I needed this alternative suggested wording. Officiating my 4th wedding to a couple who are in thier 50s and already handcrafted married for 8 years. The bride wants to include her step dad in this ring ceremony her and her husband will partake in. New subscriber!

I am so thankful for your presentations….they are so educational with things I have not considered. I guess have figured out this is the first time for me to be a Wedding Officiant!

The non verbal hand off is the best option. The groom steps forward to take the bride’s hand and the two of them together proceed the last few steps into the ceremony space. No giving away. I follow this with the community vow.

The only logical way: Bride and groom walk together, as a pair, to the officiant. It is all about their marriage-contract / wedding. No-one else needs to be involved.

Mark can you do a video on the Sand ceremony (candle) People seem to like this addition. I have read the some officiants do ti after the ring exchange and before the pronouncement But I think it kills the flow. I like to do it after the vows and before the exchanging of rings

You have no idea , our daughter eloped, now she wants a ceremony , her dad was not included , i think just he'll be an escort to the groom hug and thats it!!

What about brides with no one to give them away any other suggestions to make the bride feel special?

Awesome video! Thanks for the tips. My brother is walking me down the aisle, so I guess technically he's the one "giving me away?" - I like the 2nd idea you mentioned about saying "supports" or "blesses", would we still use that same terminology or is it weird to have my brother "give me away" in the first place? lol

I'm planning on my dear cousin walking me down the aisle since I lost both my father and brother. He will act as a fill in but I still have my mum. What you would say in this type of situation?

Great video, I am the Mother of the Bride and the officiant :) lots going on here. My husband her dad will be walking her down the isle. I keep stumbling over the words at this point. Any ideas?

One of my favorites is. . . "Who has the honor of presenting (bride's name) Kimberly with (groom's name) James to be united in this union"? I also say. . . "Who gives their blessing for (bride) Kimberly to be united with (groom) James in this union"? Just have fun with it. The ideas are endless.

Can the groom be given away to the bride in marriage , can his hand be given to the bride ? It can significe the woman in charge in that wedding/marriage/relationship, what’s wrong? I understand it has never been done in history as our history has always been treating women poorly and placing men on top. Today it’s ridiculous. I even heard People just love traditions and why would they change something they like doing. Nobody wants to go on challenging what’s out there so the bride will always walk second and be given away. I find saddening to hear as I myself a dominant woman and has always knew in relationship I lead and desire to be the provider and leader to the family. I like being in charge . I lead him not the other way around , so these are my values . Unfortunately I got born into a society which not only doesn’t share any of my values but it’s completely opposite to me. I am finding that very disheartening. When looking at wedding customs like this. It’s very disturbing! There will be a question of where is the ceremony with customs and traditions that support my values ? How can I have one that can signify my belief’s system. You would want to be born into a society in which shares values with you and surrounded by people who are like you . I have always felt since childhood society seemed opposite to me and now I have come to realization that I’m very unfortunate being born here . I’m very unlucky to be born here . I wish I’m on some other planet .
