dogu Express (Turkey), from Budapest to Athens and a fair whack of Vietnam…Our compartment on the Dogu was bigger and had a sink, fridge and a/c looks like they’ve changed.
I ve passed many times on this route since 2009, it is the first time I see it so dry, less water, less rain. BTW, you shoul take it in winter, which is the real time with perfect landscapes
It’s amazing what you do!! You inspire me to see more of the awesome scenery, vistas, rivers, trees, and wonderful sites that have gone unseen to this point in my life. BUT, no more!!! It’s time to go adventuring. Thank you for showing me the possibilities.
Hi Chris, you know it's going to be a long trip of 50 hours and it's best to add another couple of hours, they're not high speed trains. Your best bet would have been to stay in a motel for one night and tear down the next day. And would have plenty of time to see Ankara ... Hittite Museum, Atatürk's Mausoleum, etc.
Today I traveled between Kayseri and Malatya on that train. because I am a student and it was the cheapest way of transportation :( It took 7 hours and it was a bit difficult. But Ankara-Kars… 60 hours…. god 😳👏🏽
If you hadnt broken your drone, this video would never have been. It is often the unplanned journeys that turn out to be the best. A train journey ticked off the unknown bucket list has to be a bonus. I’d imagine it to be epic in the winter.
Thanks Chrris and Marrianne for all your beautiful videos of all the places you went to. Yes, Turkey is really a beautiful country. Good luck and stay safe in your next journey. God bless. From Philippines.💯💥❤❤👍👍👍
