Dude, I’m so glad I found your channel. POV drive and review channels are awesome and I love how different people have different opinions, experiences, driving styles. I really appreciate the diversity of cars your reviewing…a crazy Camaro, a crown Vic, this type R, an old Saab…so cool. Thanks for taking the time to make this channel and keep it up!
Your comment made my day. Thank you!
I'm pretty sure he has that thing on winter tires. Which takes some of the performance out of it. Unless he gets a ton of snow and ice, I would've recommended performance all seasons for the Winter. Especially if most of the winter you just get mostly a mix of dry and wet, not constant deep snow and ice. I shoed my FL5 with Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus 265/35R19's, as soon as I got it last December. I'm in the mountains of Northeastern PA, and they've been an awesome tire to ride all winter...yet you don't sacrifice as much performance as you would with a dedicated winter tire. They were awesome in the summer as well. I shipped my stock Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's to our house in FL (ahead of the FL5 eventually ending up there), so I stayed on the Continental's all year so far with no issues in PA.
I just checked. It's on Falken Azenis FK460 A/S tires, which Falken calls an "Ultra High Performance All Season." It was lightly drizzling the whole time I drove it so the grip conditions were not optimal. Considering that, though, it still did pretty well.
I have those Continentals on my e36 m3 and love them! I struggle to lose traction in the rain.
Your arguments for high performance all seasons and your preferred tire are a mirror image of my own. DWS06+ on the Type R (mounted on 18" wheels) is the jam.
@@axledog7297 Yep. I can't imagine what the FL5 would feel like on the Pilot Sport 4S's, or even the Pilot Sport Cup 2's. Considering how much grip I have with the DWS06+'s, and how planted it feels. You'd really be able to make some face peeling G's in turns on the summer or track tires. I can't wait to find out. 😊😂
Nice honda. I think its a great car but I would like Honda to put a bit more effort into the Civic SI maybe make a more affordable type R.
I agree. Dollar to performance on the Si is not great compared to the competition.
28k for the si.. whats a better choice?
@wongchai807 28k is never what they really sell at because of the high demand. It's 30 out the door. For around that money, you could get a GTI, manual Subaru WRX, or either a very lightly used Focus ST or Veloster N with change. Spend slightly more and you can get a Hyundai Elantra N which wipes the floor with all of those cars other than the Kona.
I can't speak specifically to the driving characteristics of the Civic Si relatively to those cars, I'm sure it feels awesome. On paper, it looks lack luster compared to the opposition.
Nice dude. I'd love to daily one of these when (if?) they depreciate.
If is the big question haha. I am in the same boat. It is easily the best performing front wheel drive car I have ever driven.
You're never gonna get the chance then. These will never really depreciate, especially if it's the last all gas Type-R. So if you want one, find one for a deal you can live with and grab it. There are fairly reasonable dealers out there, you just have to search, like it's a job. I contacted over 100 dealers in over 10 states, in different regions, to find a decent deal on a FL5 that I could work with. I sat there for a week building my spreadsheet...and this was when they were just hitting the US market in late '22. These aren't your regular commodity cars...so don't expect the market to treat them as such. Most used FK8's are still selling for over MSRP.
@@BigBear-- The market is crazy on these. I think you might be right. Only time will tell!
How was the exhaust modified? Nice review.
Rear resonator delete to mimic the Integra Type S!
@@M-t3ch Cool. Does that require a new exhaust? Or just cut it off?
@cjsnylons I asked the owner. It is the front resonator, not rear. They just cut it out and welded a pipe straight through.
@@M-t3ch Got it. Thanks for the research and response!
@@cjsnylons Happy to help!
That's awesome! I'm going to get one. Do you think it will make chicks dig me?
Haha, I doubt it. If anything, you will attract car guys.
I wouldn't ever recommend someone buy a car to pick up women... but if you were going to, get a Miata. Bonus points if it's red.
