    I'm new to healthcare, I'm currently a medical assistant student. And this field is so fascinating. Combining modern medical technology with herbal remedies is a fascinating concept. In a lot of poor countries they use these types of clinics because medicine can simply be grown, harvested and transformed into tinctures, syrups and balms straight out of the naturopaths medicinal garden, but the N.D can also check vitals and order x-rays, blood tests, and MRI's. Oh and my state supposedly is the 17th U.S territory to finally recognize ND's as legal healthcare providers. After all, 4 years of medical school, biology, math, science, anatomy, and 2 years of nutrition, herbalism, and pathology etc. should count for something. Kind of like an ambulatory care service in a way.

    • @sarah-wellnessgreatness
      @sarah-wellnessgreatness  3 года назад +3

      Hello Srujana Bhavanarushi! Thank you for your comment and for watching my video :) I don't know if this is the best study tip/suggestion, but it is something that got me through studying for the big BIG board exams (NPLEX 1& 2), and that was to remember that someone could die if I don't study well. >< Another thing, do NOT slack off during first year of naturopathic medicine school. If you do not understand the basics during first year REALLY WELL, then 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year are going to be so confusing and tough. Each year builds upon the previous year. I know a lot of classmates who did not do well in anatomy. They barely passed. As a result, since they did not have a strong foundation in anatomy, it made studying acupuncture, physiology, clinical medicine, and so many other courses (that rely on an understanding of anatomy) very hard. Perhaps I will make a video on this topic, but I am not sure if I have very much advice to give on this topic.

    can naturopathic doctors in ontario prescribe medications that require a prescription? for example like blood pressure medication or blood thinners.

    • @sarah-wellnessgreatness
      @sarah-wellnessgreatness  2 года назад +1

      Hello Sam C! Thanks for the question. NDs in ontario need to graduate from school, then take a extra pharmacy course that is taught by Professors from the University of British Columbia. After that course, you need to take an exam and pass it. Only then can a ND in ontario prescribe just a few medications that require prescription. For example, high high dose of vitamin D, hormone replacement therapy, desiccated thyroid, and a few other things. The list is very limited in Ontario. In British Columbia, NDs are able to prescribe way more like blood pressure meds etc.

    • @sarah-wellnessgreatness
      @sarah-wellnessgreatness  3 года назад +1

      Hi Deniz! That is a good question. I think if you become a DO/MD, the first few years after you graduate will be between 40k to 80k a year depending on specialty. After residency is over of course, you will probably make well over 100k. For a ND, depending on how hard you work and advertise yourself, your first few years will range between 25k to 80k. I think being a DO/MD will be more financially secure if you get into residency. As a ND, your job security is all up to you. After a few years of experience, and if you build up a strong enough client base, you can definitely make over 100k as a ND...it just takes time and patients/patience to get there.

    Hi mam I am doing my final year naturopathy in India...can I get job there..

    • @sarah-wellnessgreatness
      @sarah-wellnessgreatness  3 года назад

      Hi Merina Begum! Yes! BUT, you'd have to go through a lot of stuff in order to become a registered naturopathic doctor in Canada. You'd have to take a two year program at CCNM, then take a bunch of tests, pass those tests of course, and then apply to become a registered naturopathic doctor if you want to work in a province that is regulated. So the answer is yes, only if you are willing to put in a lot of work...and money. >

      Hi Nancy Ramos! Yeah visits can be pricey depending on where you live and what type of clinic the naturopathic doctor has joined. There are some practitioners who run their own clinic and offer sliding scale prices, so perhaps you could consider reaching out to various naturopathic doctors in your area to ask if they can offer you a reduced price.

    I believe in Naturopathic medicine, But I clicked out of curiosity. But what turned me off was the mask. Of all people naturopathic doctors should know masks don't work but they do harm.
