Their complete lack of transparency or contrition over the Sierra 5 disaster has steered me away from them for good. This video has done nothing to change that opinion.
I dont understand how he claims the internet blew up the Sierra issue, when they blew it up themselves by taking 6+ months for RMAs, 0 communucation from Dead Air, no recalls the fix issue in the first place. You dont get to blame the internet for calling out how terribly Dead Air handled the situation.
I am guessing it has to do with the amount of cans made vs the about of issues that happened.. also I don't think all of them blew up. I think they had the baffles brake down. you start with a can and end with a maraca hahah
Rob, I know you are a Dead Air fanboy, but it would've been helpful for you to ask Mike about the Sierra 5 issues - the hows, whys, and whats. You rolling over like a lapdog not only does a disservice to the people who watch your channel, who want objective content, but it makes it obvious you aren't impartial to the product. I would've liked to hear a sitrep from Mike's mouth himself, and not see it glossed over like it was nothing. You can be inquisitive without burning the bridge. Just saying.
I hear ya man. I am a fan of many cans because of my testing. We will continue to share non bias info but I am a lowed to have some favs from my own collection. On the issue of the S5, I talked to they before going live and this was the message they wanted to give. Anyways enjoy the channel 👌🏼
Dead Air is one of very few companies I will never give my money to again. From personal experience of them shipping me a collar 16 months after filing my warranty claim. To all the baffle strikes and them ignoring the issues with their cans and not releasing a recall on cans with known issues.
Got to tell you. I ordered my Sierra 5, I can't wait to get it on one of my 556 guns. I love Dead Air and love their warranty. Oh yeah, I have Mojave 9 coming too! 😎
Man, Mike Pappas never even called me back. Kinda lame. But yeah, it’s our fault we “are mad” and “live in our parents basement.” All “industries” suck, and I’ve worked in 10 different of them from govt to food service. It’s all High School drama and egos.
10 different industries wow! You have had some jobs! Sorry that you’re having bad experiences. Yeah I have had MANY companies not email back. Maybe that would be a good topic for a vid
The proper way to handle this to win customers back would have been to address it head on every chance you get, such as this interview- apologize, say what steps you have taken to fix the issue and improve customer service, and commitment going forward. Instead, he blames the ‘people on the internet’, the ones who were actual customers btw, and mocks them for ‘living in their parents basement’. Shows he does not care. Really explains why they muffed that up so badly and continue to do so, if this is your leader of the company . . .
Dont worry. other than the Xeno, most of what they make is obsolete now. Ventum, PTR Vent and the Velos are just better designs. If you want a decent moderate-pressure can, the Lahar-30 series and the YHM Fat Cats are just as good and a fraction of the costs. When you can get a Huxwrx Ventum 762 for under 800 bones, sans tax stamp, why bother with Dead Air.... they are literally dead air now. They played this situation so poorly and people in this hobby have long memories. Look at Springfield - most people wont buy one of their products bcz they are still salty for not support 2a and being crony-corrupt MOFOs. I know I wont buy a Springfield.
@@Omaba_Baba Is there a better option out there for 22LR than Dead Air? A lot of channels still rave about the DA Mask as the king of 22LR, would be interested if you think there's a better option out there against that or if they are still on top in the rimfire section?
As someone who is new to surpressors and almost ready to buy my 1st i went and installed dead air lantac brakes in anticipation but then i hear the horrible customer service and qc and it makes me question if i should stop and make a change in plan

I agree with many others on the way they handled the s5 issues but dead air still makes great products, honestly im amazed at how well my s5 sounds for its size, plus the knurling makes it look so good. Thankfully I haven’t had any issues with my s5 yet
@@Ertacticaldoubt it. There's literally a post from a couple months ago with a Sierra in the 5019xx SN range that the baffles turned to dust in. I know I've seen dozens of personal posts with Sierra issues. 120 seems like an extremely low guesstimate
@@BloodyRim interesting! Yeah man idk, all I can tell ya is what they told me. That it was 120 ish. 🤷🏻♂️ I don’t own one but I have many clients who do. We have had no issues.
I can't wait for you to do some testing on the Nomax 33. I want to build an 8.6 blackout and a .338 spectre, but there is no point till I have a great .338 can.
Kinda mad… lol Got my first can started in Feb. nomad LTi Wish they had the 3d non welding can then lol. Think it will suit me just fine for a bolt gun hunting application, 22+ inch barrels. (Cutting everything I have down to 22in. And maybe a 16inch 300 black sub bolt gun for fun.
@@SilencerSyndicate is it even worth getting a 5.56 dedicated can for me that the nomad LTi. Pretty sure I’m answering my own question. I’m a pure hunting application near all my rifles are bolt-lever guns Possibly one day getting a cheap 5.56 ar But that’s behind a long list of 46 cal can hosts. Feel like I’d be better off going a 46 cal can like primal for suppressed/sub 44mag and 45-70. And maybe a 9mm sub gun like s&w fpc Only thing I’m missing out on would be 22lr (I would get a cleanable 5.56 can).
I get Mike is trying to sound like he's staying positive and playing off the negativity... but the negativity happened not because shit broke, but because there was GARBAGE QUALITY COMMUNICATION all around over the Sierra-5 cans having disintegrating baffles. Its not a cheap can. When you spend a premium on something that has a freedom-ticket paid for and they just play it off as "thats just angry people" as if capitalism is inconvenient when you, the mfg, fucks up and has frustrated customers.... Mike just opened mouth, insert foot here. All he needed to do was maybe spend 1-2 minutes going over what caused the issues, how they fixed it, what they did to take care of those customers, and re-establish faith for their customers that the S5s are G2G and if anyone gets one they missed, they will fix or replace no questions asked.... but he didnt. He played it off as customers being stupid and angry, and hes not bothered by it. Well I dont have to buy any dead air products because I am bothered by it. 2A is a very principled community. It doesnt take much to ruin your reputation with gun owners. When Huxwrx is letting Ventus 762s go for under 800 bones, and are less pressure and cheaper, and can rock a Xeno, Atlas, or ASR mount and not shoehorn you into a Huxwrx flash hider.... Why even risk it with Dead Air? Really bad handling of this, and a big insult to the customers who gave them money. Sad that some business owners can't hire a specialist to listen to their dumb ideas and stop them before opening mouth > insert foot on camera. I appreciate the coverage, Rob. I know you love the Nomad L, but this was uncomfortable to watch.
