I'm so happy that this interview happened. I wanted to do this with him a decade ago but wanted more of a historian asking the questions. Sadly for us, he flew home to Zion two nights ago. I played music for him and his kids, and use to hang out with him. He was my friend. I was able to get the Wailers story from him, so it was nice to hear it again. I was fortunate enough to do two songs on his album. Folk Song and Build Dem Up. Very humble man. I'm already missing him. Rest peacefully Garth. Fly home

I know Garth Dennis in Waterhouse about 1968 ,they useto called him Garthy. I know him playing cricket 🏏 and I guessed football ⚽️, but his younger brother named Dango Dee,otherwise his right name Trevor Dennis. When I know Garthy in the 1960s I never hear 👂 him singing at all, more than playing football ⚽️ and cricket 🏏. I lived in Waterhouse long before the group was formed named Black Uhuru, my cousins them know him better than me. Becaused my cousins them named Dennis like him, I heard 👂 that he and. My cousins them is some form of family 👪, because their father 👨 and Garthy father is some kind of family .Garthy brother is the best footballer coming out of Waterhouse in those days, the team was called great west back in the 1960s also 70s. It is really good to see Garthy as people useto called him, because I haven't seeing him in decades.

I know when they useto called Dukie Mafia, because he wears the dark glasses dag and night. So nobody could see his face and that man, always in a full pair of jeans.Any guy who said that they are from Waterhouse,I have few questions to ask them if they are old enough. I wrote a comment about certain singer, because this guy from Africa was talking a lot of trash 🗑️. I told him that I was born and grew in Jamaica for 40 years before I migrated, and the singer who he is talking about. I know him from a young boy before he started to sing and, I am 16 years old than him. So listen to what am telling you that most of the guy some them, are do over songs . I told the guy to listened to what am telling him,my step father had a sound system and I useto operated it. So once I heard the song I can tell him who is the original singer,of the songs. So back in the days before people know about copyright, one song all 20 ,30,40 doing the same song.So there is a lot of things outside people does not know the history,of the Jamaican music fraternity. It is a very long story, back in the 1970s and 80s . Most of the DJs never useto record their songs, they do on the sound system and. Guys useto go there with a tape recorder and record the dance, then they go home and studied the song . Then they run to the studio to recorded it and say, that they wrote the song. They are lying big time,I have a lot of pre leases songs right now on cassette tapes decks. From early 1970s I can tell who was the very first DJ in Jamaica, most of the original singers in Jamaica. Nobody hardly talked about them, because they does not know the history at all. The original music of Jamaica is mento, for hundreds of years. Ska rockstead and reggae just came in the 1960s, so don't listened to some of them, because they will lead you a stray,ok

A whole lot is missing from this interview. Something just wasn't there! The brethren responses was too close-ended. Also he didn't mention Mykal Rose.... which is the REAL authentic sound of Black Uhuru! Regardless of the politics, the most potent Black Uhuru sound is Mykal Rose tenure with Sly and Robbie. Mykal Rose IS the Black Uhuru IDENTIFY! ....the sweetest authentic potent reggae sound out of Jamaica was when Mykal Rose was with Black Uhuru.

All the big hits of the group is when Rose was lead singer. The closest replacement to Mykal Rose was Junior Reid.. and as far as I know, the only hit song with Junior Reid was "fit". When I said Mykal Rose IS Black Uhuru, am not talking about the politics of the name and ownership. I am talking about the group's IDENTITY...the signature sound of Mykal Rose, and the others I mentioned above.
