The shoes at the pripyat hospital basement which you are testing for radioactivity were thrown at the very same place 84 years ago. just think about it
I visited Chernobyl last year. Visited many of the same sights, kept awake by dogs, met the old man as well and dill on everything. You will now spend all your time convincing people it is safe and that you are not radioactive!
@@katrinatipple5023 It will not. Half life decay for uranium or plutonium is in thousands of years. Moreover, walking around nucleotides is not safe they emit gamma, alpha and beta radiation. The one that is light and travels far is gamma. Still can cause canver. Plus I would nnot drink or eat in that area. It is enough to have one nucleotide launch in one of the organs in the human body for cancer to be guarnateed.
@@odderlendsolvang3790 Half life means the amount of time (no matter what amount) it takes to deplete the radioactive material by half. Uranium ( do not quote me I looked uranium up long time ago) is in thousands. Yes less radioactive. But how much less? I would not want to be near it even if it is much less radioactive. Problem is it is emitting cesium and strontium besides just alpha beta and gamma radiation. I think cesium half life is 30+ years, never looked up strontium. What I was trying to say in my post is that : visiting this kind of place has two wrongs about it. First of all, it is dangerous. Second, it sends message around that radiation is not as scary as they paint it, which is fundamentally wrong. All this radioactive material has been included into the food chain and now cycles around until people who bear the outmost cost die. I have friends from Ukraine. There are villages there where high percentage of kids are born with leukemia or develop it over life time.
I was born in Odessa, Ukraine in 86. I love that you two visited Chernobyl! I had family in Kiev until recently and have heard about a lot about side effects that are still present over the years.
Okay, it's time for you guys to start making commercial documentaries. I would go and see a two hour compilation of countries put together by you two in a movie theatre.

I couldn't watch it all. I live in Japan and lived through the 2011 tsunami (and subsequent fukushima nuclear meltdown) even though I lived in a safe area. Seeing the empty busted buildings and ghostly Chernobyl town is reminiscent of Fukushima and it's not a sight I like
@@penseetv8960 well technically yeah, I lived in an area where the tsunami didn't hit (Tokyo area) but lived the earthquake and subsequent power outages and radioactive scares yeah.
Small thing: when using an interpreter or translator, the etiquette is to pretend they don’t exist and speak directly to the other person. This was obviously super informal translation, but it’s a good rule of thumb if you ever come across the situation. Love the channel.
@@nevlieslu2155 let's say for example that you are having a conversation with an individual named George. You two have a language barrier and have decided to use a translator. People's first instinct is to turn to the translator and say, "tell George I said hi." This is understandable, but can be rude to george as you are supposed to be talking to them and not the translator. Thus, pretend like a translator is an old phone line. Make eye contact with george and say whatever you would like to say as if there was no language barrier and then wait for the translator to catch up. Hopefully george will pay you the same respects.
Yeah, Deaf people have to deal with this all the time. I work with a young adult who uses a communication devices and people are always asking me “does he want / does he like / does he need…” it is really annoying, I wish they would just speak to him even if I am the one “translating” (reading what he is spelling on his spelling board)
Both of these videos are VERY well done! From both a content and editing perspective :) Great job Kara for the editing and Nate for the filming/footage!

You are too sweet 😭💛 it is beautiful! So thankful to learn about so much history here!
Brilliantly edited video. Far play to both of you for showing this.
Love this again! such an amazing experience to have! You guys always put a smile on my face when you upload a new vid 😁 much ♥️ from 🏴
Great to hear Charlotte 😀💜
The editing on this video was AMAZING! You gave me chills a couple times. Nate's filming and Kara's editing makes for a very special and spectacular combo!
I couldn't watch it all. I live in Japan and lived through the 2011 tsunami (and subsequent fukushima nuclear meltdown) even though I lived in a safe area. Seeing the empty busted buildings and ghostly Chernobyl town is reminiscent of Fukushima and it's not a sight I like
WOAH YOU LIVED THROUGH THE TSUNAMI?!
@@penseetv8960 well technically yeah, I lived in an area where the tsunami didn't hit (Tokyo area) but lived the earthquake and subsequent power outages and radioactive scares yeah.
TY 4 teaching those who were 2 young n letting the rest of us see what the devastation looks like today. Kara, we see the pain in Ur soul.
That awkward "please dont wrap your arms around me" hug at the end lol..
This video was fantastic! I loved how you inserted history with such good filmmaking. Thank you!
Thanks so much Denise! 💛💛💛 glad you enjoyed it!
Small thing: when using an interpreter or translator, the etiquette is to pretend they don’t exist and speak directly to the other person. This was obviously super informal translation, but it’s a good rule of thumb if you ever come across the situation.
Love the channel.
What do you mean?
I mean if you guys can cross a crazy bottomless crevasse , then why not stay at a hotel in the EXCLUSION ZONE!
