This was an epic docu series with the real general Duckie. Sometimes it's not wise to judge a man base on what other people say about him. This man speak his truth and I believe him. He was seen as just a rude buoy..not a singer. Yet he led a international group for 50 years and still going strong. Long life health and strength to the real Black Uhuru!

I Toured with Black Uhuru from Dec 2007 to Jan 2008 all over Europe and ended up in Israel for 3 days and played at a place called the Barby. The Abyssinians was also apart of the same tour. The band was the Hardcore Band from here in Toronto. Duckie was a man of very few words but you could feel the tension between him and Mykal Rose on stage! Also ask Duckie if he remembers the drama that happened when we were leaving the hotel in Ireland going to the venue? The venue was the Tripod, and this prejudice skinhead called us all “black bastards” and in one of the songs Duckie had to put him and all who thought that way in their place with his speech.

Muscle! The interview is educative, epic, informative and profound. I have all the Black Uhuru albums from Michael Rose and Puma Jones, Junior Reid, Don Carlos and Gurthie, and Andrew Bees. Give Thanks for clarity on a number of issues about tthe group. It's sad to hear such atrocities, hypocrisy, theft, misrepresentation, lies and deceit meted by producers to artists. Worse for people far away from Jamaica and other places. Reggae music was like a privilege in our country Azania (South Africa) 🇿🇦, certain reggae records and songs would be banned as the apartheid government deemed them too militant and fueling defiance such as demonstrations, riots, uprisings etc. This interview has made me to look at reggae music totally different than before. I'm a Rasta because of Reggae music. I'm the person that l am because of the militant, revolutionary, spiritual, roots and reality songs. I remember in the late 70s going to a record store to buy a new LP was always full of fun and was motivating. One knew that after buying the LP, one rush to the ghetto to go listen to the new LP and it would be played in the dance. Duckie and Michael Rose influenced me to wear leather jackets. Thanks Muscle for the stunning job. My heart goes to all reggae music singers, Djs, players of instruments who were victims of the dubious producers who robbed and stole from them the fruits of their hard labour. This interview reveals to me that reggae music industry is/was not as holy as the message we would listen to. Big up to Duckie Simpson, original Black Uhuru. ❤💛💚🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

As a fan looking on from the outside, I don't think what he said about Junior Reid is fair. Based upon his style of singing (and even voice) Reid was the perfect replacement for Mykal Rose. The politics and personal interaction may not be good, but Reid was the best artist to replace Rose. If there was a smooth transition (without any public issues), Reid could easily slip quietly as lead singer into the group without anyone hardly noticed. So, on the face of it, what he said about Junior Reid is questionable.
