    Hope I don't offend anyone but I as an American I've noticed Eastern Europeans in particular, are goal oriented, disciplined and singularly focused on achievement not having fun. That can portray an unpleasant, anti social disposition. But the work ethic is impressive

      Simona's Romanian. The culture is pessimistic, fatalistic and not about fun, it's about working very hard to make the most of your life. If SImona grew up in Australia like Darren she would be a completely different personality, potentially not as great a tennis player.

    The WTA places way too much of an importance and influence in coaches. The AO had even press conferences for the coaches ffs. It's an insult to the women tbh.

    This man is overrated, he has been Simona’s coach for year but she still doesn’t know how to make good slices and dropshots whereas she needs it. She just has one game plan and doesn’t have a plan B, athleticism can’t do everything, she needs to go to the net. I respect the fact that they get along so well but she needs to try someone else. BTW she didn’t win Wimbledon with him. Wake up Simona, you are not aging backward.

      If he's so overrated, how about you get out from behind your computer and do better. He's coached 3 different players to #1 and GS titles. What have you done?
      And if you actually watched her matches, she does have a decent dropshot. She employed it plenty of times at Wimbledon last year. She just doesn't overdo it.

    Darren Cahill is the most overrated top coach in tennis history,he bullshited his way to coaching some real top talent though.He was an average player and is an average coach as well,he has no other merit than being a great motivator.

      @@pomerlain8924 Oh,an argument from authority,i know his CV very well.Federer figured out very fast that he is overrated as hell,when he didn't hire him after a trial period in Dubai in 2009.He barely "coaches" 20-25 weeks a year,only Halep would accept that,we will see how long she accepts that as well.He is overvalued in the eyes of the public only because he works for ESPN and his colleagues praise him as if he has won 10 majors with his players,but it isn't only about his CV, he isn't a transformational coach,he is a transactional one.😂

      @@mascancris6152 Like I said, get out from behind your computer and do better? You think you know what makes a good coach, then go ahead and do it yourself. Instead, you're making baseless claims about a coaching arrangement that you know nothing about. Whoo, so Roger didn't want work with him. Him not wanting to work with Darren doesn't mean Simona shouldn't. It's a preference. When you coach three players to slams and the #1, let me know.

    • @pomerlain8924
      @pomerlain8924 4 года назад +1

      @Alex de Lesseps A person that's never coached or been coached in tennis doesn't know what makes a great tennis coach. If the OP wants to whine and moan about how overrated Cahill is as a coach, then how about he does better. At the end of the day, none of us know what makes a good coaching relationship. Only the player does. They have to have a certain level of comfort and trust with their coach to be able to accept their input. Some players may not like it and don't want to work with the coach. Others do. It's a preference of comfort. Prime example is Wim Fissette. He's gone through so many players, including Simona. He never seems to last long with any player. Sascha Baijin and Naomi Osaka won 2 GS together and they parted ways. Osaka teams up with Fissette and wins her third slam. It's about who the player is most comfortable working with that can them get the most from their game.

      @@pomerlain8924 It's absolutely laughable to compare Cahill to Fisette or Bajin,he is way below the standard of changes they can implement in someone's game,but if Halep wanted "chemistry" that's what she got.🤣
