I am THISCLOSE to finally getting a crested gecko and I can’t waaaiiiiiiit!! Literally all because I found your video “5 of the best pet reptiles for beginners” I really wanted a leopard gecko but I was a little ambivalent over housing and feeding them bugs. I fell down the rabbit hole that is your channel when I discovered cresties. I was like wait. Basically a “vegan animal” of sorts you say?! they’re chill? And nocturnal like me? And so so beautiful?! Yes please! So I’ve been doing literally about five months of researching and video watching and soul searching and waiting and have decided that yup. I really really do want myself a crested gecko. Saw your video about the vivarium set up but ultimately found a different channel that showed a tutorial on how to turn an old empty 20 long fish tank in to a self cleaning one and will do that. ANYWAYS thank you again for your awesome videos, once I get the crestie and it’s situated I’ll debate if I want to get a snake next. I definitely want to buy a blue tongue skink as I’ve mentioned in other comments before. (PS sorry I wrote a small book here, I’m just really excited about getting a gecko 🤗🤗) love your channel! You change peoples opinions and I thank you for that!

Since I haven't seen a comment about it.
"Alphone" is probably pronounced like you would "Alphonse", but without the s, obviously. Pretty uncommon first name.
Guichenot can be decomposed as such:
    "Gu" like in "guardian"
"i" like in "since" or "still"
"ch" is pronounced "sh", for example like in "shenanigans"
    "e" is pronounced "uh"
"not" pronounced like "no" (the "t" is silent)
So you actually all pronounced it right except for the beginning (the u is silent, just like in "guardian =D).
Thanks for the amazing rad facts!

I have one question, I have heard three different answers on this. It's about lighting for a crested gecko terrarium. I have heard that
    1. Crested geckos don't need a uvb light and that it isn't worth getting it for them
    2. Crested geckos can have a uvb light, but it should only be on for 4-6 hours
    3. It is beneficial for crested geckos to have a uvb light and it should be set for a day and night cycle for both the summer and winter months, 14 hours on in the summer, and 10 hours in the winter. The gecko should also have plenty of foliage, and several spots to be able to get out of the light should it need to.
I am currently using the 3rd option above, and I feel like replicating what I would think to be as close to a true day and night cycle, would be the best option. However, I have heard others say that providing too much light can hurt their eyes and option 1, or 2 is better. My thought is if you provide enough foliage, and objects for the gecko to get away from the light, then there should be no problem. I am not having any problems with my gecko, he seems to be perfectly fine, but I don't want to cause him any harm, or stress. I figured that I would ask on this channel to see what the better choice is.

Wish I could have seen you today at repticon. New rescues took the ticket fund away. Again lol. Life of a rescue.

I have 6 of these guys as pets, split evenly between the two sexes. For well over a year I did a copious amount of research, almost constantly watching videos, asking questions, and reading up in forums and such. In March I got my first two and immediately fell in love but since they grow so slow I was in a rush for bigger ones. My brother bought me 2 20+ gram cresties in June. I swore that would be it but then I went to my breeders website after an update from her season and had to get more so in September I brought home 2 more (I don't like odd numbers so everything has to have a pair 🤷🏾‍♀️.) Now I'm trying to stop buying them because 6 30x13x13 tanks and large kritter keepers take up quit a bit of space. I don't plan on breeding so everyone needs their own space but they are so stinkin' cute I want them all! 😭

My friend and I were just talking about how cresties jump into the void like nothing bad could ever happen to them. 😂 Watching through tons of your videos to refresh my mind on research, I’m adopting a crested gecko soon!
