- I play my first round of 2023, teeing it up at Al Hamra Golf Club, Ras Al-Khaimah! While I do my best to shoot level par, I look back through my stats from last year to see what I can improve in 2023. A huge thanks to partners of the channel Shot Scope for supporting this vid. These are the type of videos I love to see. So many of the golftubers are doing like 20 person collabes and club deals, etc. It's great to see the golftubers' success and I want all of them to be successful, but I also like to see some good old rounds of golf sometimes. Just the creator and the fans enjoying a round of golf together. Well done sir. Small thing I noticed is that the graphic says bogey on hole 11 but you had a par.
Glad you enjoyed!
i agree, love seeing the solo rounds. gets annoying seeing alot of these other channels do scrambles and see how low they can go but knowing damn well if they played solo round it'd be a miracle to break 80 to 85 for the majority of them.
Most annoying thing is the scrambles Jesus lads it doesn't need to be a -10 round to be entertaining 🤣
@@keithward.504 And you don't have to go on like you've just escaped from prison everytime you hole out from further than 20 yards.
I appreciate the spirit of this comment but I’m excited for the future of golf RUclips content with brand and tour pro collabs as well.
The filming, editing, graphic overlays (love the "birdie" indicator on the 4th hole), Shot Scope, etc. have really elevated the quality of your videos. I love the longer format as well; I'm thrilled to have a 50-minute video to watch. Well done, to your entire team.
Love the more detailed information when showing the score on each hole and how in-depth you are comparing them to last year. Hope this continues!
Thanks Andrew
There’s just nothing like watching Peter play golf alone. Against himself. It’s so invigorating !
The camera work on that first bunker shot was top notch. I literally laughed out loud. Love your content and welcome to 2023 Peter. :)
GIVE ME THE MANGOS! 38:52 it's the little details in these videos that I really love.
"GIVE ME THE MANGOS!" I love these videos. Your approach is so different for some reason, you look and sound a lot more relaxed. It's almost like you're enjoying the game again🤣 Great vlog and some really nice editing too......
How have you not overtaken Rick yet? Loved this content!
Honestly, one of your best videos. Way to really talk us through your round.
Speaking on the shot-shape change. My best golf really is when I feel comfortable hitting both a fade and a draw on command, HOWEVER I feel an overdraw is less destructive to my score than when I set up open and aiming left for a fade, and PULL it.
Hi Pete.
Firstly, I want to put it out there and say I believe your channel is one of the best, if not the best golf channel out there. Which is why I’m not sure why you don’t get as many subscribers as some of your peers.
However, I’m going to be brutally honest and offer my feedback on the way you ask people to “like and subscribe”. It comes across desperate every time you ask your viewers and loses the authenticity of video. Maybe if you chilled out a bit you might find people would be willing to subscribe without you jumping down their throats.
I am a subscriber myself and only want to see your channels grow so the content gets even better. The lads behind the scenes also do a great job and want to commend you on your success with the podcast too.
I wish you all the best with the up coming season and look forward to what’s coming.
Know how you feel Pete, I’m a plus 4 handicap. I can’t be bothered with competition or scores, I just play to hit good shots and chase birdies, it’s much more fun
Having watched your Videos for years now, you always seem to put way to much pressure on yourself to perform, and struggle, but when playing without a care the real Pete comes out, and your very good, got faith in you mate, keep up the great work boys, excellent content
This is a terrific piece, Peter. I really enjoyed it from beginning to end. Learned a lot by watching how you're approaching goal setting and what you're thinking during the course of play. It helps, of course, that you're engaging, funny and real. As always, the production values are high; you and your team continue to produce excellent audio and video. Thanks for the great content.
38:49 thank you. literally spit out my coffee.
You know what, this video reminds me of why I fell in love with this game. Me, my clubs, and a ball against the course and my own thoughts. This video is a very pleasant change from the crazy overproduced videos with quick edits and loud music and personalities. Cheers, Pete, and hope for more of this.
The editing on this video is amazing! Got yourself a good team there Pete!
Absolutely love the production and editing on this video! Always hard when it's your first round back so hopefully it's all going in the right direction from here!
Great video! I like the Grant/Micah approach emplaning each shot. More playing videos like this would certainly be good for your channel.
Cheers Ronnie
Those are my three favorite golftubers right now. Pete, Grant, and Micah. They are on fire. I love seeing all of the growth in RUclips golf. I hope everyone keeps on getting bigger!
Want to really fall back in love with this game? Go play a round with the Bob Does Sports crew. FP would show you how to eurostep, Joey D would provide endless entertainment with his nonsense, and Bobby’s genuine enthusiasm would remind you of the love for the game you had at first. That would be a special collaboration.
I played some rounds with the drummer of a fairly popular band and he was best friends with Johnson Wagner, we are all from Charlotte area. And he was telling me how JW would take him to play Quail, his home track, and he would play the member tees and shoot mid-60’s, then play the WFC from the back and miss the cut lol… crazy how your mindset changes playing the same course with different numbers on a piece of paper to start the hole
An early morning treat before I head to driving range lots to think about . Love it thanks
Absolutely love these videos of you playing golf alone Peter. The first 4 minutes quickly remind you that your winter break away from golf is over. Well done to you and your team for keeping us all entertained. Looking forward to all the great content you have in store for us in 2023.
One of your best videos. Just remember, never put Mick on a stand. Lol I'm looking forward to your seasons goal vlogs. Fairways & Greens Bud...
👍🏻❤️💯
Give me the mangos! Just watching videos like these have vastly improved my golf game. As a 2nd year player with 0 lessons and I can compete with 30+ year vets and mid-lower handicap players
It’s truly crazy to see you hitting these 350 yard plus drives!! I remember watching your journey to 350 yards back in the day when you used that titleist driver! Long time watcher and it’s always great to see your channel grow! Thank you
Cracking stuff, Pete. Really enjoyed the interspliced discussion on the ShotScope stats and how you always use them to shape your thoughts and ultimately, over a long enough timeline, your game too. The full round format is great - it's good to see all the motions of a round. Some great scores therein; looking forward to seeing more.
Not the sensible play on No. 8!?!?! Peter! Driver off the deck is ALWAYS the sensible RUclips play! Love these full round videos. We get great shots, a few wild ones and your most excellent commentary. Great way to start my California morning. #Love the Lord of the Rings References
Love it! love it! love it! Great format! 👍
I loved the pre-shot/post-shot commentary. It is mirrored with the technical thoughts in my mind when I play nowadays. It is refreshing to see your analytical mind at work. The mid-round teaching opportunities are simply wonderful. You are bringing the instructor to the course. Spot on.
Mangos are a guilty pleasure. What a gorgeous day and course. Those greens were like carpet on video.
Really like how you talk the your camera guys, makes the video more real!
Great video Pete! The editing on this is amazing. Love watching a full round
Pete, just brilliant......relatable from the get-go! Absobloominloooteeeeyyy.....loveit!
I appreciate you making these videos so entertaining. Pars are boring alternating bogeys and birdies is a fun watch haha.
My first 18 of 2023 ended +16! Cold windy day in West Yorkshire, greens as bumpy as your average road! But god it was good to be out. Last 4 holes all pars.
Excellent vlog Pete. Nicely filmed and edited capturing (for the most part) some very solid play. Great start to the UAE series and look forward to the rest of your content 👏
Thrilled to see you back out there Mr. Finch. Always a pleasure to see you whack the ball around, haha!
Nice job Pete. Great video and breakdown. I also enjoyed the extra graphics and stuff. 👍 Way to "break 75" out there Pete! 😉🤭
Very nice Faithless We Come One reference! He just passed away unfortunately so that was quite a shock to hear him referenced so soon after! Love the content!
Really like seeing the data and summary of the round! Class video!
Gotta love these positive vibe videos :) in the vid on hole 11 it says it was a bogey but it was a par. ;)
Hi Pete
I played this course in October. Off the blues it started short and just got longer and longer. Wish I had played the Whites now 😅
Superb last hole 👌
So is the TM Stealth 2, Fargiving. It must be great playing in shorts and tee shirts in January/February. Dealing with rain, sleet, when the the sun does shine, it is 32° Fahrenheit, not Celsius, and it is hot toddy's and not mango milkshakes. And the fairways are firm with frost and not sun baked. I believe the word I am after is jealous. But love the videos. You did break 75 like some other golfer.
Love the video. And also love the honesty around your game. Maybe one day we will see you out here in Australia. As an incentive... Yorkshire in winter 8°c , Gold Coast in winter 18°c.
As a fellow Shot Scoper, I enjoyed the format and the focus on using the stats to help improve your game. I look forward to more of this content. Thanks Pete.
LEtsss go been waiting for a nice long course Vlog - smash 20233 Pete, legend!
Driver, and putting are also my strong suits. Half wedge approach game, and chipping n pitching need work. For sure my weaknesses.
Would be interesting to see you do a couple of rounds with the Paradym or G430 in the bag to see how much the forgives helps those wayward drives.
Really like the video with the extra little add-on with shot scope. Well done Pete and team
The little extra add on with shot scope is there because it’s a paid sponsor and he is doing that to get the sponsorship money ! It’s a good tool but let’s be honest he is not doing it as an add on for us rather a extra income for himself
All your videos are always a good watch keep up the good work ⛳
Delighted to see you finally got round to playing my home course (Saddleworth). I was a junior member there for many years and still live only about 5 minutes away! Would love to see a video from there sometime!
Yesterday morning where I live it was -10 Fahrenheit, and we have about 8" of fresh snow. Needless to say, watching you play golf in the sun is making me a bit jealous.
Earlier this year I duffed my layup on a shirt par 4 and took triple, then I birdied the next hole and hit it to a foot in a short par 4 right after that . Back to even after 3 was not where I saw the round going after my first shot.
I love you and this whole video Pete. ITS BACK ONTHE MENU BOYS
One of your best videos in a long time! Cheers!
Really enjoyed that Pete. Just you chatting through the round - i do prefer that type of video. (Andy Carter does that type too). You did drive the new driver well and for first proper round you played well. It probably helped somewhere warm as opposed to UK at 4 degrees brrr 😊. Look forward to the next. Hopefully the same style and format.
29:47 the last thing I expected to see in a Peter Finch vid in the UAE...a GAA pitch!
Great video! GIVE ME THE MANGOS!
Well done by the team. Really enjoyed everything about this video. Thank you all for your efforts and I'm very excited to see the Make the Cut and the collaboration with Andy videos. Cheers!
If any deserves to get to a million it's you guys!
U r literally CRUSHING that driver!!! 😂
Give me the mangos! What a video. Absolutely loved it. Simple. Kudos for going into quick highlights around 12 and 13. Keeps it fresh.
I bought my ShotScope on Black Friday and can’t wait for warmer weather so I can actually get stats and distances.
Great editing and I enjoyed see your playing metrics hole by hole
Also it’s the fat edit in the divot for me 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Pure gold Mr Finch. Keep on keeping on 🙏🙏😎😎😎😎😎
Love it Pete! Love the auld GAA pitches on the driving range too…holy moly, the shtuff of dreams!!!
Nice vid Pete! The data being produced by the software will be a help for sure!
Very nice video, love the feeling you transmit while playing. You seem to have fun and still enjoying the game which is essential to me. Thanks for sharing.
And the graphics are very nice, very modern and dynamic and the format is really good, with the stats and alternate videos.
Love the shirt Pete. We have the exact same one for our Monday night 9 hole business house competition. 👍🏻
Peter I just love your tempo and balance of your swing
Great video Pete. Great to watch you playing some really solid golf and genuinely enjoying yourself. And the lads are doing a bang up job on the new content! Class effort all around!
Absolutely loving this video so far, travelling around Australia and SE Asia for 5 months so no golf for me!
Love this format. Now I want an Andy Carter commentary version.
Great work Pete. Always a pleasure to see you on your travels. I will be in Formby in April. Going to try out my first UK course. Wish me luck.
Good to watch. Enjoyed this a lot
Looking good. Love the buttery swing!
Really enjoyed this one, it's rare I've seen the rough similar to my home course, especially this year think they were trying to save money due to the sky high gas prices. Keeping the rough around the greens 3-5 inches hearing some advice on getting out of that was nice.
Enjoyed the video Peter. And what a beautiful venue. Would love to visit some of these places as well as your home course, but I hate flying. Summer is coming. Why I love living in PINEHURST, NORTH CAROLINA in the states.
Henceforth I will refer to you as Mango Finch.
Solid stuff man. Cool data. Lots of fun. Keep up the good work!
Loved the vid pete and the little tips as you were taking shots. Already locked a couple in the brain to remember.
great video! good to see you back out on the course 👌 awesome editing and graphics as well. keep up the good work 👊
Brilliant approach to these vids. Entertaining. Informative. Wanting more....like a few of the ‘talking out loud’ pre-shot approach to a shot. I am working towards 9 handicap and love the mental insights.
I thoroughly enjoyed the video. It looked like you and the team were enjoying yourselves. Well done
Great video! As a new shotscope user myself, I really enjoyed the insight you provided on how you use the stats provided!
Love the video, but I'd have loved it so much more if it wasn't for the shaky camera. Don't know if the team can clean that up in edit, or if it's time to invest in some better image stabilisation for the camera gear. Keep up the good work.
The tone of your intro was exactly how I felt before teeing off for the first time this year. But, lo and behold, I'm still terrible
Same, only issue is it lasts till I position myself on the first tee and end up either slicing one way right or topping the hell out of it. Saying that, the round then follows with multiple bogeys, doubles and in some cases quadruples, but then, a par or a birdie comes along and I'm giving it the biggun like a prime Tiger.
Golf, nothing quite like it
Great content, I'm sure you'll get to E par soon. I do have a minor concern, as MY neck is sore seeing Kieran hunched over in the background? OUCH.
Love these longer form videos. Keep em coming
Considering it was your 1st round of the year. I think you played fairly well Pete. Especially with you going through a swing change. That new driver is massive! Really like the new line graphics.👍 And filming from different perspectives.👌 What a beautiful course!🏝🏞 Very much enjoyed this video. Top notch content mate!👊
Yeah can’t complain, was a nice surprise tbh. Mind you I actually played pretty well the start of this trip as the next few videos will show
He’s back on the course! Lfg!
“Right, none of us are eating for the rest of this trip”……
Absolutely in tears.
Dude is pumping that stealth 2+ wow!
What a great birdie on the 16th
Nice to watch someone who can putt!
Fascinating Pete. Really enjoyed it. Hard lines though!
I laughed so hard at the first bunker camera angle following it up and down and then Petes facial expression ahahaha!!!
Not bad round of golf, 6 birdies is a great return.. on 16th from the beach thought I saw Patrick Reeds ball in the palm tree, wrong course wrong country but he’d still say it was his.. white Maxfli HT balata.. he saw it through the binoculars and it was nearly 100% I think it could be definitively his ball.. If you want a Pro Am player off a bandit(ish) 1 handicap let me know 😂😂👍👍
“Like a fart in the wind”…can’t stop laughing at that. Enjoyed the video.
Really cool idea and useful tool to help improve yourself. I will definitely be looking into shot scope for myself. Love it Pete.
I can't believe you Ricked it on that second shot Peter!
Pete I really enjoyed watching that good and bad shots, shot scope and the running commentary is brilliant looking forward to your next video and I hope you qualify 😀
